    So amazing to see the original warning stencils still on the walls, untouched by time and graffiti. Looks like these bunkers suffered the same fate as the ones in the previous episodes. Someone has gone through, and used explosives to remove all the doors and heavy steel fittings, which is why you see shrapnel impacts on some of the internal walls. Guess it was cheaper and quicker than cutting them off. Most Post-War governments sold permits to scrap merchants to clean out the bunkers after the war, with steel in very high demand for rebuilding. Thanks for another amazing peek into History my friends. Cheers to you both, Stay Safe and Well!

      A couple of those russian mature big guns ended up on Guernsey Sirus battery. When they cut them up they had to get ICI to come up with a new mix because of the amount of gas they were getting though was nearly cancelling out the value of the steel.

  • @jeanlongsden1696
    @jeanlongsden1696 Před 3 lety +18

    the reason for the doors being taken was that scrap merchants had contracts after the war to remove them as well as the steel turrets off the bunkers and radio dishes too. there is a bunker in Guernsey that has been cut in half. as it has around a 8 inch thick steel dome under the concrete. but they never finished removing it all as it was costing the company too much money to cut the steel out.

    It's amazing to see such an untouched & ungraffited location you've found. The German stencils look like they were done last week. One tiny complaint though, I wish you would translate into English All the ones you show us, as well as saying them in german, as your spoken English is excellent & seems effortless for you. Your content gets better & better & I hope you never tire of doing what you do. Thanks to you both.

    Your videos always bring the reality and feel of these war sites to me - sometimes it is actually unnerving how fresh the stenciled bunker writings are and how pristine some parts of these installations are - it is as if the German Soldiers have just walked out of the room that you are showing and into one of the other rooms or stepped outside for fresh air and a look around. These Defenders of the Fatherland had a hard and sometimes miserable life in these war conditions and it is wonderful that you are finding and bringing the Details of the Truth of their lives to everyone! Hopefully, they had some joy and happiness in their doomed lives - hopefully, many survived the War and could find happiness afterwards.

    Looking at different bunkers at different locations it appears most of the writing on the wall was from stencils but others have what appears to be hand drawn by the soldiers that were there. Still wonderful to the writing is still there. I noticed on the gun placement there was markings on the concrete that looked like spokes on a wheel. Was there a purpose for them? I wasn’t expecting to see the electrical box for firing the gun still there. Very nice to see.

    Was definitely ready for P3 and the huge positions. Wow, walls were thick 3m at 1st Regelbau. Entrance extremely deep and well concealed. In excellent condition considering era, even looks like walls were repainted. Shame metal collectors got their hands on doors & metal casings. Love it when EE mumbles as yes it means he has found something most interesting. Writing on walls spectacular and still legible in most cases. What kind of paint did they use? Those stairs would have been a challenge during winter conditions at the 2nd Regelbau for sure. Was sorry to hear that you had a butt casualty on stairs at 1st bunker. Unfortunately, hazards of the work you do. Thanks for pic of German soldier positioned in Tobruk concrete bunker and showing us inside. That was very impressive all that advanced technology and infrastructure. Definitely looking forward to P4. Stay safe you too, and please watch those steps HH.

    I watched a video earlier this morning when I was going to watch one of yours. I think it was peacock channel or something like that. It was about German propaganda on the D day invasion. They showed the bunkers with the crews using the equipment on the walls, anti aircraft guns and large cannons even showed them loading one of the large guns. Everything they showed I kept saying to myself, that actually how History Hunter said it worked, what it was, and everything else you had shown on your channel. That piece of equipment that is still attached to the wall for all power outlets needs to be gotten to a museum bunker that will take and preserve that. Hope you contact a museum and let them know what you found?🙏🏻 it’s needing a full restoration that Museums can do. It’s crazy the nations that these bunkers are in need preserved for those in the slave Labour that was used to build them, need that memory preserved?
