    "Thermostat and housing are not serviceable separately" Absolutely false. This is what happens when parts sellers pretend to be mechanics.

    • @mikeymoon
      @mikeymoon Před rokem +2

      That's a bit harsh. There are "parts sellers" out there that contribute to this issue sure, but I wouldn't say that's happening here. There are plenty of inept mechanics out there, too. As to the specific claim that the thermostat and housing are serviced as a unit, it appears that that is the case with some 5.3s, but not all. There does seem to be a need for clarity on that topic.

      They had 2 versions of housings. This one looks like it’s the one with the integrated thermostat. It seems like that’s the older design. The newer design has them separate. So if the truck has the housing with integrated stat then no you can not replace them separately

    • @fasttruckman
      @fasttruckman Před rokem

      This system is a self bleed system, if you make sure and have the hole on the thermostat at the 12 o/clock position, which he didn't. Then just start the engine let it run with heater on high and fan on low. Then make sure the engine reach's temp and thermostat is opening and closing. You should be could if after 10-15 mins and the temp does not exceed the 210 mark.

    This is misinformation. Thermostat and housing are separate parts. NO REASON TO REPLACE THE HOUSING if the thermostat is bad. Just the thermostat. DO pay attention to the 0 ring. Mine it wraps the thermostat edge and it has an alignment "bump" to get the thermostat oriented in the housing.

      When the toque speck is so low, DO NOT TORQUE IT DOWN I’ve made that mistake before, just tighten it until it is tight, you don’t need to go more. You probably tightened on bolt all the way and then the other one. You want to alternate between them so it sits properly.
