  • I had the opportunity to visit the Pangsau Pass, which is located on the Indo-Myanmar border, about 12 km away from Nampong in 2022.
It was my first visit to this place, and I must say that it was a nice experience. The Pangsau Pass is a strategic location that connects India's Arunachal Pradesh with Myanmar.
It is also known as the "Hell's Pass" due to its difficult terrain and harsh weather conditions. The pass has a rich history, and it was once used as a trade route between India and Myanmar.
During my visit, I was excited to explore the border market, which is held at the pass. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the market was closed.
I was able to visit the Myanmar area by crossing the barbed fencing area path. An army personnel accompanied us on our visit and guided us through the pass. He informed us about the various facts and history of the pass. He also shared his experiences of guarding the border and the challenges faced by the army personnel in this region.
The Pangsau Pass is a beautiful place, and the view from the top is breathtaking. The pass is surrounded by lush green forests and hills, and the weather was really pleasant throughout the year.
The pass is also home to various species of flora and fauna, making it a popular destination for nature lovers. In conclusion, my visit to the Pangsau Pass was a memorable experience. It was fascinating to learn about the history and significance of the pass.
I hope to visit this place again in the future and explore more of its beauty including Lake of No Return !

Wow it has changed a lot. During my schooling days back in 1999 we toured this place on foot with the help of our jawan. Roads were kaccha and there was nothing except the pangsau pass board and lake of no return.. we entered deep and found two three Myanmar armies , staying in a building destroyed in WWII. Roof destroyed and walls full of bullet holes.. The Myanmar armies didn't allow us to take pictures. Thanks for the fresh memories of the school days .
