Just as our minimum wage is one of the lowest, our legislators salaries should also be one of the lowest in the world. Not that we are the poverty capital of the world, while our legislators are the highest paid in the world. The dichotomy is too wide

Anything less than 120 thousand Naira is unacceptable to the Nigerian people

You should rather say that it is "unacceptable to Nigerian Govt employees" and not Nigeriam people. As much as I support the Labour unions, we should not make it look as if they are fighting all Nigerians. They are fighting for their own interests

They should realize that the Nigerian worker is most financial deficient. These lawmakers are the highest paid in the world.

Very inhuman for senators earning N30 million every month to find it difficult to recommend a living minimum wage for the Nigerian workers!!!

The Nigerian workers are as educated and more productive than most of the politicians who are the one of the highest paid politicians in the world. Why couldn't the Senators get the same minimum pay like the Nigerian workers. Politic should be service to the Nigerian people not to enrich themselves. These politicians do not have to take the job for running for elected offices. What were these politicians thinking when they were fluenting their imported luxury SUVS and bonuses in the face of suffering Nigerians. Let the lawmakers take a cut and have the same minimum wage with workers just for a year. Let's see how the experiment will work.

With all respects to You, Sir, dear Senate President, I don't believe You are on the side of the people. Check Your conscience sincerely.

The labour should stand together for the serious cut down of the salary of this politicians

With the situation of this country, 60k is even dangerous for the people. Many businesses can't even pay 30k minimum wage. This strike should have been used to reduce the cost of governance, cost of living and reduce inflation. Increasing minimum wage will make it worse.

  • @oladeleoluwakuyide

Most times emotion blinds us from the truth.Wage increase will only cause inflation and retrenchment. NLC should agree to less than 60,000 naira on the following conditions
50 percent reduction of presidency and NASS expenditure
Workers earning less than 6000 naira a month should pay no taxes indefinitely and suspension of taxes for workers on level 16 and below for 6 months.
Students with family income of less than 120000 a month should not pay a dime for tertiary education
Federal government should stop monthly allocation to states once they fail to pay their workers
All government agencies should buy made in Nigeria vehicles
No international trips for all government functionaries for the next one year
The Lagos- Calabar road should continue only after at least 2 dysfunctional roads in each of the 6 regions has been rehabilitated
CNG buses should be made available to all the 36 states within a month
Provide security to farmers especially those producing staple food products
Free medical and dental mobile clinics in at least 2 cities per state

Why is it too hard for Federal government to accept the request of the workers but a senator in Nigeria is receiving up to 30 million naira a month if Nigeria well good the senators salary must be cut down to 10 million

How many times have labour come out to strike about lesser wages paid by private companies?
A casual staff- cleaner in a publicly quoted company here in Nigeria, is still earning 15k as at 2020.
Who will strike for the private sector?
The nation's economy is failing everyday, instead of striking to press for a policy change, they are striking for their own self interest.
It is your right to strike for your personal salary increase from your agencies, but don't enforce it on anyone.
TUC, what's your interest in the salary increase of labour union?
What requests are you bringing to the table...or you're just tailing NLC?
If you want to strike, do so peacefully, don't enforce it on anyone...esp if our own earnings will not enjoy the increase.
Can govt not fund fertilisers? Build ranches? National skill empowerment schemes? taxation? Disco/Nerc, solar, tech...? Importation? Land use? Insecurity? Education? Health et al...
Do we strike to drive home policies or we only strike to increase our personal salaries?!

  • @oluwatoyinfamodimu1679

Why font u people cut down your salary as senator if u mean well for Nigeria as u have said. Rouges

  • @zangalord

60k minimum wage is ok na.
It is minimum wage, not general wage.
Besides, at this 60k proposal from existing 30k, will those above the minimum wage be getting 100% increase in salary, or 30k increase on their salary.
So is it a figure increase across board or a percentage increase across board?

    • @ifeanyikelvin5469

    • @zangalord
      @zangalord Před měsícem

@@ifeanyikelvin5469 oh, that's why Labour is dragging the nation to strike.
62k is OK for minimum wage, but additional 32k on their own salaries is too small.
That is really what they are fighting for.
