  • After dropping 5 figures on a new Can-Am Spyder or Ryker, you may be looking to save a bit when it comes to purchasing motorcycle gear. In this video, I share some of my top picks for budget helmets that carry higher safety certifications than others at their respective price ranges (along with other nice features).

      Thanks! For a little more budget consicous, I'd look at the Bell SRT modular. However, if you're going for a more premium modular, I'd take a look at the Shoei Neotec 2.

    I rocked the HJC i10 for 2 years however I upgraded to a Ruroc 4.0 late last year & couldn’t be happier!

      Nice! I'm always tempted by the Rurocs, but I think I'm going for a Shoei or an Arai next.

    I use modular Shoei Neotech EC certified on my Ryker. Previously was using Louis Pilot half visor on my 2 wheel Aquila GV 250, however decided to upgrade to modular in favor of safety/convenience balance. Like you mentioned - talk to somebody, drink a milkshake, etc

      Nice! The Neotech is definitely top of my list as far as modulars go. I haven’t gotten one yet cause I’m trying to cut down on milkshakes 😆

      @@3WheelKhalil yeah, Shoei helmets are considered to be top line of the helmets and I definitely enjoy mine

      Though I think that it may be an overkill for Ryker, but on the other hand, it is your “second skin” and your equipment can’t be an overkill :)

    after borrowing many helmets from firends, 3 things I look,quiet , low buffeting and airflow. I ended with a c3 pro for me and wife, I wanted the c5 cause better airflow but my pocket didn't like the idea

      @3WheelKhalil  Před rokem +1

      Great points! People underestimate how good helmet design can affect buffeting. Folks usually go straight for a windscreen, but I’d argue that upgrading to a better helmet will net a lot more comfort in that area as well.

    I was in a low speed wreck this past May. I broke (BROKE not cracked) six ribs in my chest, and six in my back along with my left scapula. Also significant soft tissue damage top my left shoulder. I was wearing a thick, bullhide armored jacket, but had I not been wearing a quality helmet, this would have been a fatal incident. I cannot agree more with the premise of this video, spend a few extra $$ and get a VERY good helmet! I was riding my Heritage Softail Classic, I'm selling that bike and have bought a 2019 Spyder F3T.

      Glad you made it out of that experience and lived to tell the story! It sucks to think about, but it's the reality of riding motorcycles. We can't control everything, but wearing a good helmet is well within our control. Stay safe out there and have fun on that new Spyder!

    I'm sporting the HJC i90 modular helmet that has the ECE22.05 rating and is (at least in the EU) P and J rated, so you can ride it with the chin bar down and up with good protection. Mind you, not all modular helmets are rated or tested with the chin bar up, so pay attention to that too. The ECE22.06 is the new standard (and apparently mandatory from 2024 onward in the EU) so if you're in for a new helmet, check out helmets that adhere to that newer standard. Good advice all around Khalil, everyone is free to pick the gear they want, but I'm actually glad to live in a country that has mandatory helmet laws. Wouldn't wanna ride without one, just not worth it.
    Note: ECE stands for Economic Commission for Europe.

      Exactly, I would never ride without one. Thanks for sharing the exact standards! Hopefully, it helps someone while looking for their next helmet.
