The schwinns with Tenex tubing use the 26.6 seatpost.

I've had several other lower medium range Japanese bikes that took 26.6 seat posts too. Also isn't it the tenax tubes that were later called cromor? Modern cromor tubes are "9/6" even though that's a lie as the chain stays and seat tube aren't. Seat tube is 9/5 and the stays are 8/5. .5 tubes let you use a 27.2 seatpost. I believe most of the vintage cromor bikes take a 26.8, which is 0.35 straight gauge... .08 or .09 I think😂.
I think my Schwinn premise, or prelude, lol, now I can't remember, is tenax but I don't remember it being 26.6 seatpost. I swear it's 26.8. if I wasn't so tired I'd go check.

Okay here's the deal with ur Bertoni. I've had two. One is a rebadged vitus 979 the other one was a steel with Columbus SL. Sold this one because it was too small. Bertoni was one of Bill Lawee,s brands who started Italivega in the early seventies and then later Univega. He didn't build any bikes he just contracted out. Somewhere around the same time he started Bertoni that he wanted to push as a boutique Italian line although in my opinion it wasn't. Yours has Columbus matrix tubing later known as Cromor so not the latest tube set.

Weird. I've always liked univegas, but been totally uninterested in italiveva. And yes the berroni seems like it's trying to be a fancy Italian bike, but like in a try hard way, instead of actually being that way way.

you may have already figured it out, but those cranks have a power meter. that's why they're so heavy, despite being carbon.

Lol, yeah, I know that was part of it, but even the non drive side was crazy heavy.

I know you like the thumbies but why not use a grip shift? I do on all my Citi bike builds and I love them.

I don't like grip shifts, but I know they dedicated fans😂. They shift pretty inaccurately, and are pretty annoying to change cables on. I always dredded seeing them on beater tune ups that needed everything. Again, I know people love them, I'm just not one of them.

Hi, StarMichaelBuilds. I'm restoring a sport touring bike (3x6) with Suntour derailleurs and I'm torn between using a chain with a quick link (Connex 804 - 7.2mm) or one with a traditional pin connector (Izumi Click Index - 7.3mm). I kind of want to go with the Izumi because it's Japanese, but I know pinned chains have limits. Which would you choose?

Hun, you might be overthinking it. I. Sure either would probably be fine. I've never broken a chain, or as best as I can remember seen a broken chain that was installed correctly.
The only hard and fast rumor is that you shouldn't use a quick link on a brakeless fixed gear, as they're a weak link. Or maybe it's because people are afraid they'd pop open while skidding or something.

@@starmichaelbuilds You are totally right, I am overthinking it...I even made a spreadsheet...I needed someone to tell me that. Thanks!
