One advantage of running the cylinder backwards on these bike engines is it moves the thrust face of the piston to the intake side rather than exhaust which is cooler and won’t score as readily (if you imagine the angle the con-rod is at during combustion you’ll see the thrust side). However i think its more bad to have the exhaust port at the back because it’s now in the ‘shadow’ of the cylinder and will get way less airflow
Dude! Genius idea! I have a bottle dynamo currently but have been trying to find a way to mount it to be chain/belt driven. Didn't even think about mounting it to the drive gear!
Im im the hardware biz i see these nuts n bolts are grade 5 on US bolts would have 3 lines on the head. on metric bolts would have 8.8 n harded 10.9. Which is over kill. I like to use blue thread locker on the threads so much vibration. This will ensure nuts n bolts ever getting loose. Or nylon nuts . Kudos Bro great work!
FWIW, I installed a generating coil on the other side of the magneto coil (it's a kit) and it puts out enough juice to power LED front and rear lights. Very easy install and still going strong after several years:)-John in Texas
Please get a beaver tail or some kind of front tongue on that before you kick up dust/water right up in there from your front tire, but overall very intuitive ideas, not exactly building a mega high performance build but you've made the bike your own no doubt, and I'm sure your ideas are working far better than what the stock kit gave you. 😂 Good luck in the future and keep building, I'll be looking into more of your videos ;)
make a velocity stack for the carb. Did you know, that a 2stroke WILL run BACKWARDS ? I used to do that to model airplane engines if I didn't have a "pusher" propeller. That motor looks mean !
yeah on the backwards, seen it done on a three wheeler bike for fittiment. As far as the velocity stack, I'll be posting something that blows a velocity stack away, it'll let me try different combinations to run the engine. Thank you for watching
If you run it backward your spark timing will be off by like 4 degrees, but running the head and stuff, as he does backward, is fine and doesn't require any timing change, I would mill out my case though so that the ports match.
Nitro model engines will run backwards because they’re compression ignition, gasoline engines won’t (spark will happen way late, most ign. Systems won’t even spark in reverse)
Fitting the head and cylinder backwards was ingenious! Just 2 questions: #1, if you run it in the rain that dirty water may ruin the piston. #2, the loose fitting of the alltenator seems iffy, doesn't it bounce as you ride? It may break. I like the type L copper fittings as an intake manifold. The fan is "cool" for running it when you work on it. Very neat! Carry on Dude!
Hey, id like to point out to you that without a velocity stack, or removing the breather completely, you are mistaken for calling it a "ram air intake" as no matter which way it faces, the intake comes from the bottom of the air filter. If anything you are now sucking air out of the intake the faster you travel, whereas before the jug diverted alot of wind around the carb, it now flows freely around and under it creating more of a vacuum than forced air.... or is thatvwgat v the fan is really for lol?
You can call it what you want too, intake up front this is the set up I got, sry your hurt over it. The configuration is ram air type, hence RAM AIR! Called it what it is. Try it out then tell me it doesn't work. Until then...People like you that don't investigate enough or try it for yourself is false information, that will piss people off for sure.
And the copper pipe lengthing will atomize the gas into a gas state much better, n exhuast trailing behind will disperse heat much more efficiently. You might be into something. I have to see this run. Pretty cool dude!
I can't tell your pulley ratio, but if it's one to one; 6000rpm is alot for a armature. Pretty sure it will blow the winding out. Most generators I've worked with are rated at X voltage @ 1000rpm, so how will you regulate max voltage. Good idea, but I see problems. Good luck
work just like its supposed to, can be fitted either way.I didn't port one of the ones Im working on and the speed, torque is still there without porting the jug. The piston can stay arrow in front, there is no difference. There for show imo.
66/80 MotorSports I would be extremely cautious with not rotating the piston to match the direction of the cylinder. Did you check that the ring end gaps aren’t now passing over (or right on the edge) of the exhaust port? Most 2 strokes you wouldn’t get away with that (these things have tiny ass exhaust ports so maybe you’re fine)
@@ghettobikelife8833 I'm running my piston backwards but my cylinder is still exhaust port in front with a 30mm wide exhaust port, here's a little secret the pistons with the arrow laser etched on it has wider ring pin spacing. This trick helps with increasing transfer flow and more porting possibilities on the intake side like boost ports.
2STROKE TUNER true I guess it can’t hurt to run it backwards if it isn’t interfering with the exhaust , especially if it’s needed for boost ports etc. On my folding bike build the ring gap was pinned right next to the (p-port) intake port so after I widened it I had to file down the ring end on one side! Only running one ring tho
That was a motor for mock up, the generator with correct ratio on pulleys and a dc motor is what is in this video, bought on ebay. I'm making a new generator now with a cool twist, should have a video soon.
Cool, been using Razor scooter motors for my generators,, been looking for a motor in a smaller package..I have several 555's never thought of using them.
@@dougie350 I have been thinking about this idea for a while, as long as you changed the piston to match the switch you should be gold. Good work by the way, love the idea not using the magneto but still using the engine to power it ....
all people need to do is spark plug placement proper placement! your plugs need to face carborator the for spark! add cooper rings to raise plug if needed! nobody does this my zeda firestorm stock motor runs awesome quiet and powerful any faster bike will fall apart these bikes arent made for high speeds! there made to 10 mph. not 40!

Generator awesome btw.
I have never seen one mounted backwards like that!
the ports dont look lined up

Yea I know of those, wont run amps dc tho. trying to power other stuff.
Where you get that? What they call it? Thanks

Very kool
im gunna balance the crank while its in the block too, haven't gotten around to it yet, pretty sure itll work.

I had to do the same thing with my old frame, I had the carb coming out the side behind my left leg lol.

How is that jug backwards?
How did this work out?
I have been running a reverse jug for about a year with no problems..
the sell one that goes the part that spining on the left side
yeah but they dont push any real amps to charge a battery, and the stock one kills the spark
where did you get the generator?

What type generator motor you usin bro.
You can use a 555 motor from ebay, or anything that'll fit, just get the ratio right on the pulleys.

dr clutch
Open the cart and put some kinda funnel over it and the just a piece of foam with the ram air it's pointless other wise
Just carb up front, exhaust out the rear is what Im showing. Calling the setup ram air so people know im refering to forward incoming air
