Please note that this is my personal take on the chapter! Whether its en-visioned differently in your eyes is understandable but note that these edits are not canon to Akihito's ideas. I wanted to dramatise events present in the panels by adding small pinches of animation alongside the sounds I personally thought would match the scene if it's ever reincarnated as an anime adaptation and upload it to CZcams as a small series!
I will commit to this monthly mini-series as per usual, and will be sure to do Chapter 54 when it comes out!

@@TheMickellPickell That's what sucks. These super dope edits (even with voice wow lol) can still be copyrighted. I get why they get copyrighted, but it still sucks.
The person who sees the potential in these edits will make money. If the saying 'it was better in the manga' is true most the time, then what better than something like this while studios work on animating things PROPERLY.
And edits like this could be amazing for ads. I've never seen manga ads (does that exist?), but something like this would be dope for an ad.
So I think there is untapped potential here. At least in terms of making it a thing, and not just the work of talented fans that get their content claimed. Keep doing what you do. I truly believe something like this could be the future of manga. But that's just my opinion. Who knows really.

Never thought of the animations being so incredibly different and unique that this editing style could influence advertising, thanks for thinking about my work outside of its context 👍 I only really get talks about my edits in association to the manga (NOT THAT THATS A BAD THING OR ANYTHING!) but it’s not often I hear about the edit as its own thing so appreciate the consideration! 😅
@@TheMickellPickell it's just an idea. But a good one, I think. I myself 'suffered' from reading Manga panels too fast. It doesn't allow you to take in the amazing art. I think this happens to many. Shorter attention spans are a problem in today's age.
So what does this have to do with it? Well imagine some sort of interactive manga. Your video for example. You put the panel for as long as you think the reader need it. But you could also put it for as long as you feel the reader NEEDS to see it, to really take things in.
This style of editing could also be use to give manga life, since most people read manga online. It would enhance the experience if done properly.
Sorry for throwing so many ideas out there. My main point is that you make nice edits. They have serious potential. So keep doing what you do. And hopefully it will become a thing in the future. There are many ways that it could potentially enhance how we read manga. I think it will become norm. I am pretty sure it was hard to make, wasn't it? Wish you the best of luck. Hope you keep making these. I'm sure these edits will be notice more with people like you making them.

@@ChronicalV He's gotten better in his interviews post-week of the 2nd film's release. Seemed to have lost weight, colour has returned to his face and he seems to be smiling more!
But he won't be working on the third instalment of the series' anime until he completes this manga ark. There isn't enough material here to start animating but they might begin production planning soon.
I'm also sure he won't rush it for the sake of his health and the quality of the manga.

Before MiA it never pased to my head even once that I was going to be so amazed by breathtaking panels involving a Kaiju using the spirit of dead babies and even shooting balls of them but oh my I am so glad they exist. Also Akihito you sneaky one, I am seeing you working with the movie has lead to some amazing fluid and full of action paneling. All of this without mentioning that Faputa entrance, I thinks there are no words to describe all its glory. And on top of that amplified by your as amazing work that get better and better, and that wonderful soundtrack VA´s choice. Can't wait to see what Akihito has planed to do, specially with Bun finally coming back to Nah at the genocidial moth.
P.S I saw you at the new OST and latest PV videos, there is so much good stuff going on for MiA I am wondering if this is what the blessing feels like.
Insania Nevi I’m in the boat fam...I went into this series knowing nothing and found myself really enjoying it. Didn’t think crazy highly of it but I definitely thought it was amazing compared to most shows (about 6 episodes in). As I watched more and more, and then read more and more I suddenly realised that this story of two children searching for one’s mother had out of no where become my all time favourite franchise out of anything..Akihito is a brilliant writer, can’t stress how incredible his work truly is!!

And now its finally the climax of all this arc. If I should to choose a side... obviously im go with Faputs, because she is my goddes.

that Veko and Belafu are gone to interfere in all the chaos.

I honestly can't tell who is the villain here. I mean, obviously Faputa or whatever her name is is very justified, but..... well somehow I can't see her being the victor. I hope I'm wrong, cuz she is the best character, but I'm kind of expecting her to be dead by the end of the arc.
I haven't read this arc in a while, so I may be wrong, but Wazukyun and the villagers used Faputa's mother so ruthlessly, and don't seem to acknowledge or want to acknowledge they're misdeeds. by doing this, they are the guilty party in my eyes.
I’m really siding with Faputa, she was born with the mothers memories and hatred. So that means the village itself still hates the sages and villagers for continuing to feed off her young with reckless abandon.

I found one of your more recent videos ages ago but didn't watch all of it cause I couldn't remember much of Narahate Village and decided I was going to start from the begining .
I've been slowing getting through them but I was starting to think: "Why DID i want to watch these instead of read the manga, they're not that great"
But then I got to this one and i'm like "Holy shit the quality bump up". 4:57 is gorgeous. I love how you chose to only color the incinerator.
In defence of the early made in abyss editing days, I was still learning how to do things. I was quite inexperienced back then but still made them with as much heart and passion as I do to this day. All I really lacked back then was the experience but that didn’t stop me because I loved the series so much and wanted to experiment with this new editing style I created. I’m glad you watched up to this point and was able to witness the growth of the style 👍

I've decided to hold off and wait for more chapters since they take so long to come out. A lot of time has passed, and I'm amazed that only, like, 5 new chapters have come out since I decided to drop off. How slowly do these come out?!
Well in Akihito’s defence the last year was pretty insane with the development of the film. The chapters were released 3 months apart at the minimum but it took about 4 months each chapter. Though I imagine it will pump out faster this year as a sequel has been announced for this new ark (yet the manga hasn’t even concluded this arc yet)
@@TheMickellPickell well, all right. As long as it isn't, like, completely cancelled, I'm okay with waiting. This is good enough to be worth the time. Though I am a bit confused about who is the villain of this arc.
I think that’s the beauty of this story. In almost every action/fantasy story deriving in Japan, they tend to follow the traditional “good vs evil” route. That one person is simply the hero and the other is the villain and you’re suppose to just follow along the hero in the story. What I like about made in abyss, this arc in particular is that there is no inherent villain. These are two very complex sides with strong motivations, it’s very hard to achieve that in writing yet Akihito nailed it!
@@TheMickellPickell this is very true. It's fantastic, and I can't wait to see where it goes. That's another benefit of complex characters like this. If neither character can be considered good or evil, the outcome suddenly becomes much less predictable.

Didnt know mitty was alive
Whether we are able to define the "Mitty" we see in this chapter as the same Mitty that Nanachi had been with all this time is still left up to interpretation.
Technically what exists according to Belafu is an exact replica of Mitty (both in consciousness and physicality), however if it is actually the GENUINE Mitty from the past that Reg used the incinerator on is still unclear.
My interpretation is that is was a piece of Mitty rather than her as a whole.

It’s a bit of a process but to put it simply:
Photoshop - for cutting out the panels and characters from panels
After Effects - for animating the characters that are cut out of panels
Adobe Audition - remove music from
voicelines
And finally Premiere Pro - Final edits, music, pacing, visual effects etc.

OH! So all the volume 8 was in the point of view of Nanachi ?? This was Vueko story but the vision was Nanachi's dreams ??
I think it’s implied that it’s a co-existing kind of storytelling. So it’s partially in Nanachi’s dreams as well as in Riko’s reality. Because Nanachi seems to only remember bits and pieces of things (fumbling over names and lots of vagueness in the explanation she gives) but she’s still aware of what has been happening. But those are just my thoughts!
Someone at the reddit said something very interesting on the discussion, that Nanachi dream looked like if it was Belafu memories of the past, and when reading those final pages it fits a lot, specially with some of the words used.

How do you get notified when a new Made in Abyss manga chapter is out?
Well I am part of like 5 Made in Abyss discords so I usually get alerts like crazy when a new one drops.
I’m also following Akihito on twitter and when he finishes a chapter he tweets it straight away! We also naturally stick around on 10ths, 20ths and 30ths as those are the usual days these chapters drop

Are you using After Effects for the animation ?
I use a mix of everything. I use Photoshop to cut out each panel from their original page. I then use After Effects is used for the puppetry of characters (making them contort and move) as well as adding eye animations. Background movement, camera work, music and final renders are done in Premiere Pro

The film is already out in Japan (if we are talking about Dawn of the Deep Soul) but when it airs in other countries has yet to be shared (it’s aired in Italy I believe).
As for the movie/series for the 6th layer ark, that is currently in development 😊
