At first, a non Christian may rebel against prayer. Just to know that the thumbs down people visited makes me very happy. It's a start.

Remember as well that meditation IS mental prayer. Christian meditation is not the same as Eastern meditation where you empty your mind and focus on nothing. The goal is not focus in itself. The goal is focus on God, on what we have read in our spiritual reading, on how we experience God in our lives. Mental prayer includes talking to God in words, sharing our emotions and sharing our silences. Our goal is not to become empty, but to become full.

I do not normally think in that manner and it took about five minutes of ‘Our Father’s’ and ‘Hail Mary’s’ to get rid of these evil thoughts! I was compelled to get up and go by this female co-workers office. I seen this female co-workers hunched over her desk, with a snarled look in her face while flickering her fingers. She appeared to be in some sort of prayer?? I discovered the source of my impure thoughts! Evil witchcraft/demonic exists folks! They have faith and dedication to their god and prayers! We Catholics need to be super dedicated to OUR GOD JESUS CHRIST!! The Holy Rosary and other prayers have saved my life!!!! I’m not kidding. That co-worker messed with the wrong person! @@simonsammut9289 why must you be a literal meme? The king james is based off of jewish texts altered after the death of Christs. The Douay Rheims is the best bible in English you can lay your hands on today. You come to catholic forums to spew hate, why do you wrestle with your conscience? Sola fide is debunked in the bible. Everything you have was given to you by us, and your founder was a fornicating, masturbating heretic who was broken by the end of his life. How can you follow the teachings of a man that said "go forth and sin boldly?" Mary is the mother of God, she has appeared in countless miracles, we have historical accounts of people witnessing her appear and defeat invading ottomans. We have them in my country Croatia and many others. If it were not for Mary you would not even be a Christian but a Mohammedan you understand this? It is righteous to give the Mother of God the respect her son demands of us, for her that humbled herself so profoundly during her earthly life. In fatima she spoke of those that insult her and offend God by doing so. Did pastor Jimmy Bob tell you we worship her as a God (you can literally not find a gram of evidence to support this)? Everyone thinks all Christians are idiots because of your 6000 year old earth theory and flat earth conventions. God gave you your intellect, research for yourself and don't blindly believe jimmy bob. Most of your bibles are so horrendously mistranslated that you can't even trust them. Like the wedding in Cana for example. How you got "woman what have I to do with you" from what does it have to do with me and you (mihi et tibi) is foul play and obvious to all. The church is always open to those who come back, some very fine catholics are former protestants such as Taylor Marshall, I suggest you watch some of his stuff. God bless brother

@@elviragutierrez8396 thank you, that is good advice! Unfortunately, my story runs deeper than that. I’m actually writing a memoir of my experiences at work.. This incident actually occurred in 2018. I make it a habit to not entertain impure thoughts, but this girl who I call Jezebel 1 was putting things in my mind via witchcraft. I had to fight it off with prayer. She is a demon possessed gal that happens to have her office in the same hallway as my wife of 26 years. We all work together. I have a great wife, but she really doesn’t believe anything I tell her about what’s going on and neither do my parish priests. Only God through the intercession of our Blessed Mother saved my butt!

Wonderful inspirational talk. I wish this would be a required talk in every church every year. Many people don't hear this and don't think about it. Maybe they are attending Mass out of obligation and are praying at a minimum to satisfy guilt. Hearing this could make a big difference in someones life, hearing this could cause a person to really think deeply and could change a life drastically. To hear this could open up or deeply change their spiritual life. How wonderful it would be for all to slam the door on Satan's plan by choosing to make our prayer life top priority. We all know how Satan hates prayer so lets send him packing!

So, only what we do “in community” is valuable. Hence, most modern Catholics have no private prayer life, and are terrified by silence. And, most priests are okay with that.

Thank you so much Father for the teaching. Daily prayer is a discipline. Once we established a good routine, we ought to stick to it. And like Father said, this is nothing to do with "feelings". Most of us won't "feel" something when we go through our prayer routine. Prayer is an act of will - a will to spend time with God and stay in front of God. I think the 15 St. Bridget's prayer could be combined with meditation. That is how I do it. I memorized all the 15 paragraphs so I do not have to read them. Thus when I recite each of the 15 prayers, I walk with Jesus through His Passion. So are the Rosaries. I find it helpful to memorize each Bible passages links with the mystery. Thus when I pray the Rosary, I recite each Bible passage to do with the mystery and do my meditation. Memorize those passages help me to pray them at any time, in any place for I do not have to read anything.

@mary albrecht Catholics have over the centuries prayed the Divine Office. Perhaps a stay in a monastery could be arranged so that you might experience this amongst others. Maybe you have sisters or nuns whom you might call ahead to see if you can visit at one of the hours when these are said. I have seen them broadcast live online, but I am sorry that I cannot recall where from. Perhaps it was a FSSP parish. Please do try a search. As well, you will find printed breviaries with these prayers You might want a version that has both Latin and English. The prayers are available online. A shorter version, so I have heard, is the Little Office of The Blessed Mother, in book form.

I find prayer so difficult. I pray for this gift because I truly want to be an efficacious prayer warrior. Most difficult for me is the Rosary, although I try my best to do it daily with the Dolorous Rosary of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Keep praying my friend! === “If our Lord does not watch over our preservation, all of our efforts will come to nothing. No, my children, we shall not find any sinner who may be converted who has not recourse to prayer, not one who will persevere without having very great recourse to prayer, and we shall never find a Christian damned whose downfall did not commence with a lack of prayer."
      ==St. Jean-Marie Vianney
I can't remember or find it, but here's another one (I think it's from St. Therese of Calcutta) You will stop praying or stop sinning, but not both.

This is superb, and I need the help of the faithful here on this channel. I have also heard from other good priests that all Catholics are *required* to spend a minimum of 15 minutes in prayer every day. I have unsuccessfully searched the Catechism for the exact paragraph where it states this. If it's not in the Catechism, can somebody PLEASE point me to the correct resource and/or quotation?

I have not heard that it is an obligation per say but Our Lady many times has asked for us to pray the rosary so maybe that's what they are referring to.....also, a relationship with Our Lord should involve more than just 15 mins. So maybe that's a starting point. Just my 2cents sorry I can't be more helpful

If someone trained 4 different modalities in the gym for 60 minutes a day (on average) and kept that up for a year, they could realize remarkable progress in physical capabilities.
I would assume that if someone were to endeavor in this kind of pursuit of spiritual advancement using time tested techniques, that advancement would happen with the interior life, as well.

On those struggle days, at least make the sign of the cross (in Latin is best) 3 times saying "Blessed Trinity Help Me"
My mother told me this as she read it regarding a certain Saint (sorry can't remember who right now as I'm typing this on the fly) who did this.
Also, always pray the Act of Contrition as perfectly as possible.
Plus, the Golden Hail Mary is easy enough on those struggle days.
    God Bless You

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection,
implored your help or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Regarding this career situation, Hammer reconciliation, Charles, Ryan, parents, family. Psalm 100, Isa 55:11, Jer 29:11, Zech 4:10, Prov 14:19, Rom 8:29. Amen.
