    There is a Zeebo port released in 2009 of this game, but unfortunately it has been impossible to record footage of it.
    The same goes for the iOS version, removed from Apple Store a while ago.
    In some systems Pac-Mania has not been released as a standalone game, instead of that has been part of a bundle pack. It's in the following cases:
    - PlayStation: Namco Museum Vol. 5
    - Game Boy Advance: Pac-Man Collection
    - PlayStation 2 / GameCube / Xbox / Windows: Namco Museum 50th Anniversary
    - PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360 / Windows: Pac-Man Museum

      @Wubbzy, Driver of The Fire Scorpion - Yes, but to be fair, the source media I was working from already had the cut down music. If I'd been able to legally get the full tune without upsetting Namco Japan, I would have tried to squeeze it in. We had to work with what Namco USA had approved though.

      Yeah i agree. It always annoys me when people go on about how much better it is compared to an Amiga when it was like 5 times as expensive and newer. But it is still a version of the game that exists and therefore should always be in the comparison. It makes more sense than including emulated versions of games.

    • @Bloodreign1
      @Bloodreign1 Před 3 lety +12

      The X68000 was pretty much the heart of every arcade game of that era, so 90% of the time it could churn out pretty much exact arcade ports, save for Chase HQ, which was botched as a port for that. The X68K was 2 years newer than the Amiga, and ate it for lunch, but that was because the Japanese were just better at building PC's, and the fact that they based one off the guts of arcade machines gave it a massive advantage over any PC at that time.

    If I remember correctly, there are layout differences between the US and JP arcade versions. of course, the x6800 version uses tthe ladder.
    unlike most post crash ports of pac-man games to consoles, the nes and genesis ports were ported by external western developers, at a time when namco usually ported their games in house. they were both pubblished by tengen (which is to be expected given parent company Atari games was a sister company to namco), who outsourced the nes port to westwood (soon to become king of the RTS genre, or at least the one to beat blizard within an inch of their lives) and the genesis port to Utah based Sculptured software, who had previously did contract work for Atari corp, including an atari800 port of mario bros, which was commissioned after atari lost the source code to their own unreleased version.

    I never realised back in the day how un-naturally fast the C64 version was! It was the only version of the game I'd played back then. And once again I see Amstrad CPC and MSX owners get stuck with a piss-poor Spectrum port!

He just so happened to own the Pac Man Collection and handed it down to me, and I took a severe liking to Pac Mania, which in my opinion, works with a screen crunch, not to mention how close it emulates the arcade version, which also allows for me to replay it on websites like arcadespot for all of time since THEY don't use Flash.

This is an essential part of the game as it means you can tell when the power pill runs out even if you can't see the ghosts as the volume comes back up. Not having that hurts the game a little but if they fixed that I would agree it would be pretty damn perfect. As it is its a fantastic version.
