Are you looking forward to this Developer Direct? When do you think the Starfield Showcase will be?
My honest thoughts is that we will get a very brief statement about starfield. It's suicide not to at least acknowledge this game at THE xbox showcase. I'm hoping that we will also get a Starfield update for a date... about another showcase update. God I want to play this game!
They need something in gamepass immediately this month besides monster hunter. Now is the best time for goldeneye to show up

Rand, buddy don’t get me wrong because I think we are all happy to get something. Based on what is upcoming however I still believe this should of been done at the awards show. Besides reaching a lot more viewers than possible with these type events it could of avoided some of the backlash. Again, just an example of more missed opportunities.
Xbox is going to dominate 2023 with 1st party games and huge Day 1 Game Pass releases. If they don't let off the pedal, this generation will be the best they've ever had

Starfield can release when it's ready because it needs to hit, and being a new IP it's always a risk.
I think the standalone event for Starfield will be in March with the game launching in June.
Kudos to Xbox for properly setting expectations and clear communication. 👏🏿

Ideally I'd like to see a Starfield focused Direct in Feburary or March and which ever of those 2 it doesn't, it'd be nice we get another of these focusing on littler stuff like Game Pass Exclusives and Halo Infinite S3, and then probably silence till the ABK deal closes for a round table and finally the E3 Showcase in June. That is ideal to me.

@@jubei20111 One of those is a live service game that is getting its own event right after so why is it involved? Starfield should have been there instead of ESO. I don’t care if the runtime exceeds 30 minutes, if they can’t bring the big guns to their showcase, they don’t need to do the showcase!

I don't think they would have announced a dedicated show for Starfield if it was delayed again. Lol. Starfield is definitely coming no later than April. I think late February is when the Starfield show will happen.
I wouldn’t read too much into that announcement. They could just as easily do a full show to keep people somewhat happy to see what they are going to get when it does arrive. That doesn’t mean however there will not be a possible delay. I unfortunately have come to realize until we see a confirmed release date from them on a title take everything else with a grain of salt and patience.
@C.P. It's confirmed that Forza Motorsport and Redfall will be getting a date, so no doubt Starfield will, too. I predict April 14th.
@@cyberbfostar We will see but I would be surprised if we heard anything on Srarfield at the January event including a release date. As for Forza and Redfall they have been confirmed in the next few months so we should get a solid date on those titles. Microsoft/Xbox cannot afford to announce a date on Starfield if there is any chance it could be delayed. There is already too much backlash from titles being delayed already.
Nah Starfield is out between Apr and June, they need to fill out the Game Pass monthly schedule and Feb/Mar is packed enough

I was a bit worried when it turned out they were keeping the Developer_Direct name but seeing the illustration and concept it makes sense. That said, I do hope they play around with the name in cases where it's only one Dev, that way it could become Tango GameWorks_Direct, etc etc as an example :)
It's what the leaks were all about but it's good to have their first hand confirmation about the event and the starfield alone showcase. This is good news.

I think if they set Redfall for Q1 it's safe to say Starfield is Q2 or late Q1 at earliest which is fine I think most will be happy with that

With so much in development they could easy do one of these shows at least every other month. So after this we could get one in March. Hell if all the studios are close to releasing games they could do one a month probably. It's the best way to keep Xbox in the news cycle instead of trying to share the spotlight with the others at E3/Gamescom/Game Awards etc.
Then June starfield? Wow. That would be an insane 4 months. Let’s go team green. 🐍
Sony is short-sighted. If they were smart like Microsoft, they'd concentrate on make a game distribution service (PlayStation Plus) the dominant global ecosystem. And have publishers pay them royalties and license use fees in-perpetuity for the privilege of selling software on that ecosystem. Afterall, that's where the REAL money is. That's what MS did with MS-DOS in the 80's, every iteration of Windows beginning in the 90's, and various business software ecosystems.

As you indicate, Rand, we don’t have any idea when Starfield will release at this point. So based on nothing, it feels to me like we’re looking at an autumn release and with it, the failure of their 12 month release schedule. As long as it’s at a high level of polish I’m semi-cool with the game being delayed.
If I can't sleep with aliens in starfield then I don't want that showcase for the game 😫

I absolutely hate the name "Developer Direct," but I am glad that we have a show incoming. There had better be a whole lot of release dates in it.
I hope the Starfield Showcase will be a week or two before it releases. I don't want Bethesda wasting a single moment of their extension until the game is ready to go. No one needs to see anything until we are on the verge of playing it. Anything else would be torture.

Yeah, deciding to go without hosts and just show gameplay and develpoper comments is the way to go. Those cringe comments/moments with hosts becomes tiring and boring taking away the excitment for the games. Also, think CGI trailers are good when annoucing games early with about 2 to 3 years of lead time but within 1 to 2 years, show gameplay. For example the original Star wars Survivor CGI trailer that launced was epic and got me excited.

Personally I don't need to see any more Starfield, Forza or Minecraft, I want gameplay or trailers or both for Avowed and Fable as we haven't had ANY new information on those 2 games.
