Welcome back , Emily from the UK, for those who don't know she was one of the first members of the channel and the first UK woman , even before Lauren , Emily's first video was even with Christina , that's right ✅ 😄
Oh yeah I remember she's the girl which compared accent and reacting british vs american memes with christina back then. Those are the videos that make me suscribed this channel
Here in India we learnt British english but everyone find it hard to understand British accent. Everyone here saw Sherlock Holmes with the subtitles on. American accent feels so natural easy to understand, that usually don't eat up the letters from a word. British accent seems like stylized english even though they came up with the language. Australian accent seems British accent of British accent and introduce some weird noises in between characters of certain words.
In terms of reading and writing, yes it is British English. But in terms of listening and speaking, we're more used to Indian English which is basically English with Indian language accents and pronunciations.
I am North Indian, and I live in Canada. Here, people use American accent, and I agree, it’s WAY easier than British accent. My parents however have a hard time with both accents.
That's interesting because at work we will have phone meetings with different nationalities. Sometimes my Indian co-workers will ask me (an American) "What did X (someone from a non-English speaking country) just say?"
@@jamieholtsclaw2305 Yeah most (english speaking) Indians are used to the american accent. It also has to do with the american substance that we consume. Hollywood popularity just keeps on growing everyday in India and american accents are the ones we are accustomed to listening to. I remember I used to watch so many american movies and tv shows without subtitles (forgot to turn them on cause I didn't even need them to understand) but as soon as I started watching "The King's Speech" or even the Bond movies, I needed the subtitles to understand fully what they were saying.
Long time no see Emily! I remember the videos she did with Christina! Great to see her again and sorry about her fall. It's great to have 2 Brits from 2 different regions to compare their accents.
as a brit for me, it depends really what the joke is, if it's the bottle of water one then yeah I hate that joke because it's just so typical but most other jokes are not offense to me, 🇬🇧❤️
Oooh wow Emily is back 😃😍 Welcome back Emily ❤️ I really like her British accent . I remember she is a Posh-brit right? We can clearly see that in her attitude and overall vibe she gives off . Her voice and accent is so elegant ❤️
In Russia, school programs are based on British English (incl. pronunciation). So, after years of studying it was funny talking phrase "I CAN'T" with russian-british accent to some american friends.))))
If Lauren had dark brown curly hair, she would remind me so much of Lorde. Her personality/mannerisms are really similar - at least to me coming from an American.
Ohhh, you guys don’t know how much I’ve waited for Emily to be back! I have watched her videos with Christina hundreds of times and was waiting for her to post a new video. I’m sorry for your fall, Emily.Hope you will get well soon and that it doesn’t hurt too bad!!!
Spelt. Is British but American does recognize it as a word but recognizes it as the second way to spell it. Some Americans do use it but spelled is more common as most Americans and have been taught that the past tense of spell is spelled but spelt.
@@hearingninja One is more common so people assume we all say the same thing and it gets categorized as American English. Like sneak. I have always said the past tense as sneaked. That’s what people I grew up around said. I didn’t know until I began an adult this is “British English” although I have heard some Americans say snuck. But you are right about dreamed and dreamt. I’ve heard both.
In we are basing assumptions subtitles, it could be a Brit since Massachusetts was spelled incorrectly in the last video. That is where all that British tea ☕️ was dumped in the harbor. 😂 😂 Whether an American would say I just or I’ve just would depends on the rest of the sentence. I just saw her. I’ve just seen her.
It's an interesting thing that people in conversation are often itching for approval from the person they're speaking to. We'd substitute "...right?" or "...eh?" for "...innit?" where I'm from. In any event, it's unfortunate when people attempt to mock other people's figures of speech, really the whole video was a positively smashing display of logic in regard to pointing that out, and I dare say it's a lesson that I shall endeavor to uphold in any future parleys I might have with citizens of the British empire forthwith, notwithstanding the buggers who would seek to besmirch my honest attempts at repentance. Tally ho!
"Aloe love" made me laugh. My great grandmother was called Vera and owned a pub with my great grandad in South London. All the regulars would come in and say "aloe vera" and start cracking up.
The British passed on these pronunciations to their colonies as well. As an Indian kid, I have genuinely written "choose day" instead of "Tuesday" when taking down a note for my dad. I simply thought that he wanted to decide when he wanted that task done 😂
American English more properly enunciates what is actually written in writing. I have noticed many people, particularly throughout the EU, have a difficult time understanding Brits in conversation due to the lack of pronouncing certain letters in various words.
@@MightyFineMan Agreed. And it also goes the other way around, i.e if a word is pronounced differently, the spelling will change to account for it. For example, 'Initialize' is written with a 'z', because that's how it is pronounced. Similarly 'color' doesn't use the 'u'. Whatever effect the letter 'u' had on the pronunciation, it doesn't exist anymore.
I still want a video where Lauren pronounces the alphabet in her own way, with three other English speakers from different countries, Christina as one other, would be nice to hear the difference
If you're gonna do more videos with Emily, I really think you should make Emily interact with people from other countries in the world (outside the UK and US) because I think the only two people she's interacted with in this show (at least on screen) is Christina and now Lauren. Good to see her back though (and I hope she recovers from her fall) as she was one of the first participants in this channel - I know some people consider Emily to be rude & stuck up but I think that's just her sense of humour.

@@xIllMadeKnightx Do you mean a “city” in the UK other than London? Maybe it’s a difference in language patterns, but I don’t understand if your point is about a city or a country/region. Either was you sound like you have a lack of awareness because a lot of Americans are of Scottish descent and LICHERALLY hold Highland games events all over the country while somehow allegedly never having never heard of Scotland.
