      I'm 25 years old, I have only a few strands of hair left on the front and 90% gone on top. I'm having to comb over some long strands from the side to cover it and that only covers the mid part. you know how much that sucks. I honestly feel like crying sometimes just looking at the top of my head. it sucks.

      I take finasteride 0,5 mg only every after 2 or even 3 Day then i combine in between each Day with biotin and other additional supplement which consist zinc, selenium and vit E mostly.
      In the first 3or 4 months i used to applied minox twice a Day. But after that(month 6 to 8) i only apply it once a day about an hour before i go to bed at night.

    I think DHT is quite useless when your body is done growing, like after the age of 21. I feel like my body is over producing DHT, which was kinda confirmed to me when a urinary tract doctor said my prostate is slightly larger than average for my age (seen through scans). I've taken 1mg fin for hair loss for like 5 months or more while on a bodybuilding regimen, my performance at the gym did not get affected at all, and neither did my libido. I begged my doctor to prescribe 2 or 1.5mg but she didn't approve, thinking it would screw up my health, with pretty much no evidence that it would.

    Ive done the experimenting with minoxidil thing with little info i had at the time other than it would help a receding hairline and if you stopped using it might get worse quicker than before you have started i started and wasnt worried about it until i started to think about how bad it would be if i cant use minoxidil for a month straight out of supply . Am i going to lose my hair completely ? Am i going to have to go bald ? Now i just take it so i dont get my hair to fall out i have to commit to it now unless there is an actual shortage of minoxidil then sure ill go bald and have to live with it .
    Now the worry of going bald isnt so scary to me anymore if im going bald it is what it is i will try to change my fashion style into something more fitting to a bald person but for now as im still young in my 20s i prefer to preserve as much hair as i possibly can if i have to go bald then oh well not as scary of a problem to me anymore after long thoughts about it for months
    I will be in the future soon switching into a mixture of finasteride and minoxidil to further strenthen my receding hairline that is only being kept at bay by minoxidil im aware of the possibile sides as long as i pray and hope they arent horrible sides i hit the gym irregularly and i dont want any decrease in libido , man boobs , fatigue etc. although most of these are uncommon , some rare it still carries risk and im going to try it out and hopefully it works well for me in the long run with little to no sides ..
    So those of you already on minoxidil and afraid of losing your hair the day you dont have minoxidil just know its not a huge deal sure preserve your hairline if you wish but remember its not the end 🙏

      Stopping minoxidil can cause a severe case of telogen effluvium for months (time varies per person). Hair regrowth can happen once the telogen effluvium stops and the growth phase in your hair follicles start. The amount of regrowth is determined by the state of each hair follicle and how far along the miniaturization process is. If the hair follicle isn’t miniaturized then it should regrow after several months to a year. I went through the same thing 🙂

    I'm 23 yrs old(turning 24 in 4 months). I've recently noticed that my hairline is receding and I compared some of my previous photographs. However, It not a very aggressive hair loss in temple area. Now, it is taking a M shape on my frontal area. What course of action should i take to mitigate hair loss while concerning the plan for next decades.?

    • @rmartin6914
      @rmartin6914 Před 4 lety

      I would start by counting the individual hairs you loose each day in the shower. The first treatment would be Minoxidil for at least 6 months. If during the end of the 6 months your daily hair loss has reduced significantly, then just keep using that and you're set :). If it hasn't stopped the hair loss by much, then you could ADD finasteride (topical Finasteride seems to have significantly less side effects the the oral pill). Finasteride will start working in about 4 months.

    This that it do not give any effect after 40 I find it hard to believe. It must depend on the DHT levels still right.
    Also that the effects would wear of is strange. Usually it’s that the persons gets spikes in DTH due to training etc etc.
    I paused my finasteride a little when I was 44 and I started to shed and loose a bit. And started again and then I stopped and I regrew a little again.

    • @arno8327
      @arno8327 Před 4 lety +3

      There are a couple studies you can find online that shows Fin itself doesn't lose its effectiveness over time (serum and scalp levels of DHT always stay the same, something like that). Like you said, it's the amount of DHT during spikes, and overall increase in sensitivity to DHT the older you get.

    • @litjellyfish
      @litjellyfish Před 4 lety +2

      Arno yea and to be fair. Is it really any good data that proves we get more sensitive to DHT when we get older?
      Often it seems that DHT is leas when older.
      So why do people perceive they are loosing hair when older?
      My own pure gut feeling speculation is this:
      We get older. Even guys with perfect hairlines and no real MPB get thinner hair. Our bodies get older. Grey hairs is thinner. Even body hair is thinner. We might get grey busky eyebrows. Nose and ear hair. But even that hair is usually thin in nature = summary. Old people have less thick and good hair quality for both DHT and not DHT sensitive hair.
      Above in combination with MPB Especially those with slow or semi aggressive thinning. It’s not more DHT sensitivity. It’s just the toll. If hair slowly gets thinner + my previous point. Well then you reach phases when it visually looks like you are loosing more. Like when you are 60 , 70. Also I think older me. Don’t care to style as much as before
      So my theory is we are DHT sensitive in the same way. It’s just progression and other factors that kick in at certain ages :)
      This said. Maybe there is data proving we get more DHT sensitive when older. Just never heard it.
      Also finasteride for Hairloss is about 30y old how. So it’s just now we will see people using fin hitting their 60+
      It will be interesting to monitor if those will suddenly loose more hair. My bet is that they will loose very little. If finasteride hace kept them stable since starting I think it will continue to be stable until the end of life.

    • @arno8327
      @arno8327 Před 4 lety +1

      @@litjellyfish You're completely right, I haven't seen a study that shows that we become more DHT-sensitive the older we get aswell!
      That just might be it, taking care quite a lot of older people, I can tell you it's true that overall quality of their scalp hair is altered, and in a diffuse way, even on non DHT-sensitive hair, like you said. Even on females.
      But still: as we get older, our androgens levels tend to decrease, and yet we tend to increase our chance of developping BPH, which is caused by DHT.
      So yeah, I don't really know what's going on with DHT at an older age, I know it does bind to androgen receptors really well but it should be less present with the natural decrease in T...
      Well to be honest, I can only thing of Trump as a an older dude using Finasteride, but you know... Trump and hair doesn't go very well in the same sentence haha...

      At the risk of upsetting people far wiser than me, I respectfully disagree. I am 55 and started using both Minoxidil and Finasteride about 9 months ago. I have had two friends (truly) grab my head to see if they can see if I have had a transplant. No the hair regrowth is not that good in my opinion, but even at 54 (now 55), the difference it made was noticable after about 9 months. It's cheap enough too.
      Other things I have played around with are little "derma rollers" with a depth of 1.5mm (google it). That may or may not have had some beneficial effect, I do not know. All I *do* know is that I was 8 years OLDER than you when I started and my hair is now visibly fuller all over and areas that were TOTALLY bald (crown) and areas that were sparse (temples) have made good progress.
      If you can afford to speculate a full years worth of both minoxidil and finasteride, then your doctor may well agree there is no harm in trying.
      For what it is worth, I use 5% minoxidil twice a day as a topical solution and take it with finasteride orally in the morning too.
      As always, your mileage may vary, but certainly with some people, a combined attack with both treatments DOES work even in the mid fifties. Not much point showing you a photo as I didn't take one at the start - so nothing to compare with.
