  • Every console port of doom such as PlayStation doom
    Game Description: Doom, the fast-paced first-person shooter game, took the PC world by storm in 1993. It wasn't long before it reached consoles too, with versions appearing on the Sega 32X, Atari Jaguar, Playstation, and even the Game Boy Advance. These console ports often had limitations compared to the PC version, with some featuring lower resolution graphics, removed content for maturity ratings, or altered controls for the gamepad. But they still delivered the core Doom experience of blasting demons in a thrilling fight for survival.

    I enjoyed this video! I like the effort you put into the video. You earned yourself a sub.
    I remember growing up with the shareware, N64 and PS1 versions of Doom. I loved how rather it being a port of the original, the N64 version had it's own campaign with a really creepy atmosphere. A lot of fans refer to it as "the real Doom 3" for that reason. Though I wouldn't call it that myself since I really enjoyed Doom 3 for what it was.

      Yeah I think n64 doom was really sick, though im guessing not many were able to play it back in the day since it sounds very similar to just a doom port. Also doom 3 is great, absolutely love that thing

    I wish Doom 64 actually had the weapon animations in this video. I'd never heard of Doom 64 Retribution before this video, I might have to check it out. I like Doom 64 pretty well in vanilla, but I'd definitely revisit it with a mod like that

      Yeah it is a really nice and pretty faithful version for doom 64 for sourceports, I definitely recommend it, its a fun experience!

    Doom 64 wasnt a port its an original story serves as a squel to Doom 1 doom 2 ps1 version was kinda ambitious port as you got both DOOM and DOOM II final doom on ps1 as well ps1 version of Doom wasnt too bad

      @ItsZYX  Před 5 dny +1

      if im not wrong final doom was seperated from doom 1 and 2 for the ps1 edition, i do however know that doom 64 wasn't a port, I just wanted to add it since it was so cool lmao

    The PlayStation port of Final Doom added support for the PSOne mouse, so while it still wasn't as intuitive to control as the various PC versions, it was... a little better.

      Better except its final doom so ps1 players definitely gonna have some fun not dying lmfao, honestly I never tried a full run of tnt and plutonia, i should try it one time

    SNES Saturn and 32X missing

      True, i was going to do both of them, but they were just so fundamentally simillar to the jaguar port, it might of been worse off but seemed very simillar, but i guess it does contradict the title 😅

    Even tho many people love the PS1 port of Doom, i was never really a fan of it, because it's based on Jaguar Doom, even tho i think it could've handled the PC version levels and such. (considering Doom 2 is in it)

    • @ItsZYX
      @ItsZYX  Před 12 dny +2

      Yeah that is definitely true, it could of used the original levels, most likely what happened is that the lighting and stuff was a after thought so they originally went with what every other console used

    • @todesziege
      @todesziege Před 12 dny +1

      It used the simplified levels for performance reasons. It was the right call, because the framerate is still pretty bad, and gets even worse on the more detailed levels in Doom II or Final Doom. The emulated footage here does not show how the game runs on an actual PlayStation.

    You didn’t cover the SNES port of Ultimate Doom. It ran just as bad as you’re imagining.

      I just took a search right now, and yep, it ran terribly. On the Brightside it technically supported it without borders I guess?
