This could be called a Five Nights at Freddy's movie review, FNAF movie review, Five Nights at Freddy's analysis, Five Nights at Freddy's theory, or FNAF moist meter. Do you have questions like is the FNAF movie good? is the FNAF movie bad? is the five nights at freddy's movie bad? or should I watch five nights at freddys? Lore? This video is for you. I watched the FNAF movie and this is my fnaf movie review. this could be the real five nights at freddys
To be fair though, William IS a goofy villain in the books. He’s a narcissist that attributes all his mistakes to hidden genius, so I totally get the angle they were going for with his cartoon supervillain vibe, but I still think a few more scenes before his grand reveal would’ve grounded his character in a genuinely frightening way, even if it was just him stalking in the background at some points.
Love the review!
Yeah no amount of research could have really prepped me for this haha. That makes a lot of sense, but I still think it would have been really impactful for the viewers who didn't know the franchise to see something of his origin story in the movie, but hopefully they're saving that for sequels 🤞🤞 Thanks so much!!!
@@brainless_mastermindplease don't go down that rabbit hole😅
Exotic Butters is a joke from Sister Location. After surviving every night, the Fazbear Company gives the employee you play as a bonus. After all that danger, instead of hazard pay, the employee gets a randomly selected gift basket: Exotic Butters.
Yeah the whole "Will was motivated by his kids' death" thing is just a headcanon. With how he is in the books and now the movie, it's clear he doesn't really care for his kids, and is very willing to off them if they cross him. He's also always been a narc with a superiority complex who's a complete coward when the odds aren't in his favor.
Nono, the line "I will put you back together" is heavily implied to be said by William and the timing and motivation of him going off and killing kids to collect life metal or whatever lines up with that pretty well.
@@PoisonFlower765 He also says for Michael to do that with Elizabeth. And guess what happened with both children? Nothing, they remained dead and suffering. It's an empty promise. It wouldn't make sense for him to do EVERYTHING he did, just for his son to not even be "put back together" or form to not even actually try to. Also, other canonical versions of William start killing without any of their kids dying beforehand, it's clear what type of person Scott wants William to be. Like listen to the mf talk, does he SOUND like a caring father to you?
@@FunnyMichael69dyourmum I mean, both Michael and Elizabeth live through animatronics (Golden Freddy and Baby), so he does succeed _technically._ And then he goes crazy and becomes immortal. And I'm not saying that he's a caring father (or at least not anymore, which is when we hear the most of his dialogue).
@@PoisonFlower765 Yeah but they don't end up living because of his remnant experiments(which you say he started doing because of the boy's death), they just possessed the things they died in. And him becoming a careless father after the death of his kid? What kind of logic is that? Why didn't he do everything in his power to stop Michael's bullying or Elizabeth going up to Circus Baby?
I saw a great theory about how Vanessa is actually supposed to be like Michael Afton and the blonde ghost child is her little brother and like Evan or the crying child. So when Vanessa is freaking out about the spring trap in the shop, or Abby being around the animatronics it's because she's the reason her brother died and kind of caused her dad to become insane (i.e. the plot of the original story). But then it also is implied when William says that Vanessa needs to help clean up the mess that she created, which is kind of a weird thing to say...
The full video is on the Goombanna youtube channel, it's a long video but the theory is towards the end (the theory section of the video starts at 30 minutes in)
THAT'S TRUEE William did say that and I was confused by it, but that would explain it... Wow, I really like that theory, gender bending is cool. Thanks for the comment!
@@brainless_mastermind yeah she goes a bit more in depth in the video but i feel like considering that Matthew lillard signed on for three movies, meaning they probably are planning three movies, i think it would make sense if they are setting up a bunch of stuff that isn’t getting answered right away…but as someone who has never played one of the games and mostly watched CZcams videos about the lore of the games it sounds like it was a bit of a mess and no one had super clear answers and the movie seems to be tidying things up a little even if it doesn’t match up totally
I enjoyed the movie as someone who was more of an occasional watcher of lets play FNAF than some hardcore fan. I see where you went with this and I see it as good. The good news is that as long as it is followed up on Scott has stated that all of the most common feedback will be taken into account for the sequels. I thought it was a fine display of an adaptation incorporating the source material into a parallel narrative while also taking risks.
Yeah, the differences from the source material probably made it an interesting watch for fans as well who already knew the story, cause they might not know what to expect. I'd be interested to see where else the sequels go. Thanks so much!!
I watched this movie but I wasn't bored, I was hyped because the scenes in the movies are based on game including bite of 87, springlock failure and the line "I Always Come Back!"
Yeah the springlock failure was the coolest thing for me, that's such a creative way to write a character death, purple guy's whole story goes HARD in the games lol
Honestly, I get people who didn't like Matthew Lillard's casting, BUT I FUCKING LOVE HIM IMAGINE STU FUCKING MACHER AND SHAGGY ROGERS BEING WILLIAM AFTON OMFG
I saw one guy on some website raving about how Lillard's going back to his roots of unmasking people in monster costumes, but this time HE'S the one in the costume lol. There's things to appreciate about it 🤣
@@brainless_mastermind Yeah lol- plus he's a ghostface so thats fun that william afton is the first ghostface
He is a top-class actor, and I definitely think, if he had been given more to work with, his casting would have been solid!
Nice video! I agree that most of the characters in the movie feel pretty one-dimensional, like they were made for children. However, there is a lot of stuff left up in the air to be elaborated on in a potential sequel. I can't imagine that a character like the aunt would have any more substance, but I'm almost completely certain that a sequel would probably elaborate on William's backstory and motivations, explaining why some of his actions feel cartoony or without reason. This of course doesn't add merit to this movie as it stands on its own, but it might be worth a rewatch if a sequel is released. This is all wishful thinking, but I'd love for the character of William/Springtrap to be developed further since he is so iconic in the games.
Agreed!! A sequel would be a perfect way to elaborate on Williams backstory. Hopefully they can figure out a way to do it that adds a lot of depth to his character. Thank you so much!!
The first movie is about the first game, its a bit difficult to make a movie about a game, which is in the timeline way back and after the development of William Afton. At this time he is just an cold blooded killer which craves for blood, no matter from whom. I really hope they do a second movie about the second game which will bring more clarity and more character development for Afton and Garret.
Great movie review though!
Yeah and a second movie would hopefully put more of the nuance into springtrap, I'd be interested to see where they go next
I actually really enjoyed the movie. It has its quirks and is by no means a masterpiece, but I feel like it was really and truly made for the fans, yes, including the children. It's kind of like the Sonic movie in a way - I feel that there was someone in the studio who actually cared about the experience people would have. I love that they used practical effects, I love that because they needed the animatronics to walk, they essentially re-created the (not)springlock robot and suit all in one thing. I liked Abby and Mike's relationship, though I agree that they could have had a little more positive interaction at the beginning. And that Afton should have gotten more screentime - what we got was honestly delightful, but there needed to be more.
i was the same way goin into the movie. since i watched it i’ve been immersin myself into all the lore n def wana rewatch to pick up on the littler things!!!
Yeah it was like surprisingly fun to hear the original story, I might be paying closer attention to the games after this 👀
Its interesting how you describe William Afton as a tragic character in the game lore, because that is not the case as far as I know. Sure his kids get killed by his own inventions, but we never really get a perspective in how he feels about that, we barely get any actual characterization of him in the games, as most of his appearances are either as an almost not talking animatronic or a pixel sprite. The only times I recall we actually hear him are at the beginning of SL or when he talks during 6. I feel like you mightve tried to brush up on the game lore and came across a very headcanonned telling of Afton's story.
Definitely subbing! It’s nice hearing everyone’s opinions on the movie. Great video
Thank you so much!!!
i actually enjoyed this movie as someone who doesnt really care about fnaf. I hate horror movies because i am extremely easy to be scared from basic-ass jumps cares and unoriginal disturbing imagery, so this movie clearly was made for people like me lmao. It wasnt scary at all and the gore was very mild, and i got to learn a bit about fnaf. So, 7/10 movie for me.
Okay, so William being nuanced and interesting is like... One of the several possible interpretations of the lore. Him being a mad scientist and abusive father are equally likely and supported, and honestly, what even is the story of FNAF games? We will never have an answer. The movie might be the closest we get to a coherent retelling of the story.
Good video 📹
I think 🤔 that this movie is this generation's Who Framed Roger Rabbit 🐰
Thank you so much!! That's an interesting take 🤔
the animated movie was fanmade, therefore it's not real. It's delusional to say that it is real, imo.
I appreciate this movie! I realize that the people who made it have never made a movie before, and that makes the fact that it is in the running for best movie of the year (grant that wasn't a high bar), and being the only movie I went to see in theaters, even more amazing! I do think they should have picked a lane and stuck with it though! I enjoy kids horror, a la Caroline or roald dahl, and I obviously also love adult horror, so either would have appealed to me just fine, but the back and forth erked me a bit!
Coraline is great, and roald dahl. Yeah overall my consensus is this movie doesn't deserve as much hate as it gets, but that said it's still just not great. It's probably a good sign that I was able to get some entertainment out of it even though I'm not a die hard fan. That's a good point about the tonal back and forth
@brainless_mastermind I agree the movie is not great, but I think if you look at the trajectory of the FNAF games, the only way to go is up for the movies!
I love your channel so much! Especially your Polar Express video! I used to be terrified of that movie as a kid due to the uncanny valleyness of it, but I appreciate it so much more now as an adult and your video took it to a whole new level! Thank you! 😊
Exotic Butters 👍

Really well made content:) +1 sub
Omigosh 🥺 you're so nice
The exotic butters are...exotic!
That's some pretty unique views on the movie. You have my click, good video!
Aaa thanks so much!! 🙏 Lol
I loved my first watch of the movie but now it’s hard to watch because of the amount of backlash and how the movie feels like a waste yet a huge moment in the franchise because the movie is finally out. Makes me kinda sad. I hope the second movie takes the feedback well and gets the love it deserves.
Good and Great Game adaptations are for example:
Mortal Combat, Cyberpunk, Last of us, Dota, Castlevania, Sonic, Super Mario, Pokemon.
Perfect Movie/Game: Alien Isolation, Detroid become Human, Until Dawn, Vader Immortal VR, Jedi Fallen order and Jedi Survivor.
Arcane/League of Legends 3 Books, all charakters Stories with 20 comics is around 25 books.
Fnaf is here 9 years it has 25 books, 14 games and This year is year of Fnaf.
#In my option Fnaf movie is one of Best Adaptations from Games.
Arcane is an incredible show, game adaptations are definitely picking up steam in recent years, hopefully the trend continues
