Good morning all - the sun is shinning here in Guelph Ontario Canada 🇨🇦. The magnolia trees and forsythia are blooming - Spr🌱ng is well on its way. Take good care. 💪🏽💜💪🏽
with the buried treasure seeds I put them in the fridge for about 2 weeks is all (even tho PW specifically told me they wouldn't need it-maybe they store them refrigerated...) anyway when I started the seeds I started them on a heat mat and the whole tray germinated, Yea!
Love how your videos have progressed over the years. Not only do we get to see you but we now see more Aaron and more Benjamin and now Paul. Hope we see more of Paul in the future. What a lucky man to be working in your gardens with your family as his day to day job. Love to you all from across the pond. 🏴 🇬🇧
Good morning !Totally off topic . My granddaughters Sophia who is four , Charlotte 18 months old , and daughter in law went to a Nursery Open House on Saturday, April 17 . It was a beautiful day in Hicksville , Ohio . I had worked the morning and was so excited to have an afternoon girls day out ! I was introduced to Garden Answer last year in March by sister . She told me I think you would enjoy and learn so much . So I started watching since I had time off work . I quickly became addicted! We have five acres of land always enjoyed container gardening but now due to gaining knowledge and more enthusiasm because of you I stepping out of my comfort zone. adding a cut flower garden and adding more to landscaping and it is very exciting time of the year. Oh so back to granddaughters they are also are enjoying looking and loved the greenhouse outing . Sophia was looking at tags is able to read symbols of which plants are for full sun , no sun and part sun . While waiting line to pay for plants I handed the girls the Proven Winners idea book . Sophia was going through it and said , “look Nana it is your favorite person Laura . “ I loved her statement . So Laura thank you for sharing all your knowledge and information . The last year has been a difficult year . I have found a new passion for gardening it may not be grand or the best but I am making it my own with a wealth of information from you and your husband love him too ! Thank you again !
Instead of baby fever, you give me garden fever 🤣 everything looks so beautiful with the yellows, whites, and soft pinks. Very bright and joy filled! We bought a home back in January and unfortunately I won't be able to plant anything this year (might be able to in the fall, we will see)... The yard had been severely overgrown and the beds are full of buckthorn saplings we need to remove, so until that is all resolved I'm living vicariously through you and your gardens 🤣❤️❤️❤️
Because of you I planted a dozen tulip bulbs in these pots I purchased, and most of them bloomed in spectacular fashion over this past week. It made my heart so happy!! Thank you Laura. 🤗
I felt a little relieved not only seeing that your buried treasure seeds did not germ and also reading that others had issues too. I was most excited about these seeds when I did my winter sowing and was so disappointed when I didn't get anything. Watching your videos not only inspires me but also helps this beginner not feel so bad when things go wrong.
Today is my birthday 🥳 and there's nothing better than a coffee and Garden Answer to start my special day off on the right foot! Loving the pots all together, gives me Claus vibes 🌺🌼❤️
I had 14 out of 15 Berried Treasure Red seeds germinate. I did have them in the freezer for a month. My seeds were delivered in a box with other things I ordered. They were in perfect condition. I also used self watering trays and a seed heating mat with the clear dome on until they all germinated. They were under grow lights for about 14 hours each day.
As rewarding as it is to plant new things, tidying up after winter is just SO satisfying! Watching you clean up the ivy and hellebores made me so happy for spring!
Good morning all! Any Alabama viewers out there? My daffodils came up in January, bloomed in February and froze in March! I’m itching to plant our garden but we could get frost this week. Ahh, springtime in the south!
Tuscaloosa/Northport here. No daffodils but I had to cover my 3 hydrangeas in March because of the freeze. I just planted them last year so they are baby plants. 2 plastic buckets and a cardboard box did the trick. LOL! Such a stylish look in the flower bed but it worked and the hydrangeas are looking good and greening out. I moved to AL at the end of 2019 so last year was a learning curve for me as to what grows well plant and shrub wise in the south. So different than in the cold northern climate. The grass in the lawn is a different animal too. I'm use to taking care of KY Bluegrass and not Bermuda grass. Very different grasses with very different care.
Love to start my day with you and your family and what is going on out west. Thank you. Putting all these bulbs in the non formal tree area back by the high tunnel might be fun for next spring. Just thinking. Have a great day. All look great. love the grouping of the 3 pots by the kitchen. Have you ever thought of doing a calendar with your pictures and then selling it on your site??? Have a great day. Thank you.
Yikes! I screeched out loud when the planter slipped in the tractor bucket! So glad it stayed put! Thank you for sharing your craft with us and for being such a great teacher. I took your advice recently and went to my local garden center to just see what they had and read tags. Was so proud of myself for knowing what most of the plants were (solely because I have learned from you)!
I'm glad to see other comments on Berried Treasure... and I was so glad to hear Laura say it. I had 2 seeds germinate and I did freeze them for 4 weeks. They are the smallest, most coddled seedlings I have and I fully expect them not to make it. I'm a bit disappointed but now at least I know it wasn't likely something I did wrong. I only hope my garden center has them this year. The established plants look easy to grow!
Since I live smack dab in the middle of our downtown, I have some perennial space but do a ton of gardening in containers on my rooftop area.....I hung on every word Laura! Thanks so much! ♥️👍
Hello, love the way you grouped the containers in both places, I've said it before and I'll say it again "you are such an inspiration to me " thank you so much I'm going through a rough time right know just watching your videos is very helpful. When the videos are fast forward it makes me laugh, thank you once again for sharing . You can and your family have a wonderful day, Jean Brewer from Oklahoma Panhandle 6b.
Mine didn’t either. Had first order of crushed seeds replaced. Stratified AGAIN, planted, only one seedling sprouted after a mint.... I’ve requested a refund.
I also had no luck with Berried Treasure. My seeds looked like dust, I will NEVER buy the seeds again. I would like to try to find the plants if I can.
One more comment please. I think Benjamin would love to swing. My great-nieces have swings from tree branches and they have a grand time swinging. Reminds me of my childhood......
It’s not user error, Laura! I also ordered and planted the Buried Treasure Red using the winter sowing method. I put them in the freezer for five weeks before planting, I got NOTHING 😜 not one seedling. All my other winter sowed seedlings made a huge showing! Love your channel and was so glad to learn this seed starting method. You are a wealth of gardening knowledge.
Laura, I hope you see this comment: I tried the PW Berried Treasure seeds in both seed starting trays and milk jug mix. I found that all of those that germinated in the milk jugs damped off and died, while those that were in seed starting cells did wonderfully. I germinated straight from the packet from PW, and the rest I put into the freezer for a few days is all. Had great germination!
All of my berried treasure (pink) came up! I put them in the refrigerator dry and forgot about them for almost two months. Neglect is like 90% of gardening sometimes haha.
I bought the berry treasure pink seeds and I had 6 out of 8 seeds germinate. I did cold stratification in the freezer for a couple of weeks...Some of them came up within the first week and some took well into the 2nd week. Proven Winners sent an email with several tips and tricks for anyone that bought the new seeds this year! Very helpful!
I kept all my bulbs in pots in my basement all winter. No watering. I put them outside one month ago here in Massachusetts. They are just beginning to come up. Last year I let them bloom in the house and they all came up at the same time in March. My house looked like a florist, but I'm glad I put them outside on my front steps this year, even though they are taking longer to bloom. Love your pots that you placed outside the door. They look amazing.
I had the hardest time with my berried treasure germination. I did winter sowing (that didn't work), as well as in a greenhouse setting. Out of 3 6-packs I planted, only 5 plants came up (only 1/3!!). A little disappointed but feeling glad i'm not the only one.
Please be careful Laura, I was just like you powering through lifting and digging and never suffered after a good sleep until a few years ago, I woke up after gardening with a stiff neck and back pain that lasted months resulting in an mri, turns out I have arthritis and quite a lot of wear and tear on my neck and spine and am no longer able to dig or enjoy planting the same .. I am only 40 and live for gardening but will not push past my limits on a good day anymore so I can hopefully enjoy plenty more years pottering with less pain.. We don’t realise what we put our body through when we enjoy it, I hope to watch your videos for many many more years so meant with love 💕 Xx
Thank you for giving me my daffodil fix! As a child I lived on a farm that people called the “Daffodil Farm” in Cecilton, MD. I have never had much luck with growing them now that I am in Northern MN, and I miss them so much!
Btw All - Colorblends is now taking orders - get those bulbs orders in for Fall planting! I had to get some of those Cassada Daffs - too lovely to pass up!
I didn't get any berried treasure, I'm glad it's not just me. And I did not freeze them either, maybe that is why. Thanks for your videos! Always a highlight of my day :)
I started mine a couple months ago and I have the tiniest things that sprouted and that’s where they stayed. Seems like no more growth. They are under the grow lights every day. I did everything on the packet but that was a lost cause.
To combat the uneven growing of the daffs and tulips in pots, perhaps you could turn the pots every so often in the spring. Then the heat and sunshine would hit them a little more evenly. Not possible with your large drip pots, but might work with some of the smaller pots. Love those concrete pots - stunning!
I had the same experience with the PW strawberries. I had mine indoors under the grow lights, with good moisture. I ended up with two red, two pink and one white. I wouldn’t mind except the seeds were expensive and there weren’t many in the packets. So far the red are doing best, the one white is looking sad. I’m just hoping to get one healthy one from each color that I can propagate from runners.
I just commented on her video. My results for outdoors were similar to Laura’s and my indoor starts were like yours with my White ones struggling or non existent. There must be a temperature difference between the different varieties. I have my indoor plants on a heat mat and I initially checked on their water levels twice a day misting them with a fine mister. Now I just water them from the bottom once a day and I’ve added a fan on them. I will continue to post pictures of my results on my Instagram @Doreymoto
@@newlife533 thanks, I’ve left them feedback so we’ll see. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if they’d just said they have a poor germination rate and included a good number of seeds to make up for it.
No more PW strawberry seeds for me! Two growing plants from box store are going wild in my garden. No more winter sowing, either. BUT Espoma starter goes into EVERY hole before I plant!!
Good morning, Laura ☕️ Got muscles 💪🏻? Dang girl, moving those concrete containers is not easy! The Daffodils 🌼 are beautiful 😻 I love the placement of the containers; they all look beautiful. Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈
Oh those grouped containers look wonderful. French country. Your getting there Laura. I love to come around a corner and there are bunches of beautiful containers grouped anywhere and everywhere.
I was wondering if you were going to do an update video! Yay! I did the winter sowing for the first time and most everything came up :) I will do it again next year now :)
I can totally relate to moving pots around. I use the Worx Wheelbarrow/Garden Cart. The cool thing about this is that you can use it, obviously, as a wheelbarrow and then adjust it to a dolly. It also has a sling adjustment which works best for larger pots and for boulders too.
got your exercise in with all those pots! it is something to be grateful for when you have the health and stamina to do some of the heavier chores around the garden, and i am thankful for that... i'm going to have to try to control myself on my intended daffodil order next year, lol... daffys do much better here than tulips since we don't get that cold during the winter so i want to up my daffy game, but oh my word... i have a tiny yard, so i have to have some control, lol... they are lovely... i tried the winter sowing and was a complete failure so i haven't tried it again; i think yours did really well! always love seeing Benjamin and Russell out keeping you company, too... looked like a really nice day to be outside! thanks for the video!!
Laura, my berried treasure strawberries never germinated either - I did both winter sowing and under grow lights with cold stratification. I don’t know what happened but you’re not alone!
Did you fertilize the "winter sowing method" containers? Your hair is getting long! So pretty! I have watched my share of gardening shows on TV and the internet. You are the best gardening host or hostess, ever! What you do and how you do it (your tone of voice, energy level, projects, personal life, etc.etc.) are so enjoyable! Thank you!
Good morning everyone☀️ Look at those beautiful flowers 😍 Video request, could you do a similar video to the Greenhouse Inspiration video and do it to viewer yard before and afters? I love that video and the part I really appreciate is listening to Laura’s opinions and thoughts since she has great experience and insight. I think it would be so wonderful to do the same with yard/garden before and afters and gain all of that inspiration and hear Laura’s input. Thanks to Laura, Aaron and Ken for all of your hard work!
Anyone else find it funny that she says, "...the smaller cement containers I can just pop around in the landscape.." after saying Aaron needed to help with the big ones. I was thinking if I tried moving any of them (wet or dry) I'd end up in the hospital, LOL!
I grew berried treasure strawberries from seed this year too and all 16 seeds germinated in less than 7 days. I did cold stratify them for 3 weeks in the refrigerator. Unfortunately only one lonely plant survived because damping off swept through 😭😭. But I’ve learned a lot this year. After that I mixed cinnamon in the soil and on top after sowing all my other seed varieties I’m starting this year. I also only water with cooled chamomile tea. So far I have not had the damping off problem again.
Here on the East coast of Canada I only start seeds in April because it is too cold to put plants out in the food forest until Late May/June and my house would be overrun with pots. lol :P Cheers

Can you imagine being Laura and Aaron's neighbors!?!? Besides the view, the random gift bouquets, etc.!
I think your dream came true to have a grouping like Claus Dalby! They look gorgeous and I agree they are perfect in a grouping!
Now she needs to raise some, at least on the front porch.
I was thinking the same thing!
Yes she should do it every year! Clausby vibes all the way, it looks soooo good, and just wait till the rest of the bulbs start popping up!
Yes, loving it, Claus Dalby would be proud. Laura's golden touch as usual.
I was thinking the same!! Claus would be proud!
Holy cow! Or “ Mercy” as you would say… Where in the world do you get your strength and energy? You are truly amazing and a joy to watch!
Orchard meadow idea: all of the container bulbs can be planted under your fruit trees and let the grass stay long there. It will be so sweet and delicate looking! 🌷🌳
I think she said that she wanted to put bulbs that will hopefully naturalise in and around the fruit trees

I think my favourite is "The Russel" plant. Seems healthy, movable, and cozy, and also really really sweet ❤️
Winters over really well, too! 😻
We have a Russell plant. But is an indoor plant 😊
Aww, love that Russell (kitty)
Every garden needs a Russell ♡♡♡

Your lucky🍀
May 1st was always a day to leave flowers at people's doors. A tradition not acknowledged as much now. The containers are beautiful!
May Day!
as kids we would make paper baskets and pick flowers and leave them on neighbors door steps! what great memories.
@@cynthiatett5933 I was gonna say that!! 😊👌
I never heard of that tradition! It’s lovely!!
We always took flowers from our garden to our teachers on May Day! I’m in my 30s now and it was definitely not a things others did.
I’m loving the daffodils even more than the tulips this year! And the pots scattered around are just perfect. 🌼
Myself and especially yellows this year makes everything is smiling at the sun!!

Love your passion & energy for gardening!! You're an inspiration Laura!!
Interesting, no watering, huh? Did the soil stay moist or did it dry up?
I had the hardest time with my berried treasure germination. I did winter sowing (that didn't work), as well as in a greenhouse setting. Out of 3 6-packs I planted, only 5 plants came up (only 1/3!!). A little disappointed but feeling glad i'm not the only one.
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one that will buy a bunch of flowers with a plan in mind and then change everything up mid-stream planting! 😄
Laura! the grouping is AWESOME good choice I love... love it🥰😊
Btw All - Colorblends is now taking orders - get those bulbs orders in for Fall planting! I had to get some of those Cassada Daffs - too lovely to pass up!
Laura - you could make a dirty wet mop beautiful! Those pots. are 🥰
I didn't get any berried treasure, I'm glad it's not just me. And I did not freeze them either, maybe that is why. Thanks for your videos! Always a highlight of my day :)
I froze mine and did not get one😢
I froze my seeds. Under lights and warming mat. 🤞 for germination after 14 days...
I started mine a couple months ago and I have the tiniest things that sprouted and that’s where they stayed. Seems like no more growth. They are under the grow lights every day. I did everything on the packet but that was a lost cause.
Do not freeze the seeds and p.w will replace the seeds
As for PW b t plants, I am so over growing them for fruit. Too pe-uny! Into containers for floral and minor fruiting interest they go!
Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I have mine indoors and they're not doing great. Maybe 40% germ rate.
Mine did nothing, so disappointing!
They will replace the seeds for free they know they are not coming up dnt not freeze the seeds or put in the fridge
@@newlife533 thanks, I’ve left them feedback so we’ll see. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if they’d just said they have a poor germination rate and included a good number of seeds to make up for it.
My ambition this fall is to buy lots of bulbs for spring blooms....mainly tulips and daffodils. You have inspired me so much!
No more PW strawberry seeds for me! Two growing plants from box store are going wild in my garden. No more winter sowing, either. BUT Espoma starter goes into EVERY hole before I plant!!
They will replace the seeds for free and you dnt need to place them in the fridge or freezer
Nice variety of seedlings! Can’t wait to see when you plant them out and see them bloom later on.
I was wondering if you were going to do an update video! Yay! I did the winter sowing for the first time and most everything came up :) I will do it again next year now :)
Love the groupings of planters! ❤️
I love the gathering of Urns (by the porch) there. I would leave them as a grouping always...then change out the flowers seasonally.
I can totally relate to moving pots around. I use the Worx Wheelbarrow/Garden Cart. The cool thing about this is that you can use it, obviously, as a wheelbarrow and then adjust it to a dolly. It also has a sling adjustment which works best for larger pots and for boulders too.
I so love your enthusiasm and joy! It’s all so very awesome!
Laura the garden looks beautiful daffodils great 👍blessing to you and your family.
got your exercise in with all those pots! it is something to be grateful for when you have the health and stamina to do some of the heavier chores around the garden, and i am thankful for that... i'm going to have to try to control myself on my intended daffodil order next year, lol... daffys do much better here than tulips since we don't get that cold during the winter so i want to up my daffy game, but oh my word... i have a tiny yard, so i have to have some control, lol... they are lovely... i tried the winter sowing and was a complete failure so i haven't tried it again; i think yours did really well! always love seeing Benjamin and Russell out keeping you company, too... looked like a really nice day to be outside! thanks for the video!!
Hahaha I loved watching the sped up container grouping, and Benjamin running around randomly with tools hahahha
Beautiful, can’t wait until spring! January is so dark and cold!
The arrangement of containers looks lovely!
WOW so many beautiful bulbs and gorgeous containers 🥰
Laura, my berried treasure strawberries never germinated either - I did both winter sowing and under grow lights with cold stratification. I don’t know what happened but you’re not alone!
Wonderful video! The container arrangements are awesome. Your daffodils are amazing. So beautiful!
@@dlsdyer9071 what videi stop?
good moring
:) and you
I grew berried treasure strawberries from seed this year too and all 16 seeds germinated in less than 7 days.
Your touches are really coming together! Love it!
