Hogan calling Russo "a jackoff and a stupid, stupid man" is just about the most honest thing he's ever said.
It's the only true thing he's ever said
@@EsotericRageI agree
That scene with Hogan and Bischoff toasting themselves in the plane thinking they had pulled off a masterpiece was so BIZZARE..
Yeah. Especially when you think of how they hadn't won over WWE in ratings since Oct 1998.
If the Halloween Havoc angle happened, it would have worked for them two okay enough. They probably hoped by that point that Russo would be out of the picture for being insufferable. Oops. It's too bad Bischoff didn't ask Hogan for that extra lawsuit money to buy WCW from WCW.
Cocaine's a hell of a drug.
russo convincing so many people he wasn't a moron has gotta be his most successful trait
One of his streams the other day he was saying: "I know my audience bro. I'm not targeting the Smarks and the dirtsheets bro, I'm here for the Casual fans who wanna learn a bit more about people who were in the business, bro"
Legitimately he said that. I will give him credit though, he did get talent over. He keeled two companies over, but he helped create characters.
I have met like half a dozen fans. Fucking FANS. People who have watched this shit their whole life… who think Russo is a legitimate talent
@@richardsmith9615 Hogan and Eric bischoff killed wcw the only reason wcw hired Russo was because wcw was already bad and that is BECAUSE ERIC AND HOGAN WERE RUNNING THE SHOW they drove it to the ground so wcw hired Russo and he made it more worse but it was already bad
@@user-qr9dn5ge1qno TNT did not want wrestling on its tv that is why wcw died only biggest reason
The greatest trick Vince Russo ever pulled was convincing the world he was smart.
The problem I had with the New Blood story line is they had it backwards: the young, hungry, ready to win guys were made into the heels, and the established holding you down stars were the babyfaces.
Yup...that's where they goofed it.
That and making Billy Kidman and Jeff Jarrett the faces of the stable.
It wasn't a goof on their part. The MC ended up being the faces because the fans didn't want to boo them. They loved those guys too much to boo guys they loved and cheer for guys that they didn't even really know like that. Russo managed to get it right with the Main Event Mafia thing because the viewers had that connection with AJ Styles and the other young guys.
@@Maggot-ml3vzI mean nothing wrong with Jarrett or Kidman.

I would pay huge bucks for a table for 4 with Russo, Cornette, Bischoff and Meltzer. No filters, no censorship, it might be a piece of art or the greatest clusterfuck in history, but either way it would be legendary
Add Heyman and Vince McMahon that would be a legendary table for 6!!!
It would turn to blows. Bischoff would probably win lol.
Oh Vinny Mac would win out of the 6.
Corny would just kill Russo. Idk about Dave, but I feel like Eric would gladly help and they'd find common ground
Nah. Forbidden Door III where it's a round table between those 4 guys. Winner gets to book 1 month of AEW, and its fan voted online and the fans at the event.
You know it'll be good when Jim starts off by saying, "I will use his name that he was given by his poor unsuspecting parents through this program because if you just threw around the nickname 'shitstain,' it would be so confusing as to who to apply it to in this episode."
You know it's going to be good when the video goes for over an hour😂
I was on the floor laughing so hard.
Yo I laughed my ass off while the video was playing this quote at the same time I was reading this! Fucking gold! 🤣💀
Yea people would think he's talking about himself.
Well...
Shitstain = Vince Russo
Uncle Dave = Dave Meltzer
Fuckin' Bischoff = Eric Bischoff
Man we’ve been getting some gems lately from Jim. I’d like to thank dark side, Colin Thomson, Dave Meltzer, AEW and Vince Russo for all the great content we’ve gotten bc of them.

That would be great

There used to be a guy one CZcams who compiled all the Jim's rants into one long Russo Saga that chronicled all of Jim's grievances. But Jim had the channel copyright claimed. I think it was short sighted because I didn't even know he had a podcast till I saw those clips.

LMAO! Me too!
Cornette's observation of Russo having "buggy whip arms" always cracks me up.
Brian was right - it was New Blood - but Jim didn't even bring up the dumbest part about the whole thing, which was that the young guys were the heels

@@kingslayer2999 He did it again in the beginning of TNA with SEX vs TNA, with him as the head of SEX, because Russo is 14 years old mentally.

LOL, I love Corny at 25:21 correcting Brian's use of "The New Blood," telling him it was "The Young Blood." Uh, no, Jim, it WAS The New Blood.
I think Jim's confusion comes from Russo calling them "The Young Blood" on DSOTR. Russo couldn't even remember the right name for one side of his biggest WCW angle.
Hogan wore a shirt saying F.U.N.B.

A lot of episodes of DSOTR have made me sad. This was the one episode that made me legitimately angry. These fools (Bischoff, Russo and Hogan) destroyed a company, cost so many people their jobs and hurt the entire wrestling industry all because of their selfishness, ego, greed and incompetence. And to think the same mistakes are starting to show up in AEW with a mark boss and his selfish VP’s. No one has seemingly learned from what happened.

What was more amazing...
How they edited out Vince Russo's "BRO'S!" He still got a few in there but they managed to slide in some sentences without.... MAGIC!
The entire episode all I could think about was Jim's reaction but 62 minutes!
Jarrett came off the best. I think Bischoff was the most villainous. Russo may be obnoxious to listen to, but they portrayed him as earnest in his assessment of the events whereas Bischoff was portrayed as essentially putting the priorities of Hulk over the company.

That's pretty sad for your life
@@coldnightmare199ikr these marks love embarrassing themselves.
The worst part about Russo's booking in WCW is that he didn't realize, by having the commentators say things like "we didn't go over that in production meetings" or "that wasn't on the format sheet", it makes it look more scripted and preplanned, showing it's not a shoot, and it was supposed to happen that way.😂
He just told you his booking method was crash TV, the Jerry Springer approach. So it doesn't surprise me one bit. But I will say if it wasn't for him, I don't Think Booker T would have ever been looked at as a main event guy because let's face it as long as Hogan was in that company. He was going to be world champion for as long as he was in that company off and on what I found profoundly about this whole entire story is that if Hogan really wanted to make somebody he could have made either Jeff Jarrett or Booker T.
Why did the ratings rise if it was so bad?
All this did was show that Vince Russo and WCW where nothing after they disrespected a big name like hulk hogan.. WCW went under shortly after.
@@eugenen1585 The ratings dropped over the quarter didn't they say? They may have risen for a couple of weeks, I know I personally tuned in to WCW still to see where it was going, and when I saw, I stopped watching. The moment in the episode when Russo says "You couldn't have put 2 of the most opposite people together" (himself and Bischoff) and my immediate thought was "You absolutely could... Vince Russo and Jim Cornette"

As someone who wasn’t experiencing the shit in real time, this doc seemed to me like hogan was a paranoid diva, but his paranoia was justified considering russo’s track record. It was honestly entertaining seeing every side just steeped in narcissism trying to justify themselves
He was right about putting the belt on Booker T.
As it was happening, Sunny Ono filed a lawsuit and seemingly overnight, Stevie Ray was a commentator and Booker T was about to become Champion. It didn’t have nearly as much to do with Russo as Russo claims. Jarrett was Russo’s guy. And Jarrett had no business having the belt in the first place. Hogan did pull his trump card, but he lied for years about it being the first time he did it (Hogan is the biggest liar. In WWF/E, Storm was a janitor, then Boring Lance Storm.
Yet, who does the simpleton speak out against? The guy who had him hold three championships at once, and main event shows? Or the guy who buried him?
The review we’ve all been waiting for 😂
Match of the night was absolutely the ring crew trying and failing to put down that wedding cake
Bischoff carrying water for Hogan this whole episode turned my stomach
If Ed was part of this episode, he wouldn't be able to talk bc Russo's pack would be in his mouth the entire time.
Brians belly laugh at the headphones pitch 🤣🤣🤣
I always skip thru commercials but somehow he makes me want to even listen to them
Russo learned what “That Doesn’t Work For Me, Brother” was all about. Lol
The only positive thing that came out of this bewildering episode (Other than Jeff Jarrett) was Booker T winning the World Championship at the end of Bash Of The Beach.
Yeah I tend to agree with you because look at it from that standpoint and even Booker T admit it. He probably would have never gotten a break in the main event if it wasn't for this moment. And I'm not the biggest Booker T fan, but he wouldn't have had a Hall of Fame solo career if it wasn't for his late WCW world title runs.
@@flyguy7825. WCW should have immediately gone with Scott Steiner. He was there only hope along with Goldberg.
Russo learned what some meaningless quote spouted by internet marks twenty years after this event meant?
@@flyguy7825idk about that. I think Booker T was going to be a HOF regardless. Even if just for his work with brother Stevie Ray in Harlem Heat.
And Hogan was a huge part of Harlem Heat getting the recognition they deserved
@@travismcdonald6576 OK and Booker T. as well
Its weird to me that Russo doesnt understand basics that any wrestle fan would understand
Hes not a wrestling fan, he's a WWE mark/fan.
@@Chaz4543 he wasn't even a WWE fan. He just caught the occasional segment in the 80's when something took place outside of the ring.
Vince Russo has probably the best timing of anybody in pro wrestling history. The peak of his career as a head writer was based on the dumb luck of stumbling upon TWO different once in a lifetime talents in a promotion simultaneously along with a healthy crop of other guys who could justifiably be in a main event spot. His position was almost fail-proof.
I'm a huge Russo fan, but this is a great analogy
@@Sean1977C how the f**k did that happen?
@@PontFlair Just life, bro and different takes on things lol best way I can explain it.
This is a dumb take. He didn't inherit two once in a lifetime talents. Stone Cold Steve Austin was the Ringmaster and The Rock was Rocky Maivia and was being hated and booed out of the building. Vince Russo wrote the shows and the storylines for every character. Stone Cold contributed nothing creatively. If he didn't like something and then was asked what he wanted to do, he would say he didn't know and to figure it out, which Stone Cold admitted this himself.
@@terranceburrs5832 true. Someone still had to write for them lol
Jim going off and pitching Raycon earbuds at the end had me dying 😂
This is a very minor point, but I did watch WCW during this time, and they were called the New Blood. They had shirts and everything.
Love the artwork. Jim looks like he’s been drawn by Jack Kirby
I purposefully scanned through the comments to see if someone else noticed the Kirby inspired work. Heckel never disappoints 👏
as a teenager who grew up during the late 90s boom...you would flip back and forth between USA and TNT...and whatever held your attention is where you stayed...this was THE catalyst (the whole program - any time Russo was on TV) that got the channel turned to USA and you had no intention of flipping back to see what they were doing on TNT...
Terrific analysis of the train wreck that was Russo era WCW. Made Corny and the rest of us feel better laughing about it in retrospect. Thanks bro.
Jim acknowledging Kirby and Ditko getting ripped off .
I’ve been waiting for this review since I watched the episode. Needless to say, it didn’t disappoint. Always love a Jim Cornette rant.
I love when Corney refers to Russo as "sh*tstain". Cracks me up every time.
We really need a fatal 4-way match with Cornette, Russo, Meltzer, and Bischoff. Guns will be pulled in that match haha.
.... Lazy booking
Give Russo blanks.
