You have heard of both petite jeans and short jeans, but do you know the differences? Did you assume they are the same thing? Which is a better choice for petite women?
In this video, I explain to you short jeans vs petite jeans, which are actually two different concepts. They are often used interchangeably and most people do not know their differences.
Petite jeans is made to suit women under 5'4", and it makes several important adjustments to fit shorter women.
Short jeans, on the other hand, is shorter, but they are not petite sized.
Does that mean short jeans does not work well for petite women?

Whether short jeans or petite jeans fit you better really depends on your body type- the vertical body type that looks at the proportion of your torso, rise and legs and how they are in relation to one another.

Yes! I thought for yrs I needed petite jeans, but they never felt comfortable. I found the regular jeans that are short fit way better as I have a longer rise. I sew & have been making my own jeans now and have to add to the rise.
I have longer rise as well so no problem with regular jeans except for length.
I love how everyone comes in different shapes and sizes. Some are short and some are tall. Some are big and some are small! :) 💕

That Answer did shock me. I just knew the answer was going to be petite, but I do feel that regular always works for me when altered, but petite is hit or miss because I’m super curvy.

This information is so helpful! I was ordering new jeans and I had a dilemma on sizing due to my legs being short. Petite inseam was 26.5 and Regular 29. Being 5'4" I needed the Regular so my jeans don't look too short.

I'm 5'2 and have a short torso. Mid rise fits me perfectly, high waisted is an awful look on me. I've never tried petite jeans, I'll try on some petite high waisted maybe they won't be too high on me
For your height I suggest you try petite!
OMG I thought petite was 5'2" and under no wonder I have such a problem! I'm under 5'0" so all pants are always too long.

Just for clarification ,since my body type is similar to yours, you would consider yourself petite (under 5"4') but would prefer short vs petite jeans since short version has a higher rise, whereas petite has a shorter rise? Also, for tops, if you given a choice, would you pick up regular or petite versions of the top? Thanks so much!
Hi thank you! That’s right- I have longer rise so regular size fits me better. My tops are mostly petite size since regular size sleeve are too long!

Clare- if you have long legs then you might be ok with just regular jeans. If you have shorter rise, then petite works better. I have a video on torso vs leg proportion to determine if you are long torso or long leg body type. Suggest you watch that!
I am a larger petite gal with no female hips. From this video, Imwoulsnbe short. I can get 3 hands, and then some, from under breasts to belly button. My issue with most pants and jeans included is that pants are cut for the female hourglass that I lack and the unfilled areas look like floppy ears on me! Also, would you be able to recommend different websites that sell boots for us girls with LARGE calves? Thanks Chi!😊

@@PetiteDressing I'm 5'2" as well. I find it difficult to find jeans. I have an athletic body and a butt. My torso and legs are proportional.
So should petites wear high rise jeans which would be 2/3 of their height? Or not,; sorry I'm confused.
I personally love high waisted jeans. But we always need to balance it out, as each petite also has different body features. Do you have short torso/long legs (even though you are petite)? I have a friend with that body type and I would not recommend high waist to her because her torso would look even shorter! If you are not that body type, I would recommend high waist for you!
