  • Princess Cruises Reviews: "Pick a different cruise line. Princess Cruises is awful. My Princess Cruises first and last cruise ever! This 11 day nightmare couldn't end soon enough. The weather was terrible which couldn't be helped but we only had 4 destination stops and one got canceled, so we had 8 cruise days of monotony. All excursions were also cancelled, they don't just refund your card, you have to wait 3 weeks for a check in the mail. ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD OR DRINK OPTIONS FOR DIABETICS. No sugar free cocktails, no sugar free sodas, no sugar free red bull or rockstar, no sugar free hot chocolate, no sugar free desserts...."

This is the most bizarre princess cruise review ever. What ship was this? Nothing about this even makes sense 😂. There’s sooo much to do. There’s always sugar free options.
Alaska is not a simple introduction. Alaska is unpredictable. Should go to the Caribbean if you want consistency.

We did a 10 day Alaskan cruise last year and it was amazing. All 18 cruises I’ve been on have been. Not sure about everything she’s saying. Kind of sounds off to me. Just walk past the gold and everything else. Never had high pressure sales anyplace.

Sounds like they should have done more research before booking a cruise. She definitely picked the wrong cruise line and perhaps destination. If you purposely picked a ship to avoid a “Party Ship” then why are you surprised that you were bored. There is also many videos on CZcams that tell you when the best time of the season to cruise in Alaska. Early and late in the season is always the worse for weather. There are also several CZcamsrs with food restrictions like “Life with Favor” who tell you what cruise lines are best and will accommodate you for specific dietary needs.

I have been Diabetic for over 20 years and I have been on 16 (soon to be 17) cruises and NEVER had a problem with the food. Don't understand where the "fishy" remarks are based. I have always said that if one is bored on a cruise it is their own fault because there is something to do all of the time. Doesn't sound like cruising is for you.

Ignore this video. Princess is one of the best cruise lines out there. Yeah, it sucks when your itinerary gets changed. It really does, but it happens and sometime for what seems to be no good reason. There were sugar free deserts on her ship. There was diet coke on her ship. These are everywhere. And with an entire buffet and several dining rooms, there were things for a diabetic to eat. Come on now, diabetes is super common, there were things for her to eat. I hope you choose to enjoy your next cruise and enjoy yourself.

@@PissedConsumerCom Do you think you were fair with your comments? Could have made it enjoyable if you wanted to? I've never seen a ship without diet coke or other food and items to easily accommodate diabetics. About 9% of the US has diabetes. Any business who doesn't accomodate diabetics would be cutting thier own throats. Businesses want to serve as many people as they can Princess is a great cruise line and in my opinion only, you trashed them.

Other than the fact that this woman did no research and ruined her own cruise it was the fish thing. I just don't know what she's talking about. As a retired chef I can tell you that nothing in those kitchens is cut on the same cutting board. The boards are color coated to cut specific foods. If the board is red its for cutting meat, yellow is chicken, blue is fish, green veg etc... The boards are double cleaned and sanitized after each use. Different foods are stored away from each other as well. There's no cross contamination ever. I have no idea what she's talking about.

I will admit I didn't watch this video! But I have done a 10 day Princess cruise from San Francisco to Alaska. It was great! And yes we also had a lot of Asians on our sailing. That's part of the fun to come in contact with other people!! I saw so much Mahjong playing!! Research is key. Always notify the cruise line about dietary issues and maybe this nice lady should find other vacations options.

Some things aren’t adding up here…..
From the description (an 11-day cruise to Alaska on Princess) and her comment that they live in California, it sounds like they were doing an out and back from San Francisco.
    1. She complains about it being boring. Their first few days would have been sea days, where entertainment is provided, but they are sea days. Still, lots of activities on board.
    2. She seems to assume that because they asked if there would be a ‘fridge in the cabin that Princess would know automatically know that her husband was diabetic. You need to specifically advise any cruise line, in advance of your cruise, of any special dietary needs. The cruise lines are used to, and good at, accommodating these needs.
    3. The issue with the headboard should have been raised with their cabin attendant.
    4. Poor weather at the start of the Alaska season is not unusual. It can be wonderful and the start of season cruises are cheaper due to higher likelihood of poor weather. Also, she does say she grew up in Alaska, and so should know what Alaska weather can be like.
    5. With regards to “every table being taken” at meals, I wonder why they did not eat in the main dining room (which is usually open for all meals on sea days), as opposed to the buffet [which she seems to be describing].
    6. It sounds like they only looked at the Princess provided excursions. There are lot of non-cruise line excursion options in Alaska.
    7. I can see some higher end cruise lines, or expedition cruises, providing wake up calls for Northern Lights, but would not expect that level of service on a mainstream line such as Princess.
Bottom line is that you can have a great cruise experience, but you need to do your research in advance of booking.

With over 150 days on Princess Cruises 2 of which were Alaska cruises we've never experienced any of these issues. You learn that beginning and end of season itineraries are always cheaper, and it is for the reason of unpredictable weather. The cruise lines are not there to entertain just your party, there are plenty of things to do and see while on a sea day, you just have to experiment sometimes and do something different. Seeing the name of your channel intrigued me to checking it out but it really seems that it is a channel to just complain about anything and everything just to catch new or try to keep viewers.

Im a diabetic with insulin and NEVER HAD A PROMBLE with the food, nor desserts onboard. There’s always sugar free options. I find it hard to believe that a crew member would say the first cruises of the year, due to bad weather Princess will cancel all the shore excursion. NOT TRUE!!. I only go to Alaska May and first week of Sept, and had NOT had my shore excursion cancelled. Weather changes is not the responsibility of Princess.. talk to GOD if you want to complain... Everything in this review is wrong. Princess offers sugar free and gluten-free free foods at every meal, you can put your dietary restrictions in the app such as being diabetic so your servers are aware, the room service app does allow you to customize your food order (although, from personal experience, they don't always pay attention to it), don't be an idiot and go to AK when it's late winter/early spring just so you can save yourself money; AK only has three main ports to visit - the others are just towns with a dock; Princess has entertainment - not sales - going on all day from trivia to enrichment seminars to dance classes to corn hole tournaments and more; if she was on the Majestic, yes - there is a higher number of Asians on board because the ship was built to sail exclusively in Asia until the C-word changed the world in 2020, but the food doesn't all taste like fish just because the signs are dual language; I've never had an 8 foot headboard in any Princess cabin; I've never seen a hot dog place on a Princess ship; if they only ate in the buffet, the non-existent hot dog place and the pizza place, how could she take a picture of the French Onion soup served in the main dining room? I'm not going to say that this review is a pack of lies, but I'm certainly thinking it.

So glad you were not on the Princess Alaska cruise I was on! Even though there is a fair amount of marketing going on (I skipped all of that), there are events all day and evening long! They give you a flyer each evening listing it all. I was actually a little overwhelmed with all the choices. Several dining rooms are complimentary and you can actually make reservations ahead so you don't have to wait. Food is GREAT, and diabetics certainly can plan food choices. Buffet was well stocked, and there was a section for sugar free and gluten free. The excursion that was cancelled on my trip (high wind prevented docking) was refunded to my account on the ship. I did get a small check later for what I didn't spend on trinkets from that refund. I would go again and I had an inside cabin! They announced a whale sighting on the PA in the hall one time. Other things were announced also. Staff was SUPER friendly and helpful and the tap water taste was a little weird, but I got bottled water at a good price. Try a different type of vacation next time.

I think they’ve cheapened themselves lately and done some really stupid things -but and this is a big but, on the cruises that I went on, they all had sugar-free desserts and everything was labelled, be it vegetarian, coeliac, sugarfree milk free -all that sort of stuff. Apparently, it was overbooked because not only did they cancel us ( and no not all the whale watching w=excursions were cancelled, but we were) BUT we were not notified. WHen we hadnt gotten the excursion tickets the night before, i went and asked . It was THEN I was told we were cancelled and the refund would be OBC on our account. Well you can imagine what excursions were left to book THE NIGHT BEFORE THE PORT. anD NEVER GOT N ANSWER AS TO WHY WE GOT BUMPED WHNE WE HAD BOOKED 10 MONTHS OUT. I also had problems with my first and last ever Princess cruise. I can't say ther was any major problem with the food it was ok but nothing special. My son is severely disabled and was looking forward to the kids club which he has always attended on cruises but the lift taking him up to the games deck was broken for most of our cruise and even when available the staff asked me to come and collect him as they weren't prepared to be inclusive. The standard of cleanliness left a lot to be desired and the entertainment in the evening shows was also very poor. We ate one night in the Italian speciality restaurant as it was offered as a courtesy because I complained and all I can say is I was happy I hadn't paid for it as it was nothing special. I can honestly say it is the only cruise I have ever been on which I would have cheerfully left and flown home early had it been possible. Unfortunately it wasn't as my son needs lots of medical equipment so we just had to stick it out. Needless to say we won't use them again
