It has traits of 20's, 30's, 40's, and 50's animation - but primarily 30's and early 40's.
Easily one of the best looking games to come out in 2017. I'm so stoked for this to finally drop.

This game will be great, I think it would have flopped if it was just boss mode like they originally planned.

John just took a while to add some key things, and goddamn this animation process is super time consuming
Eh, doubt it would've *flopped.* Shadow of the Colossus is loved for a reason, Furi and Titan Souls are good games that were pretty successful.
The platforming is actually the one thing I'm not thrilled about, it's nothing new & there's nothing special about it. This game's charm comes from the art style & boss battles that display character and personality. The platforming is just enemies running at you, looks dull & boring.

This looks like one of those games where you just pack a bong, rip it and enjoy the fever dream. This a high as shit looking game.

You know what I’ve been kinda realizing? People are constantly saying that the game is really hard but I haven’t ever really seen a video of someone not playing horribly. It’s not me being cocky but every time I watch someone play, I’m just constantly thinking to myself “why did they do this instead of this” or “why did they go left and not right” and I’m sure I’m not the only one
Noob Noob It is actually really hard, you have to memorize each pattern for each phase and it mixes it up every once in a while, and there's a lot on the screen to distract you, and if you play co-op it's way harder to focus on your character
filthy casul well I beat the game the other day and it was challenging but nowhere near how people act it is

Nope, I think this game was announced back when the 360 was first shown to the public back in 2005 and remember a good whiskey takes a long time to age well unlike so cheap ones that are just sold to the consumer every 2-3 years xD

Hmm... That's quite a bit more shooting than I would expect in a platformer & the lack of any indicator for boss fights could potentially be frustrating. Lovely art style nonetheless & I'm still looking forward to its release!

Mm. Gameplay does remind me of classics like Gunstar Heroes so hopefully it will be fun!
The problem is, this wasn't meant to be a platformer. It was meant to be a boss rush type of game. Then people complained and the devs put platforming sections in the game. However, the platforming levels look so bare bones that it probably won't be worth the wait.

I can't understand how these players haven't learned to parry the pink things. Regardless, the game looks and functions phenomenally. It is the Disney Dead Souls that we've been looking unconsciously for.

I've been seeing all the pink stuff that flies by on the screen, the dragon's stuff looks difficult, and then there the pink chicks.
No duh it's precise, but they don't even try is the infuriating part to me.

Hopefully there's a 30 fps option. Usually I prefer 60fps but for the art style and old school cartoon homage 30fps fits it better

Important thing to note. You start with 3 hit points not 4. You have to buy a 4th hit point with coins collected in side scrolling levels. To keep the coins you have to finish the level. This is going to create a bottleneck for many players. However I preordered it and am looking forward to playing it on launch.

Dude, that soundtrack is amazing and amazingly accurate for the time period! The art style is also very accurate and beautiful! Gameplay looks really fun and a bit challenging. Hopefully it's not filled with only bosses, and has a lot more platforming levels. So far this game looks astonishing! Too bad it's not for Playstation 4; you can't win them all. I don't have an Xbox One right now... maybe in a couple years after the X is cheaper. I think I will be picking this up for my MacBook Pro, that is if it comes out for macOS. Hopefully the sequel comes out for PS4. Fingers crossed!

Ah, okay. Thanks, dude! Still great! At least they decided to add some more platforming. It's cool that they're focusing more on boss battles, especially nowadays, considering that games don't really have many boss battles anymore like they used to. It reminds me of the PS2 and Gameboy days! Can't wait to get my hands on this game, and since it's only $20, that's a steal! Also, supporting the developers, especially since they're new, is vital!

I hope that Cuphead becomes a franchise, and that other games take inspiration from it. There's no reason why we haven't had many 1930's games before, if at all, and TBH I want more of them.

georgilito It looks generic in some spots, but it's an indie game. The art style is a main selling point for this game (as it compliments the gameplay), but I do see where you're coming from and agree to a certain extent.
