The ace pro ride data also works from the garmin Edge, I use an Edge explore 2.
Yup! Any Garmin device in fact. Heck, even a Lily watch or crazy old Garmin outdoor unit, as long as it pushes to Garmin Connect, you’re good!
Nice vid. A bit off topic, but since you mentioned the Insta360 Ace Pro I don’t see any reviews on the Insta360 Ace. Are you going to do a comparison between the two? Seems that an “old” man like myself maybe doesn’t need a Leica lens.

It will be interesting to see how it handles sub zero temps. I read your review on the Hero 12 and watched the vids. So I know Hero 12 will handle it. - 18 to -20C that's great.
Oooo the overlays option sounds potentially useful! These days I find the VIRB software pretty useless on Apple Silicon so I’ve been looking for alternatives. This “could” push me into upgrading my Hero 9 as all the software packages I was looking at are £100+. So, intrigued to see how that all works!
Still odd that gopro took the GPS out but didn't do anything to link GPS from your phone or Garmin. Heck, why not still include GPS but give users a toggle in the ui? If the ace pro had a removable lens cover I would have gotten that.
Agree on all fronts. To me, doing what Insta360 did is pretty brilliant as a middle ground. It offloads the data capture to something many people already have, and heck, even Insta360’s solution doesn’t even require an Apple Watch, you can use a phone app to capture the data too.

GoPro finally realising it isn't a good business strategy to keep pissing its customers off, and is slowly rolling out useful/usability features.
Weird you can't add Presets when Max Lens 2.0 is Enabled.
Can't believe it took GoPro this long to finally add such a basic feature. Hopefully it makes it to the older cameras too since I can't imagine there's any technical limitation stopping that.
Yeah I got excited hoping they brought it to the 11 as well, but no updates since October.

It's ridiculous that adding a "Rename" button in the app is kept as an exclusive software feature of the Hero 12. It's not even a change on the camera just in the app. This should be brought down to Hero 11 and prior.
Useful I suppose, but what I’d really like to see is the same Garmin integration that Insta360 just launched. Any whispers of that potentially coming to GoPro?
Nothing yet, but it really does seem like the best middle-ground solution.

I love the QR code functionality. Single website with all settings, instead of fumbling thru menus and horrible UI. I just print them and have them laminated in a little deck. If I want to change modes I don't have to take off chest mount adjust, etc. Just wave QR in front of cam.
I think QR is great for tons of things, but in this particular example, I’d think it’d really only be useful for someone dealing with a ton of cameras.
@@Dcrainmaker The main advantage Labs has for presets is they are instantly sharable (for other Labs users.) Also it is tad faster, as you don't need to do anything on camera, or anything in Quik. The creation of the preset, it settings and renaming is a single step.

I don’t have the change name button and I have a hero 10
I like it a lot. However, it won't get me to buy a Hero 12 when I already have 2 Hero 11's. I hope the update eventually comes to Hero 11 as well.
Yeah, it’s more of a minor thing. That said there were some other cool features in the firmware update, such as linear mode for max lens mod 2.0

Hi Ray, have you ever thought about reviewing the customer service for GoPro? I have had to use it twice and it has been very painful each time, the latest time makes me think the subscription service is at best very misleading. To be honest after using GoPros for the last few years, I am thinking it's time for a change as the poor customer service does not make up for the marginal gains in the product.
