  • Today finds us in North Carolina and on a quick search for a bottle dump located somewhere in a swamp. After a few wrong and wet turns, we find the dump.
    About Aquachigger:
I enjoy metal detecting for historical items like gold coins, relics, silver coins, and other buried treasures. I also metal detect for gold and silver nuggets and even meteorites. I like to make videos that promote my choice of lifestyle that includes outdoor adventure,
metal detecting, yapping, searching for river treasure, SCUBA diving, exploring abandoned places, hiking, caving, caring for animals and pets, and observing the things outdoors that often go unnoticed by most people who are not familiar with outdoor adventures and nature. I keep my CZcams "Aquachigger" channel family-friendly and hope you subscribe if you like my style.
BTW, you can also catch me here, / chiggsarmy ,but I may get a little edgier there. FB isn't a place for kids anyway...lol.

You mentioned the decline of the eastern box turtle, and I have to agree their numbers are declining drastically. Last year I was involved in a study and census for them, and after over 6 months of searching only found 2! In 2014 doing the same thing we found over 100! They are suffering from serious loss of habitat and vehicle casualties, plus people taking them from the wild and selling them as pets. I agree 100%, within 20 years or sooner these animals will extinct or nearly so. 🐢

Those hard bottom ditches are good at holding stone tools and points . looks like the walls of the ditch are not like SW- Missouri and full of gravel destroying most points unless you go as soon as the water goes down and find them in the bank or freshly washed out . One day I hope to hunt east where there are better conditions for intact relics . Good luck Chigg ..

I vote to dig the bottle site.
I would enjoy seeing more of your technique digging that type of site and listening to your knowledge on different types of what ever it is you find. There are more than a few dumps around where I live (NW La - not far from the battle of Mansfield).
You’d make a killing here I bet. Apparently the Union soldiers made their way up the Red River to Mansfield in an attempt to run out some Confederates. However they were met with such a force they literally turned and ran back to the River (many, many miles) in an attempt to escape. Along they way they dumped everything they were carrying not only to relieve weight but also attempt to blend in as they made their way back. All that land they traversed is mostly farm land now.
