Ork Clans are cultural groupings of Orks rather than actual communities, each embodying a distinct Orkish philosophy. Clans exist outside the organization of tribes - where tribes are inconstant, breaking apart and reforming in war, Clans are constant and enduring.
There are countless tribes and warbands throughout the galaxy, but only six significant Clans. Each has its own distinct character, culture, colours, markings, and ways of waging war. The Clan distinctions are possibly genetic, engineered into the Orks by the Brainboys of the distant past.
A large tribe usually consists of Orks of different Clans. Orks tend to form tribes and warbands with others who follow the same clan, but different groups tend to be lumped together after suffering casualties during a Waaagh!. - Zábava
You have a Clan of Canadian Orks that are just genuinely polite until their Warboss says it's time for hockey, then they erupt into a galaxy wide bloodbath

Funny or sadly enough. In WW1 Canadian’s had an unofficial unwritten Take no Prisoners policy and a Canadian officer was quoted “More men where killed with there hands up with a bayonet “ but after reading Canadian Historian Tim Cooks “At the Sharp End” it seems like that Canadian’s where quite handy with Bayonets. In a night time attack at the Somme. Some units where ordered to go into the German trench using “bayonets only” to cut down on friendly fire. A Sargent said of that attack “it was bloody good butchering”

Fun fact about the Ork clans: There are six of them (not including the Freebootaz because they are technically an off-shoot of the Bad Moons) in present 40k. Way back in the War of the Beast, there were six Beasts. It's implied that the current clans are the degenerated remnants of the six Beasts' groups.
This also implies that the groups are supposed to work as one with six different roles in mind:
-Blood Axes are the strategic soldiers and they're likely the remnant of the Orks that were driven off of Ullanor because they're depicted as the one most influenced by humanity
-Goffs are the shock troops, the big, violent green tide that the Orks are most known for that makes up the bulk of the Beasts' army
-Deathskulls are the scavengers whose loots would feed the Beasts' war effort but mostly to the Bad Moons who are likely supposed to be their direct superiors.
-Bad Moons are the mechanics, the engineers and the merchants, they're the heart of the Beasts' war industry who produces all the machines.
-Evil Sunz are the cavalry, the ones who strike hard, loud and fast with their vehicles, their big trucks, fast bikes and planes.
-Snakebites are the farmers, the ones in charge of the food (Squigs), the ones responsible to feed the army and they fight as proto-BeastSnaggas
The clans are already quite a threat on their own but together, they're a nightmare.
I know this hasn't really been a thing in aaaages but Freebooterz used to be any ork who was outcast of the main clans for whatever reason and the pirate lot were just one type out of many. You had your Madboyz, Khorne Stormboyz, the Green Brood, Warp-Heads, Speed Freakz, and so many more.
Blood axes also sometimes work with humans as merceneries
Even if it sing true cannon I don’t care cause it makes more sense than anything, like it’d be so cool if each clan was based on an opposing chapter.
They were uplifted for war. They know what they are supposed to do at the genetic level. You see the same cycles again and again.
About my thoughts, except I personally think the Snakebites are meant to be guerrila fighters.

Fun Deathskulls fact: Deathskull WAAAGHs are often feared by their foes for their tactical acumen. This is because a lot of Deathskulls like looting more than fighting, so they try to get the fighting over with as soon as possible to get to the looting.
In short. Deathskulls will take a hour or less to kill you unlike the other orcs. They don’t want a proper fight they want ya gear and shiny shit.
Beware the Ork that wants to kill you quickly.

Da Freebooterz arn't techically a clan, because they are basically outcasts from different clans whom decided to join forces. Thats how Badruck became a Freebooter, he was a former Bad Moon ork, but got kicked out from the clan because he had too much teef, and so he joined the freebooters.

It's like how the Deathwatch is technically not a chapter, but they still have their own chapter tactics, stratagems, units, characters and relics, just like the Freebootaz. They're a clan in every sense that matters.

I recently found out they removed the ork’s only sonic weapon in 9th edition. Back in 8th, with the “psychic awakening: saga of the beast” expansion you could put something called “gork’s roar” on your warboss’s wartrike. It was an exhaust array so loud that it damaged enemies.
Big Meks are not akin to Terminators, they are Mek Nobs and/or low ranking warbosses. The Mega Nobs have the same armor as them basically and are what we would consider Terminators.

Yeah, Big Meks are, as the title implies, big mekboys equilavent to Nobs who managed to keep the best bits to themselves, either being too kunning or brutal for said bits to be used by other orks.

The orks and grots that pilot walkers gets inside those machines forever and eat their meals with a straw. The mek boyz build the machines like walkers, bionic limbs and eyes and the painboyz knows how to fuse machinery with the greenskin flesh and brains.

Freebootaz are often Bad Moons, they aren't mutually exclusive.
For some reason whenever people talk about Freebootaz they never really emphasize that they're more mercenaries than pirates. They tend to have a hodgepodge of orks from all clans under one banner for one reason or another.
The weapon on the shoulders of big mek in megaarmor, the satelite-dish-one is called TELLYPORTA MEGABLASTA. It is based on teleportation technology and works by just teleporting its target into solid objects or just teleporting parts of the target... Like a armor plainting, an engine a leg, or a head away from the target...

Also also: Freebooter is the bastardised version of the german word Freibeuter (Frei= Free, Beute = Loot). It basically just means "People who are free to run around and loot stuff"
Well, muffling projectiles are, in general, overestimated in media. No gun makes the Hollywood mouse fart. But all it actually does is manages the gases unleashed by launching the projectile so it makes less noise. Thus taking something that sounds like a small cannon to something more akin to a firecracker. I suppose you could make that work for a rocket launcher...somehow...
To muffle a rocket launcher:
Step 1) Obtain Muffler Squig
Step 2) Attach Squig to unloaded Rokkit Launcha
Step 3) Feed Squig Rokkit
problem solved.
Well you could in theory make the launch quieter by containing the jet of gas and fire from the back of the tube
The explosion, however...
To give you an idea of how an Ork might use a squig to muffle a rocket launcher, there’s an ability in the game Postal 2, where you can take a cat, shove a machine gun up its ass, and the cat will muffle the noise of the gun. Until it explodes of course.

A howda is a real world thing, DK. It's a battle platform/box you put on large animals. In real life they were used for war elephants. It's where archers would hang out and shoot from.
They are also used on camels by bedouins both as a status symbol and as a stable firing platform

I'm just saying, if tyranids got their ultimate victory in the galaxy, the warp would probably return to the state it was in before the war in heaven, since there'd be no more people with enough psychic energy to disrupt it fighting all the time. Hell, I bet if that happened, all those planets that are just fully in the warp and controlled by chaos space marines and the like would chill out and slowly turn into sort of okay places

@@thetechnomancer2464 As far as I remember - the Tyrannids MAY have only detrimental (or beneficial, depending on what side you're on) effects on the Warp. The Hive Mind that controls all of the space bugs is a consciousnessof pure warp energy, both completely separate and potentially as strong as the Chaos gods and Big E. And seeing how if a Norn Queen dies, it spawns a warp event big enough to temporarily black out the Astronomicon ALONG WITH one of the Hive fleets now adapting to eat beings of the Warp - it could mean that if the Tyrannids win, it will be the beginning of the end of the Warp as we know it. And if the Hive Mind is/becomes a being with an ego, it would be the most powerful entity the galaxy has ever seen since the C'tan
Either way - if the Tyrannids win, all sides lose. The only ones that may survive are the Necrons, not being made of organic matter + completely disconnected frok the warp + has the power to literally implode stars like grapes. Although I imagine Trazyn would be mad about losing all those potential pieces for his collection by that point
warp wouldn't exist if tyranids ate everything, since they especially make planets they devour inhabitable probably forever
I think the warp would exist, but it would be very...buggy
My all time favorite, apparently canon stories of the Death Skulls is either between the one where an Ork looted a moon and the proceeded to smash it into a planet (now attached with rockets!) And the one where an Ork loota WAAAGH! Pretty much found a Necron tomb world and began to absolutely demolish it without a single care. They broke down and looked everything, and got ahold of a Necron teleporter that they used to summon even more Orks for looting purposes. The pharon didn't wake up, until it was basically way too late, so the other necrons defense protocols were null as they got annihilated. And when he did finally wake up, he bore witness to a whole bunch of Mek Boyz, staring at him from above, wielding all sorts of tools before he was scrapped to pieces without a fight.

Freebootas is good if your running alot of vehicles for cheesing it, or you can run a list without heavy amounts of vehicles and actually have a fun orky time.
If the Imperium really wished to effortlessly destroy the Orks, all they'd have to do is teach them about inflation
Not so actually, Ork teeth decompose over time so eventually they stop being useful and a population can only grow teeth so fast so there's a semi stable ratio of orks to teeth for any given group of orks

People think the orks are stupid, but Ork teleportation tech is actually better than the Imperium's. Ghazghkull teleported whole armies of Orks through the mass of Armageddon to the far side of the planet to take the imperial forces by surprise. To say nothing of the the Beast teleporting entire ATTACK MOONS across the galaxy. We don't talk about the time Terra had a second moon.
