    Hey, beautiful aesthetic and well executed. I appreciate that you like to work with brass tubing. But for your viewers who have other interests, perhaps the metal parts could be replaced with 3D printed parts either painted with metallic paints or just painted black. Best wishes! Thanks for the ideas.

    I like the simplicity. Getting the right diffuser for any LED project makes all the difference. What kind of tubing is that?

      Its polystyrene tubing - you can get it from hobby shops. This is the exact one I used

    Just FYI, pipe springs are supposed to be *inside* the pipe (that way, the pipe spring stops the pipe from collapsing when you bend it). So you either need smaller diameter pipe springs or larger diameter pipes! HTH. Well done, nonetheless - a superb result!

      the one he used is designed to be used outside, it has a funnel on the end. the inside ones have a taper on the end and usually a loop on the otherf so it can be pulled out with a cord. the sand has to be really compacted for it to work.

      i havn't tried it but i think it can also be done by filling with soapy water and freezing.

      Thanks! When I was researching I did see some people using them inside and outside the tube. However, you are def right about it working better if it was inside the tube. Unfortunately I couldn’t find small enough springs to fit inside. The best scenario would be to have one inside and outside I think.

      I have used what looks like spring with cable inside. It fits tight into the tube and allows you to bend with out kinks.

      @@lonesoulsurfer the spring has to fit snugly around the tubing, that’s how it keeps the tube from deforming and eventually kinking, so if the tube isn’t one of a few standard sizes, it may be difficult to find a spring they fits well enough to work properly. Great lamp by the way!

    hi Marcus,
    Can you confirm once more the height of the base? The instructables says 150mm hight, but when comparing that size with your pictures, that does not feel the true size. BR

      @lonesoulsurfer  Před 7 měsíci +1

      hey there,
      the base is actually 80mm. however you can really make it as high as you like. prob no less than 80mm though as you need to fit the dimmer etc inside the 40mm tube
