      Animal is not crap, it's just different. But by saying that I'm not implying that the movie is a masterpiece, let's accept it, it isn't a masterpiece in ANY way or form. But here we are judging a movie based on WHAT is is portraying , and I think we need to stop that. We need to judge a movie for what it's worth and not on what it portrays. Jab Pink aaya tha tab log is cheez pe movie ko hate kar rahe the ki ladkiyon ko prostitutes kaise dikha diya, ye wo. But why don't we just understand the fact that such individuals exist in society and a movie is not going to change anything in that aspect?

    I believe you cannot make art a competition and so award shows are inherently antithetical to the spirit of art and creation. But they do serve a purpose of celebrating great cinema. Maybe there needs to be an upheaval in how we choose to celebrate it though.

    To be very honest, it doesn't seem like most movies are being made with the kind of professionalism it takes.
    Movies like Fighter, Pathaan, Jawaan are blockbusters. But who are we kidding? The dialogues were messy, Deepika looked pretty but did the same acting, the others as usual didn't act (barring Fighter). These were the movies that we're expected to boast about. Kalank felt like it would've made sense 40 years ago. Well, Pathaan, Jawaan also seemed like they were great movies that should've been made in the early 2000s.
    Directors like Konkona, Sanjay Leela, Mira Nair create an atmosphere of prestige on the film sets that makes it worthwhile for all professionals to bring in their best. The others just felt like there was spare change, so people decided to make movies out of it.
    Don't even get me started with the massy non-Hindi movies. They may be great entertainers for some folks.
    But must they really be awarded at all?

    • @Anonymous-bf5fk
      @Anonymous-bf5fk Před měsícem

      Just because mediocre movies are becoming blockbusters doesn't mean that they are the only movies getting made. For example, last year there were also movies like OMG 2, 12th Fail, that may not have been highest grossers but were certainly much better movies. Great movies are made, but don't always get recognition.

    @shaktiman528 Před měsícem +2

    Hindi Cinema has to invent something new and original, they can't emulate Oscars (et al) model. Even Oscars have been losing their sheen as of late. Oscars had an easy start, way back when the industry was tiny, relatively speaking. They have a prestige built up from decades, which some would argue is already on the decline. Today we stand amidst different time, and frankly, different people.
    In an ideal world, Awards should be by the Artists, for the Artists. By virtue of it being a profit-seeking TV show, they are the opposite. People who want profit arrange them, and they are made for lowest common denominator crowd, who (I'm sorry to say) aren't that concerned about Art. In short they are neither by the Artists, nor for the Artists. Artists are just in the middle, getting played.
    This is how you get award ceremony gimmicks that try to go 'viral' in order to get Advertising money. And that's the root of it all - depending on Advertiser's money.
    It is a hard truth to accept but you cannot marry the two motives, i.e. Arts and Profit-seeking sustainably without compromising integrity. You have to think wayy out of the box if you truly want a meaningful "Award", a true token of honour (whose primary goal is celebration and appreciation of Arts). You cannot do it with traditional, hierarchical thinking.
    Artists need to form guilds (Ideally Unions but let's face it, this is new India), nominate and elect judges themselves. They need to communicate with each other, they need to have a physical (or virtual) forum. That's when Artists will respect the awards. The award ceremony can then be truly a celebration, instead of it being a 'programme'. This is 2024, the ceremony can be streamed online (even here on CZcams) for all they care - in fact it might reach a larger audience than TV.
    Where will the money for all this come from? Not Advertisers. A collective fund, maybe. Some fields even have governments fund it (see how Booker/Nobel/etc non-advertiser-dependent prizes are handled). A non-artist will respect the awards even more as well. People won't get rich off it, and that is (should be anyway) the point.

  • @saurabhvashist4051
    @saurabhvashist4051 Před měsícem +2

    If we are the greatest film industry in the world, as vouched for by Rani Mukherji, why do our awards suck big time. The bigger problem with the industry is that it lacks proper guilds that are willing to come together to create a larger film academy that can then be entrusted to create a worthy awards ceremony. CINTAA and the producers guild are their own isolated thing, and the other technical guilds are basically small cliques. There is no coherence within the industry. So what remains are awards shows managed by film magazines or one ministry run awards function that looks like a sarakari udghaatan samaroh (governmental inauguration ceremony) which are managed by pliable juries. The fundamental thing is that everyone is out for themselves and their own self aggrandizement and there is no interest in what serves the larger industry better. And studios have little say in India. The stars run the show and they treat awards shows like they weddings they get paid to attend, manage my hotel booking, pay for me and my agent and give me an award or I am a no show. Frankly, Bollywood, and that is the name that should be used for it, is a jealous lot and everyone is looking for affirmation, even if it comes at a good price or a pathetic lip-synced performance. But hey, who cares about awards when we have the greatest film industry in the world, right?

    It’s time for ONE award contest across India WITHOUT a “jury/popular choice” category that has nominations announced (unlike National award). This holds all actors, directors, story writers, producers to a far higher standard than the current system.
    Consider 2023 itself: is the best actor Mohanlal, Ranbir, Vikrant, Nani? They would all be nominated and competing for one award, so a nomination itself indicates stellar talent, which each of these 4 displayed that year.

    No offence but bollywood as of recent has become more buisness oriented than artistry box office obsession is at a peak everyone is chasing a hit they are making films with same plot lines same actors everything so stereotypical so ego related and upon making bad films their defence is box office in 5 years no one will remember these films idk growing up or looking at previous work the story acting making a great film was a priority and the box office followed a great film today actors sit in intervies and yap about taking risks but idk actors before them took way bigger risks and made better films thats why their names will be always remembered as for todays so called stars they are obsessed upon acting like a star most of them if they stop acting in a year or 2 they will be completely forgotten

    Cant blame the stars alone, award function organizers are also to be blamed but then they are all private companies caring more about making than about purity of awards or award shows. Even the show anchoring is so mediocre and get sick and tired of seeing same faces again and again like Karan Johar. There only a little of merit left in these award shows main due to decent quality of on stage performances (only some though).

    Awards are shit because Alia and Ranbir get awards for mediocrity. Why didn't Vikrant Massey got best actor filmfare, his movie was hit and better than animal. But only nepos get mainstream awards and other actors inspite of good film never breakthrough the barrier. Worst nepos like Ananya and janvi get awards personalised for them as you say. Ranveer was much better than Alia in rocky rani but he was ignored. Why would anyone wants to be generous if mediocrity is winning?

    All blame should be on Karan Johar, SRK, Adi Chopra. From the time we used to make some good movies with Amitabh Bachchan great actors to making SRK a superstar. No doubt it was a degrade. Only actor who tried something good in my generation was Aamir Khan.

    • @Anonymous-bf5fk
      @Anonymous-bf5fk Před měsícem +1

      SRK has given many great films like: Darr, Baazigar, Swades, Chak De India, MNIK, Dear Zindagi, etc. And, even though many of his films in the recent past are mediocre, he at least experimented with new concepts, like Ra One, Fan and Zero. Apart from Aamir Khan, even Akshay Kumar & Ajay Devgn have been pretty versatile, even Salman Khan in the 90s and 2000s was trying in new genres.

    Why should Bharatiya Civilization take lessons from the Hollywood or West as far as ART is concerned?????
    By comparing with Oscars one is promoting Western slave mindset and inferiority complex with respect to PERFORMING ARTS.
    BHARAT is the birth place of Performing Arts since thousands of years.
    The incredible diversity and traditions of Performing Arts found in India even today is nowhere across the World.
    Bollywood Ecosystem is run by all those who lack Artistic Mindset (From the Bharatiya Civilization point of view) and have Westernised Woke xenophobic mindsets.
    Polluted and corrupt minds are not capable of making good content.
    Even the so called critically acclaimed movies are "Garbage Pro Max" and have been blown up by Critics with Westernised slave mindsets.
    Technically Indian Cinema is "UN-INDIAN".
