The big move is finally here! We’re FINALLY moving out of our house and in to a van. The big move comes just a few days after Malin was released from the hospital with serious abdominal pains.
Malin spent a week admitted to the hospital with bad pain in her abdomen along with quite a serious infection. These complications come after two major operations to remove her colon cancer, where they also removed Malin’s colon, uterus and more. Malin also had several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation therapy in order to battle her colorectal cancer.
During Malin's battle with cancer, we decided to take our dreams off pause and go for it, deciding to move in to our DIY converted van called Sunny. Now that journey finally begins, and we can start our van life for real.

Who are we?

We are a young 'Swenglish' adventure family, that consists of Swedish Malin, English Tom, and babies Charlie & Isabella, who are half and half. We love all kinds of adventures, including travelling around Sweden and beyond in our little budget family campervan, and we're currently building our dream campervan project.
But right now we’re focused on one thing: to be free of cancer. We've been on the journey to recover since Malin received her colorectal cancer diagnosis in late 2022.

You just be VERY careful Malin because you are not completely out of the woods yet and are still recovering. Not wanting to rain on your parade but I’ve just lost a friend who has a five year old son to sepsis - she was on antibiotics for a chest infection but it still spread. So not wanting to scare you but just because you’re on antibiotics it doesn’t mean you’re totally fit. Toms fit so let him do all the work while you look after the children. 👍🏻

Emptying a house is such a big job, physically and mentally. Hopefully, with the stress of that behind you, it will help your body heal from the infection, Malin. I am praying that your medical team can quickly find out exactly what is wrong to be able to best treat it so that it can be in the past. What an enormous accomplishment! Despite all those troubles, the tiredness, the meds etc. Stay strong and try to relax. Tiredness and stress aren’t good for you. All the best!

Moving is the most stressful activity ever! You think things are multiplying before your eyes! Boxes everywhere. So much stuff..and 2 small children and a major health mystery. Wow! Brain fog is understandable for sure. Do take care of yourself as much as you can. ❤
I have moved house and from country to country that many times and yet it always is a totally exhausting exercise - and you two! You have two wee ones to watch over and play with and care for and Malin has the health situation! Talk about doing a house move in overdrive times four!! But as you say, now that it is moving things into the van, you can maybe flow with it and get some rest. I've got Malin's health in my daily prayers and I am hoping that her medical team will come up with the right way to move her to better health. And those dreams of travel will be getting closer to reality every step.

Malin, please take care of yourself. I fear you over exerted yourself after the last all clear and then ended up in the hospital. Try to take it easy this time when possible. Let others do most of the physical work even if it means paying more workers to help, if this is possible for you. Hope you are soon more stable and in warmer climes.

Thanks for the update. Having all the packing and big move done must be a huge relief. Hopefully, you can get the rest and relaxation you need over the next few weeks. Best wishes for a successful resolution to your GI symptoms.

Whew, you did it! Out of the house and into Sunny. So glad that your out the hospital and I will continue to pray that you will not have to have any surgeries Malin. And if so, let it be the lesser of the two. Bless your hearts. I am so glad that you had all the help that you had to get the last big items etc out of the house. Cleaning out a house and moving is exhausting! I am praying that your medical team can figure out what's going on and treat it. The waiting part is so hard. So glad that you can park your van on your parent's property for now. Praying for a positive outcome and that you can start your van life! In the meantime, you can take the van out for nearby places for a day or so. ❤❤🙏🙏

Oh my goodness, that is a huge job! Not only to get out of the house but to then get organized in the van. You are such a trouper! What do you do about a mailing address when you are living the van life?!
Malin, I’m sorry you have to wait a bit longer to have the MRI. I hope they figure out what they are going to do quickly once they have the results.

Malin I admire you so much. I had similar surgery last year, complicated by an incisional hernia repair, but I’ve only just been allowed back to exercise, let alone pack and sort house and a van, and look after 2 gorgeous little ones! You are amazing. But you must pace yourself and listen to the excellent people around them, they are so lovely and supportive. Of course I’m 25 years older than you, so I’m going to blame my age for my slower recovery😂
We moved house 2 years ago, and I remember how exhausting the whole thing was, from preparing the house for sale, to clearing it out at the end. Take care Malin. I hope you are able to get some much needed rest whilst you wait for the MRI. With love from Australia.

Praying that they figure out what's going on with you medically and then it's a minor surgery. What made you decide to do van life? I haven't watched your videos for very long, so I am curious. Thought about doing it myself but just unsure. Let me know what your thoughts are on it. Of course I wouldn't have children because mine are grown.
