Do we just work our whole lives???

  • The thought of having to work a job the rest of my life depresses the shit out of me. I can't believe that this is the reality for me and most humans and there's no way to escape from it.
    But there is a solution. I really want to push for shorter hours and day workweeks. People should be living more quality lives.
    Also at a personal level self employment is always an alternative that can afford more freedom.

      I'm younger and still trying to figure everything out, because of that I feel the same way, or something very similar. At least for me I can pretty much point those feelings to a lack of purpose in my life. If we had a purpose and a point to the things we do everyday then everything would make sense and we would see everything through the eyes of that purpose. Simon Sinek has a book called "Start with Why", it's pretty much the same thing, what's your why for doing what you do, if there is none then what's the point in doing anything. I feel as though a lot of people have these feelings but they can't put a name to it or get to the root cause. If you can identify where it's coming from then you can start to try and work on whatever it is. I'm still trying to find my purpose and my why, I'm sure you understand but some days are a lot harder than others for me. I believe if we can figure out what gets us out of bed in the morning, or create that something then life will be a whole lot better and we'll be happier.

More and more people are becoming aware of this issue, and I feel like we're not really living. We're just existing in a system that's unfair, and no matter how hard you try, how many jobs you have, or how much money you make, it will never be enough. There will always be more problems, so I don't see the point of this situation. Nowadays, I just spend my money on things to keep me sane so I don’t go crazy.

If I was better with my money I could have gotten out earlier. When you’re young you feel good but at some point you get tired of all the bs. Everyone that reads this, do your best to plan and invest so you can retire as early as possible. Retirement is great. Now that I don’t have to be around people, I don’t want to be around anyone. When i worked a 9-5 my life was hell.
    I used to get up in the morning then go straight to work . Then worked for 8 hours in a soul destroying job that i hated. Then i would go home , eat , have a shower etc..... . And there wasnt really much time for me to do anything else apart watch a bit of tv then go to bed. Then i wud wake up the next day and repeat.
    At the weekend my life was about escaping the hell that i had endured the previous 5 days. But i didnt get much time to do it. For example despite having some free time i still had chores to do such as going grocery shopping and washing and drying my work clothes etc. ... . And the little time that i had flew by in the blink of an eye. Before i knew it it was back to the mysery of working like a robot for the next 5 days
    A year would pass by in the blink of an eye. Then another year. And i started thinking to myself "is this it?". "Is this my life". I was scared that my entire life was going to consist of me working a robotic existence for 5 days then escaping it for 2 days.

    One thought I persistently have is, "nothing I do will last." Like if I write a book, it's not gonna be remembered in fifty years--or will be reduced to a joke, like Lord of the Rings wound up being. If I build a building, it'll just get demolished the minute someone else thinks they can build a better building.
    So I start to think, why bother if at some point society is just gonna undo all my work anyway?
    Like imagine you were playing some really long video game, like Final Fantasy VII or something, but every once in awhile, at complete random, your save game gets erased and you have to start over. At that point I would just not even play the game anymore.

I found out that if I work at my interests/ dream, I’m happier and more willing to put in as much time as needed to get to that goal. But when I’m working for someone else’s benefit, it really makes me feel stuck and depressed. Why? Because I’m going nowhere. Tomorrow is no better than today. I think what makes work demoralising for so many is the feeling that it's meaningless; and that's because the system is far too big. Essentially the problem is globalism. We're building the tower of Babel, with a global currency based on debt; kept propped up by pitting atomized people against each other in a game of who can collect the most casino tokens. Which is why everyone HAS to work all the time, even if their job is essentially value-less nonsense. The only antidote to that is small, independent nations with shared identity and heritage, where you work for your extended family as much as you do for yourself. But anyone who argues for that is labelled as racist and fascist which is how you know that's where to look.

    If you don't do something you love then it's awful. Unfortunately even the creative jobs that people are passionate about are actually ring fenced by something i can only describe as a cult, if you don't meet their moral, social, even political requirements (regardless of ability) you will be rejected. Imagine a genius being rejected by the science community? Well that's happening right now across multiple professional landscapes, especially creative ones. You're right, we live the wrong way but it's hard to imagine what could replace it? it's usually something even worse.

    Here's a re-frame for you; embrace your work! Love your work! Every day, I absolutely LOVED to get up, to face the challenges, to turn problems into opportunities. Opportunities equal greater income. Greater income equals more freedom. Greater freedom gives me the opportunity to recognize more opportunities and somewhere in there, an incredible passion emerged.
    The mental frame of "indentured servitude" will keep you there for ever. Building up your skills and taking on side-hustles will increase your abilities and value to clients.
    We are not victims, if we refuse to think of ourselves that way.

    As a guy who's been working w2 since the 1900's I've noticed that there are ways to get ahead. Be curious, get creative, there is usually a good investment to take advantage of. You only need a couple of good breaks to make it and become wealthy. Just in the last ten years houses went from 90,000 to 400,000, great landlord potential, tenants will pay your mortgage. back in 2021 when Russia was invading Ukraine oil skyrocketed then plumetted, another fantastic potential. Then in October bitcoin started to move again because of the terrible Chinese market and communism fuckin with the money. The liberals aren't going to help anyone out of poverty, don't fall for their old line about minorities and poor people can't get ahead without them, bla bla bla... I'd say work a little less and study the market a little more.

    The company I work for was bought out by a dutch company and they insisted we don't work any longer than 35 hours/week and we can work remotely. They give me 4 weeks PTO, and then New York state mandated an additional 56 hours of paid sick time. I'm super happy with my job, and I could see myself working this way happily until 60. As long as this keeps up🤞 So it is possible for work to not feel like slavery, we just need more companies to get on board, and quit feeding the Republican mindset that hard work in and of itself is a moral virtue.

    i think many people, including me, jump into housing they can't afford. That's a big part of stress; your major part of your expenses, plus maintenance if you own. Find a shack, or get roommates. This is war. You have to decide if things are important, or your time. I'm slowly downsizing, and i hardly have anything. France has a relaxed work atmosphere; a long break in the middle of the day and a 4 day work week. I may be wrong on the specifics, but the work environment is looser. We can do better. Let's start now. We don't have to live like this. We didn't set this up. I'm sure that people watching this video have ideas. In 2012 when i bought this house, i could easily make ends meet. Now, i have my brother renting the garage. I couldn't or wouldn't want to do it alone in this economy. Looking for relief any way i can get it, and for me it's cutting back on everything,

    You can live off the land if you want, but that's also a lot of work. ALOT of work. So, a career is typically easier. There are good jobs that don't suck the life put of you. For example, you can work at a Walmart Distribution weekend shift which is only three days Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It's three 11 hour shifts and pays $36 an hour. You get four days off every week. Just 12 days a month. Look into those types of jobs. You can get up to seven weeks of paid time off as well. Longer you stay, the more pto you get.

    • @EmeraldJade66
      @EmeraldJade66 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @TheAlphaOmegaX3 ... That's great and sounds like the perfect job IF you live near a Walmart Distribution Center/Warehouse and IF they're hiring at that! I don't live near one nor do a lot of people and I'd give anything to have a job like that or even a REMOTE job where I can be at home and work from home every day so I don't have to deal with peoples attitudes. Still looking after 6 months! Searching for and landing a job is work itself without pay. Then when you start working it's all down hill from there. Same ole same ole with long hours that feel never ending day after day and still in debt with no end in sight. Not all people can be lucky enough to have such a great paying job with little hours as you stated. How great it would be though! How I wish! 😞

    • @TheAlphaOmegaX3
      @TheAlphaOmegaX3 Před 2 měsíci

      @@TheAlphaOmegaX3 It's obvious that's what you were referring to when you stated that about the Walmart D. Center. However, yes it would be great to be able to move to be near one and to make a change, but one needs funds for that thus back to the job hunt until then.

    *I got news for you:* Since the dawn of man, all anyone ever did was work everyday, for their whole life (but you used to die by age 40 and now you die at 80).
    If you want to just give into hedonism and loaf around, feel free. You can actually do that right now, today. Never before in human history did anyone have that opportunity. You used to work to eat, and there was no guarantee your work would pay off and you wouldn't starve.
