The game is an adventure video game played from a first-person perspective. In the game, the player assumes control of astrobiologist Yasna, who must explore the planet Regis III for her missing crewmates while facing an unknown threat. Yasna has access to several tools, such as a scanner and a handheld telescope that can be used to identify objects and aid her survival in the alien landscape.[2] The developer described the game as a "branching narrative with an emphasis on player choice".[3] Other characters include astrogator Novik, who guides Yasna throughout her journey on Regis III.[2]

It’s so cool they stuck to the game they wanted to make instead of slapping on a bunch of not-so-great combat. This looks completely up my alley. All those Gamers going ‘boring, what a stupid game’ in comments… not the game for you obv… go play CoD again. 😂 Finally, somebody made a no-compromises beautiful weird mysterious and interesting story-based retro-sci-fi game. I’m thrilled.
im loving it so far about 4 hours into it
Agreed
Still boring af
I agree . But how difficult it is to have both a great story and good combat. For a FPS the only thing that comes to my mind is STALKER
@@pabloide3792 when u get to that level of combat it becomes a different genre of game , this isn't that and it doesn't strive to be. Think more Detroit: Become Human and less Bioshock. This type of game let's the dialogue and scenery tell the story and not the Action / Scenery to tell the story. Get what you're saying but also understand where the developer was going when making this game.
I have to say I wish Starfield looked a bit more like this game. Super cool visual style.
It depends on type of sci fi setting you prefer. I love the art style of Starfield. The Ground NASA punk art sytle hits hard but this more fantastical yet 80's sci-fi setting is extremely good too. So can't really pick either or.
@@pixelcount350true true agreed
Indeed, the planet surface/ rock formations looks way better in this game. More variation, more believable.
@@pixelcount350 "NASA Punk" completely explains what I now like from my Space games! Something that looks grounded/modern sci-fi with NASA-like tech.
@@aryabratsahoo7474 It's fairly distinct and it's what i love about Starfield so much. You can't really find it anywhere else.
After titles like Hellblade, Plague Tale, Stray, Alan Wake, I really got a vibe for these narrative games, despite having been more of a AAA action adventure RPG type, I feel like this is my new favorite niche. It may not be as easy to find these titles though, as AAA you can't miss. Any tips are welcome.
Maybe try Remember Me. It's got some decent narrative chops, and actually has gameplay. Disco Elysium would be jumping into the deep end as it's CRPG without combat. You just talk to people and talk to yourself, for about a million words worth.
I'd definitely give Firewatch a go if you really like narrative games that break away from the norm, it's definitely a game I've played that's made me rethink the type of games I play.
Journey, What Remains of Edith Finch, SOMA, Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Stanley Parable, Gone Home, Death Stranding (Original one), Beginner's Guide, Visage, Layers of Fear (2023), Oxenfree (I and II), Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain, Kentucky Road Zero, Observer, Amnesia: Rebirth, To the Moon, Abzu, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Road 96, Outer Wilds, Forgotten City, Painscreek Killings
Outer Wilds is required.
I was abt to comment firewatch...but someone else beat me too it!
Please thumbs up, comment, subscribe it helps the channel.
The Invincible is a thought-provoking Sci-fi choose your own adventure-lite title. A walking simulator that takes a ponderous amount of time to get going compared to its runtime.
But still. Yeah, it's weirdly fascinating but only the high in patience very low result expected gamers need apply.

this looks like a game that's more fun to watch then actually play, as well at least it looks more compelling then any of the dreck The Chinese Room ever put out.
Definitely buy
Yep! Just up my alley!!
Favorite all-time game: SOMA
I love this style, like Conarium, Moons of Madness, etc...
I'm so done with slow games its not even fair when you got only 2-3 hours free time a day and you hear "Alan wake 2 masterpiece"
can't expect every single game to cater just to you and nobody else, plenty of people who aren't addicts enjoy Alan Wake 2 nazi troll, the review system we have now is fine and there's nothing at all wrong with getting into fictional worlds, not all of us just want mindless games with no real stakes. @@SpadeApeiron
I'm interested in this game solely for the fact that it's based on a book by Stanislaw Lem, author of Solaris. Helps that it's pretty as well and seems like a great fit for the Steam Deck.
This game runs great on Steam Deck and will be Steam Deck Verified on release.
The Invincible haunted my dreams as a child. The thought of little metal flies still gives me chills. So excited they made a game that seems to understand Lem's world building.
Yeah, this is my kind of game. Since I first saw the trailer, I had it wish listed. Your review just makes me so impatient for the 6th now lol. I'm a fan of the game style, the art aesthetic and Stanislaw Lem too.
Game is based on Stanisław Lem book from 1964 with the same title! At that time it was futuristic book and I find it impressive for him to create such world/setting while living under harsh communist rule. I strongly recommend this author to anyone feeling interested.
I mean, to be fair, this is what movies based on his books tend to be like, too. Very slow, deliberate, pondering.
Man, your reviews are so good. Actually tells me what the game is about and provides a real recommendation.
Without spoiling any moments!
Had this on my wishlist for a while,. going to enjoy this one! Thanks for a great review, as always
Thanks, Karak, I've been looking forward to this review! I played the demo of the game at Steam Next Fest and really enjoyed its slowburn approach to narrative and atmosphere, which can at times be very menacing. I will definitely be getting this, but maybe I will wait for a sale, because of my limited money (and time) right now.
Insane review, loved how detailed your reviews are.
Dude! This is right up my alley. Back in the day, I really loved this niche title called Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock. It was a space walking sim in which you had crash landed on a planet and you had to search the planet to find materials to repair your ship. The atmosphere was amazing for such a small game and this game reminds me of it (but on a bigger scale).
Morningstar was incredible! Yea I can't wait for this game, been meaning to read the book it's based on but haven't had the time.
@@mdog86 I recommend reading after playing the game, as the book kinda "spoils' some of the story in the game.
@@MKwadratPodcast Good to know, thanks! Yea I was thinking that might actually be the best way to go about it
@@MKwadratPodcastyeah, that’s what I expected, so I have the book on order and finished my first playthrough
Solid review as always! Thanks, Karak! God bless and stay safe!
Thanks for the breakdown on this; I enjoyed the demo from a few months ago on Steam but was curious if it could carry the same interest for the whole game.
It does
It absolutely does, in fact it only gets better and better the more you play it.
I always love this retro sci-fi aesthetic. I've been craving it in a game like this since I played Titan Station last year. Played the demo of this when it came out and definitely found the story interesting. Gonna pick this one up for sure.
It is a very unique title for sure. For a very specific person
I really liked when Prey 2017 had that look.
@@ACGreviews I am glad that I am that specific type of person.
Atompunk in case you wanna search that vibe. :) If you like it, lobby with them to make a similar one for Solaris. If this is cool, that would be brain melting, the story is even grander.
Sweet might get this on a slow rainy day n jus relax 😊
I was feeling it and your description but.....
that last 30 seconds was brutal. Maybe this review gave me enough of it to be satisfied. Thx
Damn, I remember seeing the announcement trailer for this game a long time ago, then complete radio silence 😅
Glad to see it actually got released and didn't turn into vaporware.
I like when you introduce me to games I’m not familiar with. Like your monthly video on games releasing, maybe another just focused on AA and indie. Either way thanks for the video as always.
Reviews are so important for awareness, I missed this one, but I would definitely play this.
I wouldn't usually have this as my kind of game, but it looks so damned nice, and I love the art style, so I'm definitely going to check this one out.
Genuinely, great review. Very concise
When you said it resembles fire watch I knew it wasn’t for me. Thanks for the video!
yeah, i'll keep it in my wishlist. Looks like something I'll love
Loved Firewatch, love sci-fi and i'm pretty sure i'll love this. Great review.
Ooh I just read the book a few months back. I wasn't a huge fan but I'm interested to see how they adapted it into this medium.
Been waiting ages for this! Great review. Wonder how it will compare to Deliver us the Moon/Mars?
I think there are indeed a number of parallels but its a different overall feel
Awesome review i may consider this game and i want to read the book now.
Great video, thanks!
I like the way the tent capsule doors are parted. Also day 2 of NNN.
I think I'll love this, I read the novel by Stanislaw Lem and I appreciate the slow pace with this title based on what I've seen.
The Amazing Eternals is a cancelled game by Digital Extremes and it has the same exact sci-fi aesthetic as this game.
crazy right
both went for this 1950s scifi future that is actually really rare in video games
I immediately thought Firewatch and then you said it! I’m excited
Thanks for the fair warnings. Still gonna give it a shot, I really digged the demo's atmosphere & style. If that's similar in the rest of the game, I don't mind the slow pace (I found Alan Wake 2's stupid back-tracking far worse). If you're more into brain teasers, give Talos Principle 2 a try.
Thanks for reviewing this, would have had no idea about this game even existing. I'll probably have a go when it hits deep sales.
Slow burning, firewatch style game, but in space with an amazing aesthetic and a good story? Yeah, I'm sold
Once again the best reviews with no BS great job!
Bought and put 6 hours into this game last night, he describes it very well in the video, however I think he’s kind of harsh on it. The story and atmosphere is phenomenal in my opinion, the game is beautiful and there is always some sort of ambient music or sound to keep your mind occupied as you try to figure out significant plot points. You can make decisions that affect the overall scheme of the story like whether to sacrifice a crew member and keep an oxygen tank for yourself or leave him one and allow your astrogator to pick him up risking that you might not find another. The story that you build is laid out in comic strips that you can view from the start menu so you can refresh on the plot points in case you have to step away from the game as well and it’s very artistic I think. The game is very slow paced and relies heavily on building tension and suspense while slowly revealing major clues to what’s going on through the things you find on your travels, the gameplay is slow and it can very much seem like a walking simulator however I don’t believe the world is barren enough to consider it as such. In dayz you can walk for hours and find nothing to do, in this game you walk for a few minutes to the next destination and the whole while you’re having plot heavy conversations with the astrogator or just conversations that reveal pieces of the characters history/personality. It’s definitely not the best sci-fi game that’s come out in the last decade but it’s definitely worth a go around, you also get a bit of a discount down to $26 if you’ve already purchased frostpunk.
Amazing review as always, thank you.
This is certainly up my alley. I've just finished Scorn, which i thoroughly enjoyed, and this should scratch that meditative itch I often get.
I scratched mine with stray. That game is like a daily meditation session
@thanos879 I used to relax with Stray, but my wife discovered it. It's not on my ssd, and she hasn't returned the disc.
@@chalk-one Lol
As one of the last remaining souls that dreams of chromed out streamline designs and dry Cold War storylines when sci-fi is mentioned, this is one of those niche games that I need no expectation limitation warnings about.
Many thanks. Can't I ask how long the game was in terms of completion and is there any re play ability? Big thanks 👍🇦🇺💫
Sunshine is a great movie. Deliver Us the Moon was on the same wavelength. The review describes this game very well.
Looks gorgeous, and I'm a huge fan of the entire look and premise... BUT... I really didn't enjoy the walking around in Firewatch.
So, maybe one for a deep discount.
Thanks for the video review! 👏🫶👍
Reminiscent of Fire Watch which I enjoyed and this is even more my kind of game. Definitely on my Xmas list!😊
This game reminds me of Corpse of Discovery! Loved that game!
The fogging on the helmet is your stamina gauge if it starts fogging when running , it will slowly fill up the helmet as u get more exhausted. if u literally stop pressing forward for a second it will go and reset it...
Binged this game, unique, engaging, fun, suspenseful, reminds me a bit of Myst in how it felt to play. Really uniquely fun.
Been waiting for this for a while! Great review ❤
I think this might be just up my alley (though I'm not a super fan of the whole retro-space..thing), the Firewatch comparison, the style.
Don't mind a slow pace IF it delivers a good story/plot. But my backlog insist that its not a title I *have* to get *right* now.
Really enjoyed Firewatch and I'm digging this retro scifi look. Going to check this one out when I get a chance.
I loved Frewatch too, and been keeping an eye on this one for a bit. Please let me know how you like it once you try it out.
@@esperantooslo Was really close to buying it last night but im going to wait until pay day. Will keep you posted on if iI enjoy it this weekend.
Thanks, i'm also waiting for money to come in to make the desission.@@Mayorofsexytown1303
Always really appreciate your videos, hope you and the family are well. Cheers!
Thank you!
This game is based on a book by Stanislaw Lem. The books is a short read and I really enjoyed it. I will have to check out this game for sure.
Wow! Looks amazing.
Sweet i was wondering when this was gonna come out
right up my alley, nice!
read Stanislaw Lem's books! he was a scifi genius, hope they get the story with the game
I played this game stoned - it was fantastic.
I looooved Firewatch. That already sold me
Just looking at this game world brings joy.
I loved it. I'm a big fan of retro sci-fi so its just my thing. The landscapes are beautiful and the story is engaging. Yes its a slow burn and a walk-em-up but it held my interest and I finished it the day after I bought it so yeh I couldnt put it down. I'm on pc so idk it may be annoying to play on console with the way you need to click stuff.
1:05 absolutely savage😂😂😂
I was interested to see how this reviewed. I like walking sims mostly but with too many games and not diving into Starfield yet, this will be nice to check out sometime next year. Hopefully it's on Game Pass or something.
Hope you enjoy
Agreed. This is one I'll check out on game pass or ps+
Curb your expectations on Starfield.. hope you enjoy but damn that one hurt me
@@gregoryjames3287, it just felt so..bland, especially just after playing BG3 for 2 whole months (got EA beginning of July to get my feet wet)
Tried Starfield a bit after launch, I played one night and never touched it again - went back to Bg3, then Dos2
(The voices only were better for characters' feeling alive and interesting than Starfield fully animated ones...)
Starfield is damn good.@@ChristmasLore i'm kinda eh on BG as fantasy settings just aren't really my thing personally, i'm much more of a sci-fi guy.
"I've seen entire nations crumble faster than this game."...lol, great line 😂
This game is great. Awesome story and atmosphere. It may be a walking sim. But it's the best walking sim iv played. And has some Stella visuals 😍
Whenever I see games like this I feel bad for the people whom are semi-disconnected from the internet and just buy things based on the cover at the store. You know someone out there got burned on this game 😂 Awesome review it looks intriguing, definitely need to be in the right mindset for something like this
This is a cerebral, mysterious and haunting game which I think perfectly captures the atmosphere the author is known for. I’d recommend anyone interested to consider it more an elevated interactive novel more than a game as such - that might help a newcomer have the right expectation going in.
Been looking forwards to this for ages! Will probably wait a little for a bit of a sale, but can’t wait to jump in sometime.
woooo water on mars at 7:26!
Atomic era design finally got humans to the heavens. I’m in!
Need that robocop review
And is inspired by Stanislaw Lem book. One of the best sci-fi writers ever
Vr implementation would be a win ❤
Funny timing, I was wondering what the hell was ACG doing reviewing “Invincible” than I looked at the thumbnail 😅
Keen to check this one out! Even if it just helps me sleep lol. How long does it takes to complete?
7-10 hours, depends on playstyle. If you soak in the atmosphere, read the notes, etc then more. If you sprint through it then less.
Thank you very much!!@@MKwadratPodcast
Thank you
The genre and gameplay remind me of Firewatch. Great game as well.
I'm a walking sim fan bit i found the demo so slow that it was giving me itchy feet. Maybe i'll try it down the line on sale or perhaps in VR or something
I liked the novel, while not my favorite of Lem's works it was certainly memorable. Might check the game later, despite my aversion of adaptations of novels I like.
What’s your favorite of his novels?
@@tylerscott6182 Return from the Stars and Stellaris are my favorite.
I played the demo back in June/July and I really liked it.
I love walking sims and I love Scifi, Story is king for my and I don't mind the slow burn. The worst thing in this game is cumbersome movement and how often I get ripped out of immersion by how non AAA this game is in some places. Those two things bring this game from 9/10 to 7 for me. I'm looking forward to this studio's next game, whatever it will be.
7:00 The game's weakness. I disagree. The fact that a game will potentially interest only a small group of people (those who like walking simulators, science fiction, slow-burn stories) is not a weakness unless you are taking the perspective of a capitalist investor. But if you take the perspective of gaming, it's not, because there's no way to improve on those parts: how can you strenghthen the walking simulator genre, or the science fiction genre, or the slow-burn pace? It's sounds almost like saying the weakness of Silent Hill series is that it's survival horror.
My favorite walking simulator is Everybody's Gone to the Rapture. Idk if I'll ever find another game like that.
Games like this seem rife for VR , would make it more compelling likely
VR version is not guaranteed, but it is planned. So if all goes well, we should get a VR version sometime in the future.
I NEED this!
The demo had shader compilation stutter and traversal stutter, has that been fixed? That to me destroys immersion. And pop-in destroys immersion as well.
Shader compilation stutter has been fixed, traversal stutter is there but it's negligible (and this is coming from someon who is sensitive to stutter). Pop-in is also not intrusive (subjective opinion, but again, I am sensitive to popup also).
Really loved Firewatch
I was in at Firewatch.
I can't believe you said it might feel overpriced for some at $29.99. A pizza at Domino's is overpriced at $25.99 people!
That's a piece of dough made by 1 person in 15 minutes with 3 dollars worth of toppings and you consume it in 15 minutes and its joy is gone, yet nobody bats an eye at the obscene price of it.
It took 5 years and thousands of hours and two dozen people to make a game like this. Look at the uniqueness of it. Yes, no banal combat stuff and yes walking a lot. So what? It doesn't make it any less of a game. The gamer mindset about prices needs to change. This game is worth its price to its audience.
This game's early demo ran with 5 fps on my GTX1060 6Gb on minimum settings even below 1080p. I hope the release is better, something was off there...
As ACG says in his review, the full game runs great. I finished it too so can confirm.
Game was really good. But I did not repel down any ropes in the game. WTH now I feel like I need to play again. I really wanted more at the end. I felt like the dude talking to you the whole time was in on something. I feel like they need a sequel. It deserves a sequel
İm a huge fan of Stanislaw Lem so im gonna definitely play this.
Imagine if Starfield planets looked half as good as the terrain shown here.
Will play, thank you
This looks right up my alley!
This game is super cool. It is based on good old sci-fi that I loved to read as a child, and it has absolutely stunning design and music, and the story is very good. And the fact that the main charachter is a woman and a biologist and she is not objectified of sexualized, and she has so gentle and intelligent personality, so I felt very comfortable to go to this journey with her. Guys who say that this game is 'boring' are absolutely wrong, maybe they simply do not understand this type of storytelling withoun splashes, shooting and constant rushing?
I am a slowburn, sci fi, moon, sunshine and walking simulator fan! yeey!
@ACGreviews You're probably quite ready to play something faster-paced after this and Alan Wake 2 😁
There has been so many games lately that only let you walk. I get it's a walking simulator, but give me a damn sprint button! I think Death Stranding did this best.
This game has a sprint button. The sprint time is IMO too short but I gave feedback to the devs so fingers crossed that they will extend it.
