I still can't believe Ian Wright was left out of England squad for this Euros he finished 91/92 season top scorer with arsenal in the league...Anders Limpar even said before the tournament Graham Taylor would regret not taking Wright

Sorry but if you want to show highlights make sure we get to see the goal itself & the buildup to it, not all of the sudden players celebration as we missed the actual goals & just slow motions to it on reply

Rasunda Stadium in Stockholm Sweden 🇸🇪 where Brazil 🇧🇷 was World Champion in 1958

Correct Råsunda doesnt exist longer. The arena was teared down some years ago when our new National stadion Friends Arena were built close to where Råsunda was situated-
Both arenas in a part of Stockholm called Solna.

extremely overrated Swedish team - and Brolin is probably the most overrated player in the history of football. The Swedes got incredibly lucky.

Neil Webb was actually a very under rated midfielder. It's a shame he only got to play in an England side that was devoid of its usual talent. No Gazza, no Beardsley. Barnes and Waddle missing. He was kind of sacrificed after this tournament and never played again for some reason.

Fucking Toney Daley, you can't miss chances like that at this level. I do wonder the reception for Graham Taylor if we had made it to the semi-finals, which we really should have done with a group like that.

I do wonder if Gazza and Barnes were fit for Euros if they would have made a difference, Barnes very unlucky damaging his cruciate ligaments days before Euro 92 in England final friendly before flying to Sweden

I remember that when Sweden played their first match in the tournament, I watched the match on Eurosport. An old (antique) English commentator rallied about how bad Sweden was and that they really should not be allowed to play in the European Masterships. When Sweden scored the first goal against France, he became significantly quieter. :-) He was only allowed to comment on that match, he was fired!

Typical English arrogance. Not many of that England team would get into that Swedish team.

I still think the important players who rallied Sweden to WC94 third place are Kenneth Andersson (i watched him in his mid 30s in Turkey, he was a real prof), Patrik Andersson, Joachim Björklund, Henrik Larsson and Jonas Thern. Martin Dahlin and Tomas Brolin are only more than average and luckier, Schwarz was a real arrogant dirty player. I feel really sorry for Ingesson, his fate didn't fare better. Still think the best 3 Swedish footballers of the last 50 years are undoubtedly Ibrahimovic, Ljungberg and Henrik Larsson. This 3 deserved better World Cup experiences.

    • @jackmurphy6864
      @jackmurphy6864 Před rokem +1

@@sefaozlemyener5227 I think Thern was better than those 3, just without the modern hype. He was playing in Serie A at the time there was only 3 foreigners, so you had to be really good to play in Italy then lol.
Brolin was better than lucky, but vanished after that awful injury.
Dahlin looked like he'd be a huge star at one point but, as you said, never really reached those heights.
My best Swedish team over the last 30 years:
      Isaksson
      R Nilsson - P Andersson - Granqvist - Augustinsson
      Ljungberg - Thern - Kallstrom
      H Larsson
      K Andersson - Ibrahimovic
      S: Ravelli - Bjorklund - Mellberg - Schwarz - A Svensson - Forsberg - Brolin

@@jackmurphy6864 I think he showed great ignorance. Just becouse Sweden failed in WC 90 it doesnt mean that Sweden was bad. The Diffrence between success and failure in the Biggest sport in the World is very small. Injuries, form, tactics and luck can be the Diffrence between success and failure. Portugal and France didnt even qualify for WC 90, how bad were they? Denmark won Euro 92, and they were invited as subs for Jugoslavia. That just shows how competitive Football is. Maybe he was stuck in time somewhere around the Childhood of the World Championships. When the differences between national teams were large and matches often ended 10-1 and 7-0 so on.
