  • This is actually a review about three commercial slingshots (Barnett Strike, Trumark S9FO, BIG). They are compared to two homemade slingshots. The maximum power has been in the focus of the tests, and four different ammo types have been clocked The homemade slinghsot is the winner hands down!
    You can read more about the tests and see the full charts at

    Thanks! Well, I started to make my own slingshots when I was nine years old. Stopped doing them when "other interests" kicked in, and picked it up again a year ago.

    In the under 20 dollar range, I recommend the Saunders Hawk. 15 dollars plus shipping. You want to get anything cheaper, hit the woods and carve your own one.

    I just had an idea for ammunition: Razor Apples.
    Blades to cut, and the apples because they will smash - spreading the razors. A bit like a razor grenade! XD

    Those slingshots are legal in Germany (where I live). Here, only wristbraced models are banned because in the 1970's, demonstrants shot at the cops with them and the cops got scared.

    The slomos are done with the Casio EX-F1 Pro, it can shoot in 1200 frames per second (normal video is 50 or 60 frames per second). So this is recorded 20 times slower than real time. A great camera for that purpose.

    I did not test the Hunter with the heaviest ammo. It would have outperformed it otherwise. Heavy ammo generates more energy! But for hunting, you need a certain minimum speed, otherwise you can only shoot from small distances.

    may i just say you have a lovely garden.
    somewhat interesting how commercial slingshots all have the slap. it maybe attributed to the length of the cord, as well as its orientation on both x and y axis. the freddy kruger meets all criteria that eliminate the 'slap'. what would appeal to most people will be the elimination of the slap, so that in however you use a slingshot, there is a guarantee there is no harm to the shooter without compromising power, accuracy and speed. great vid so far.

    Danny, braced slingshots are illegal in Germany so I never used one. But I would think that an arm brace in fact makes it easier to shoot as there is no force on the wrist.

    That is a common emotion that I call hunter's sadness. First you can't wait to shoot at the beast, and once you killed it, you feel sorry for it. Ask your wife to prepare a meal with the meat, or BBQ it, that usually takes care of the sadness. If not, have a beer with the meat.

    i love my barnette cobra it has low lying forks a front sight great power and a detachable are brace, but never use rocks as they don't always stay and i almost broke my thumb when a rock came out of the pouch and hit my hand, dumb ny laws ban wrist braced slingshots too, though the cobra is great brace or no brace.

  • @Slingshotchannel
    @Slingshotchannel  Před 15 lety

    Ah, OK. So forget my comment. You have just learned a lesson: Never aim a gun (or slingshot) at a target you do not want to hit.
    Please make sure to always wear safety glasses when you use slingshots. The rubber will tear sooner or later, and the eye is a very vulnerable thing.
