The definition of sex addiction. What is it?
Sex addiction is the active use of a sexual behavior, whether it is masturbation, an internet porn addiction, fetishes and/or behavior with self or others in a compulsive life-destroying pattern. When you are addicted to sex it is called a sex addiction.
This is a real issue impacting millions of individuals, marriages, and families around the globe.The impact is felt in the life of the addict and his or her surrounding family members and friends. You and the one you love can recover from the damaging effects this can have on your relationship. Whether you are an addict or the partner of an addict: you are not alone and there is hope!
There are six different types of a sex addict. The more you know about what type you are, the more successful you can be in recovery. In my 20s I went to a sex addiction support group. It didn't help. I ended up sleeping with every woman there more then once.
Sex addictions should be taught in school, it would bring acknowledgement about this topic and might even help kids understand if the have an addiction or not and what people can do to help addicts of all categories.

My question is how come people aren’t writing a letter to congress to stop selling sex? But I’m a Christian Right now, and the reason I am is not because I needed an explanation for the end of the world, or the beginning. Frankly I don’t really care about that. What I needed was morals to hold myself to, a community to live and thrive within, and a true spirituality that reminds me, even in my absolute lowest moments I am loved and cared for and forgive for whatever I do. I knew I've had trouble with adult content for years, but once I got sober, I can see it's much deeper. I'm working on my drinking and tried a SAA meeting but I felt out of place. I think I'm taking on too much, I haven't yet done the steps for alcohol. It's possible my bad habits are spiking right now cause I just quit drinking. I've quit adult content before, idk if I need a whole new fellowship for it, we'll see.
The worst part of an adiction like this, is that you can acctually get atached/hooked to someone who you dont even sure of you like. But the chemestry on your brain, you lust, will blind you. And even when you see, you will want that "sloppy bj", or that "cheeks pounding" over your racionality. That can cost you years of your life, a divorce, never finding true love. I am currently going trough this right now. There are other ladys on the world worth keeping, screw that narcisist woman, if you need any advice dont be ashamed just ask. I feel you.

My boyfriend has this problem and this video is a godsend. It’s so accurate I can’t even believe. He’s been a sex addict since he was a teenager and he uses it to deal with his emotional issues. Praying that he will be able to get help. I think he could be a really good person if he could just get help.

Intimacy anorexia… that one hit me. My sex addiction is getting the better of me. I try being lovely dovey with my spouse but all the thoughts on the back of my head make it impossible to truly connect with her. I crave other women on the regular and it’s making my spouse feel lonely. “It’s like you’re here but you’re not here, you’re some where else in your head” is something I get told often.
That would probably make your spouse feel like an object there for convenience. They wouldn’t usually feel valued, respected and appreciated as a human being. It could dishearten them and make them feel disposable to you. It must be a complicated one for you. Referring to your situation. Wish you the best with your situation. I hope you find what works for you.

I have a problem of identifying emotions and then when i feel negative or lonely or something like that - i have an urge to stimulate myself with dopamine of some kind. So i tend to have self destrucitve ideas that paradoxicaly make me feel something better then what i was feeling. Sex, alcohol, impulsive actions, retail therapy, flirting….

You would probably do well to get with a counselor or have an accountability partner to help encourage you and hold you accountable to change. Talking about the issues and feelings you are dealing will help you cope with and make a plan on how to overcome them. You are not alone in this.

I have the first and the sixth , and it sucks a lot, u know. I start consumed p4rn when I was like 11, and now, with 18, i just don't wanna get into any relationship because every time i'm with friends,co-workers, or even relatives (yeah....) comes feelings and images in my head, and I just can't hold I need to relieve it's so intense! This has caused me problems in my routine, in my sleep, anxiety, in my social interactions, social phobia and even depression, you know, because I don't want to do it but I cant control myself. I was just impulsive and didn’t enjoy it. I even dissociated while having these experiences. I view it as a form of self-harm, a tricky cycle to end, feeling like something came over me and I couldn’t stop myself from letting things happen to me. I hate it.

Interesting. I used to have a mood component since I struggled with depression and anxiety which I found out 90% of that was because I had been chronically sleep depriving myself for a decade. I used to have a spiritual component since I was sleep deprived I couldn't think or introspect so I didn't know who I was. Which is a creative. Now I just need to fix my biological and psychological triggers.

I'm Proud of Everyone that can admit, I have a Problem. I'm dating someone, I really Love. I found out his past was over promiscuous. Which I found out it didn't stop when we got together. He claims, he never cheated on me. He claims, he was just playing with women and he watch porn when he was bored. I don't, believe him, knowing he was just giving himself away freely before me. I feel there was no way, that behavior magically Stopped. I keep begging him to talk to someone. I keep telling him, this actions are not Normal or Healthy. He says I have no problem, it's called being A Man. It makes me sad.
girl I am in the same boat as you. My guy admitted to having a problem with it but that's it...he doesn't seem to understand just how much it takes a toll on me. I really love him too, but I start med school in June and I don't think I can deal with this in med school. My question is... Is there a connection with undiagnosed adhd people and sex addiction. I'm 42 f and have only just been diagnosed with adhd. One of my odd traits growing up was being highly sexual like a teenage boy and masterbating alot. I never craved the attention or validation from the person... Just the passion of the encounter itself. I've always thought us adhd people are very instinct based... And when I'm its the physical side I chase... Adrenaline / dopamine rush and how it makes me feels not the emotional side...I don't consider that ... I hope someone understands lol

The guy that i was deeply in love with i think i was slipping into love addiction but we were both trying to practice healthy habits...we both were obessed with each other in a way...well he just passed away 3 weeks ago...being in love really keeps me from sex addiction...since he's passed I've been masterbating like everyday in fantasies of him in response to the trauma of his sudden unexpected passing...i get tempted to go back but my mind keeps me from doing it...i tell myself its not going to make things better, you're going to regret it, its not fulfilling...but the pain gets so deep sometimes i feel like i may sleep with someone i have no feelings or future with...i was sexually violated from a young age and my whole young adult life😩 he was the only one who ever understood me I feel so lonely without him

Love addict sounded more like one thing you were talking about.
Not sure which one I fit into but after my ex and I broke up I felt so depressed the only way I felt normal was sex, I had a lot of sex within a 6 month period. I do not recommend it, truly if you feel this way go to therapy.

At that part (regarding sexual abuse), I was referring to how men don't always think that what happened to them was sexual abuse (instead of just being "lucky"). Women, however, usually realize that they have been sexually abused.
Aside from that, women do struggle with sex addiction as well. The book "She Has a Secret" covers such.

I see this in a person along with all kinds of addictions but he just blames others abuses others has even raped and was put in prison for sexing children ,he says one,he was caught with one ,i honestly am not a Psychiatrist nor a physician but no doubt he is A Psycopath ,dangerous and criminal behavior but nothing is done as a neighbor not sexual in any manner ,trouble maker 😢i at my age will be moving because he will not seek help nor be honest ,i know this will help so many that want help,thank you for sharing 😊
