Israel and US air defenses easily defeated the attack, but now the focus is on Speaker Mike Johnson in America to vote on the Senate military aid package for Israel and Ukraine. The longer MAGA blocks military aid to Israel and Ukraine given the attacks from Iran, the more exposed Donald Trump and Mike Johnson look for protecting Russia.

There are millions of ex-military all across Europe who would instantly answer the call if needed to defend the countries that they live in. Manpower is not the problem, political will is the problem and particularly in the USA at the moment.

TBF israel has put big effort in domestic production and also gotten billions $ every year from US for years to do so. that also means hitech collaboration that israel had access to if not bleeding edge, as close as any ally could in US military tech. afaik they were first ally out of US to try F-35s 15 years ago. last year US aid to israel was 4Bn$ or so if I remember correctly, before that Johnson package stuck.
It still looks lot of US government secretly think Ukraine is gonna fall, like they expected 2022 but then ukrainians with their soviet stockpile managed to repel first week of invasion and west was forced to reconsider their stance.

My father was a German American who came here at age 10 and fought in WWII. He was naturalized right before he went into the army, and had his name legally changed from Hans to John. Iran, like any other sovereign nation, has the right to self-defense according to international law. This right is established both in the UN Charter and in UN Charter Customary International Law. This means that if Iran is subjected to armed aggression by another state, it has the right to defend itself to preserve its sovereignty and protect its citizens.

Yeah, it's ironic what they're saying, I think they are referring to two thoughts here. First is the "tsuchna" thing, which means dirty or backwoods ppl and it has been used as a propaganda word and just an all-around bad word for Finns for a century, or more. It's what the Moscovites think of us. It's ironic when they have been polluting the Baltic Sea from St. Petersburg and Lake Laatokka. I don't know what are the thoughts of current inhabitants in Karelia. Still, after the evacuation of our Karelian relatives during the Winter War, some Finnish former Karelians went back to see how their childhood home was in the 90s and were pretty shocked about the state of Karelia, it was that bad.
The second thing I think they are referencing here is the fact that the Finns and the Poles will resist harder, and the "clean up" will be extermination, as it would be in Ukraine. We live in precarious times with some truly horrible people leading countries or parties. There is a lot of risk management on this front, too. Having to gauge who in Europe is awake and who we can trust. But I believe with absolute certainty we Finns out of everyone have solid reaction plans. It doesn't change the fact that in a crisis situation, we would benefit and practically need the NATO coalition to keep our supply routes open, meaning the Baltic Sea. We would need the NATO coalition working for Ukraine. I'm glad France has realized it is that serious. Basically, Russia uncontained is an existential threat to Ukraine, the Baltics, Finland, and the European Union as we know it.

If I remember correctly the US mediated the guarantees Russia gave Ukraine when they gave up nuclear weapons. The US has a responsibility in Russia breaking these guarantees, NATO or not.

Everybody except Poland and Finland dragged their feet and were so slow to react. The USA has had to come to Europe twice in the last century, losing hundreds of thousands of troops in the process. The "thanks" for our help in WW1 was to be assigned the hardest sector of the German defenses. where none of the European forces could penetrate.
