Why I don't understand,even Xavi played a major role in the Spanish world cup winning team he was the orchestrator,it clearly tells how much we value the goals more than the ones creating and running the game.

I think Spanish football fans are the best. Even though they are die hards for their team, they generally are football fans and will applaud players even from bitter rivals.
There are special reasons for this applause, rarely happens elsewhere.

Just this year, in Camp Nou with Betis beating us, huge applause for Joaquin being subbed out. Such a great player. Then a few weeks later, when Aspas was subbed out injured (Barça beating Celta), major applause. Usually it is for a senior player who is class and a classic.
