Because that is the direction the sport needs to go.... Giving a shit about teh insights of non-fans is what lead from the golden era of the 90's to where we are today. And paying someone to cover your sport in an attempt to bring in the dudebro money is not going to produce long term fans.

Barstool is not clever or anything more than sophomoric (though they have more money than I probably ever will) shite. Waste of resources, imo. Instead of chasing douchey side show fans, just make the racing the focus. The problems mostly started when Brian France happened.
dgrblue 4 well that waste of resources cause a big jump in markets that aren’t particularly associated with nascar, Boston itself saw a 32% rise in viewership and DC saw viewership go up in around the high 20s. And since this guy is from Boston it’s easy to see the correlation, so this waste of resources actually helped nascar
Can’t spread what NASCAR is about by cutting people out of the fun. Barstool is all about the college aged sports fan and keeps it real. No matter what your view of barstool is, can’t deny how large of a presence they have on social media. They can really help NASCAR reach a brand new audience.
