Always live, Chris was a songwriter and his wife Morgane told him he should be singing and the rest is history, they have 5 kids so very in love.
That's a bit overstated given his time as Steeldrivers and Jompson Brothers lead. It's more like he got discouraged and she provided the encouragement to give performing another shot.
Actually, according to Chris himself, while in college he performed on a street corner for an hour and made $40. Decided to leave college and make music his life. The Steeledrivers, the Jompson Brothers and his own solo career followed. The whole bits about him having stage fright and his wife Morgane convincing him to sing are all internet myths.
You don't get trained or learn to sing like that, that's a gift from birth. His classmates in choir said they knew from day one Chris was different.
I can hear this song thousand times and never get tired of it
His performance of " I was wrong" at Austin city limits is also spectacular!!! You'll like that also.
Yes indeed!!! Love that performance
I could never really describe why people need to experience this performance over the studio version, but you captured it; "it's got a little extra sauce." Yep. That's exactly it. I think it's because if a studio messes with anything of Chris' they take away some of the "Chris-ness." Lol. Oh Lord. They've got 5 kids. And Morgane's voice is stunning! She takes the lead in, "You Are My Sunshine," as you've never heard it before. And yes - try "Cold," but pick up the live performance from the 2021 Country Music Awards (CMA). You get him! 😉🙂
The live at the CMA’s gives me chills every time 😊
“I Was Wrong” from this same special is amazing.
By far the best version of this song! 🔥 Much love ❤️
“COLD” live is a Must!!!
Morgane was 8 months pregnant with their twin boys when they did this live in Austin. And Morgane is far from shy, she had her own singing career way before she met Chris, thats actually how they met.
Some things can't be taught. That's their gift from God.
People debate what genre Chris is, but in fact this song goes way back to the roots. Back before record companies and radio stations forced music into separate genres (and decreed that music be divided by race), country, bluegrass, blues, soul, R&B were all just variations of folk music common people played. Genres are simply artificial marketing creations, we shouldn't let them define what we like.
Only one you should do on official video and that is " Fire Away" and he agreed to do a video because it's about mental health and its very powerful
Just a little FYI..I read that Chris Stapleton has been chosen to sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl this month!🙂 I've just found your channel and loved your reaction and subscribed.
Nice ..if he does he will do Great!! Thanks for the sub 🤘🏽🤘🏽
He did the National Anthem some real justice!
She was caught up in that moment of feeling the love like the rest of us and just wanted to hug him atm.
i am 60 plus years old and i think he is my all time favorite
Chris and Justin Timberlake performed this song and Justin’s Drink you away at the CMA’s it was a killer performance. Chris was in between Justin and Morgane and he looked at her for most of the performance 😊❤❤❤ was beautiful to see.
He covered Metallica as well the dudes an alien period. He did amazing on the national anthem at superbowl this year
Morgane Stapleton has pipes! She is always his backup in life and on stage
All of Chris Stapleton’s music is great. Love your show
“Sometimes I Cry” is another great song!!
Live yes, they got the reins on him in the studios as you see in this "live" performance. 🎶I was wrong🎶live Austin City limits. 🎵Sometimes I cry🎵live Bing Lounge. Also a video 🎞 Fire Away🎞 higher ups wanted a video so he agreed 1 condition, it had a purpose. Video about suicide and a good one. Cold yes is a recent song watch the CMA live he performs it there and I believe he won an award for it there. So happy you going down this rabbit hole, I will watch👀 for your next reaction.☯☮
Chris could sing a phone book, and I'd listen! ❤️ Him.
I love how you noticed his wife.
Chris was influenced by various genres including old school R&B. He isn't a one trick pony who only likes and sounds country. I am not a country fan and I still love the songs of him where he demonstrates his soulful influence.
Also influenced by Snoop and Dr. Dre, I heard him say that himself.
If you want to hear her sauce, check out them singing You Are My Sunshine with her taking the lead. No disappointments with either the studio or live versions!
Nobody taught him but he was definitely listening & learning. He says that included Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg. Go back to Sandy Beaches Cruise 12 & listen to a very young Chris sing "Ain't No Way This Love Is Wrong" & "Fool Me Again". He already had it. His wife Morgane (pron. Morgan) has a beautiful throw-back country voice & is also a singer/songwriter. They definitely make beautiful music together.
Listen to "Cold"... this song Tennessee Whiskey was what my late husband used to play for me..
People don't know he's from eastern Kentucky. I wasn't effected by the flooding of eastern Kentucky last summer. Adults and children died. He gathered up other singers from eastern Kentucky. They put on a concert at Rupp Arena. They raised over 2 million dollars. I don't know him. I heard a guy that rode the school bus with him. He said Chris sang all the time on the school bus. Eastern Kentucky . Look up the song that he and Patty Loveless sing , You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive. They sang it at the 22 CMA awards show. Patty shows her eastern Kentucky Blues. His wife is on the song with them. Patty is a little older. She sang the song years ago. He also went to the flood areas. I seen him giving out water.
My guess he's mostly self taught. He's from Kentucky alot of music history in these mountains. Morgan sings like an angel. There's a clip on YT of them singing Amanda and Morgan can real.y be heard better in it. I would love to hear her sing more. She has a beautiful voice.
No one trained Chris how to sing he has a natural god given talent he discovered it on his own right from the beginning. His influences are from the old blues masters and old country singers. You know he wrote a load of hit songs for other people before he decided to come out of the shadows.
I highly recommend NPRs Tiny Dest Concert with Chris and his wife. Their voices compliment each other so well. And yes, I agree with you. You can feel the love between them.
Chris used to be in a band..Steeldrivers.."Blue Side of the Mountain". It was a bluegrass band.
It's Natural because a songwriter friend of his said she lived in the room next to him and he was doing it all the time
Some times I cry from the Bing lounge
I'm not sure if you have yey or not but you should check out the main squeeze's cover of "a change is gonna come", "since I've been loving you", or any of their pink Floyd covers. They're one of the most talented bands doing it and their guitarist is out of this world!
It’s the other way around. She was singing and gave him the confidence to not just be a musician-songwriter and encouraged him to sing professionally.😊 The are in love and the proud parents of 5.
He was the lead singer for the Steeledrivers before he married Morgane. She may have had influence on him going solo, but he was singing prior to her.
He has really bad stage fright and she keeps him calm. That's why he looks at her all the time. Great couple!
@@jonidegrazio1780 He does not suffer from stage fright. Never has. Maybe a little research would help instead of making up nonsense because he looks at his wife while singing. He loves his wife and credits her for keeping him grounded. But he started his singing career before ever meeting her. Starting in college when he sang on the street corner for an hour and made $40. He said that day was what made him decide to make music his life. So he dropped out of college and the rest is history. He wrote songs for other artists while performing in small, intimate places until becoming the lead singer for a bluegrass band called The Steeledrivers. And then as the lead singer for a southern rock band called The Jompson Brothers. I'm sure Morgane played an integral role in him going solo. But she wasn't the factor in him singing. Because he doesn't suffer from stage fright.
@@jerrypass7135 Good to know the 100's of messages I've read about his stage fright must all be BS. Thanks for the information.
Well research a bit more, and you will find interviews of Chris admitting to being very nervous performing live events. Including the National Anthem ( Bobbi Bones show interview). If you pay close attention, when he is on stage there is usually very soft
lighting on him , if at all, wears his hat down and focuses on Morgane.
If you haven't yet...you need to do "Sometimes I Cry" Bing Lounge Live Performance...is insane!!
I can't believe how people don't know about Chris, if you like music then you'll love Chris, listen to Cold!!!!
For Chris Stapleton songs:
Cold
I was Wrong
It’s a man’s man’s world
Fire away. (Must watch official video)
Just to name a few. Chris Stapleton does not make a bad song. To hear his wife sing- You are my Sunshine.
On the contrary, Chris has stage fright and needs his wife around close to give him the confidence to sing in front of the audience. So she is not shy, he is.
Dude, listen to Sometimes I cry, by Chris. It's one of his best. It's at the Bing lounge the sound is killer. Song is badass and his vocals off stellar.
Chris sings "whipping post" by the Allman Brothers.....a must see video.
"Cold" is excellent. "No one to Blame" is fun. "Death Row" is eerie. His cover of "Whipping Post" in front of Gregg Allman is epic.
"Sometimes I cry" Bing lounge performance will blow your socks off. Amazing chris stapleton.
great reaction my friend. Keep em' coming!
Yes COLD is a good one... but there are so many live performances on the internet to choose from.. CMT awards and CMA AWARDS has many especially CMT.. but the TINY DESK PERFORMANCES ARE OTHER SONGS.. SOME YOU'VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE
I haven't heard anyone mention this, but his wife had her own singing career going & is trained but something happened & she developed stage fright after helping Chris gain more confidence in his vocals. If you watch her, she never really turns toward the crowd but always faces Chris so she can perform but not get triggered by making him her focus! It's pretty incredible! Great reaction!
Peace, Love!!
Hes self taught- they have 5 kids- his wife talked him into recording
Behind every successful man is a woman. We each have roles to play.
I think that this song shows off his vocals the best. I'm pretty picky about the country artists that I like, and Chris was love at first listen! Yes, check out Cold, and The Traveller. He also has a new one out called Joy Of My Life, which is a cover of one of my fave John Fogerty songs. Nobody's Fault But Mine is another winner. New sub for ya
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
He’s always better live. 🖤
YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE, ft. Morgane Stapleton.
I hope you listen to the fan mash up of him singing this song with 13 year old Angelina Jordan singing ID RATHER GO BLIND. It's shocking how her voice stands up to his powerhouse vocals.
Great reaction and absolutely 💯 live always
Great reaction! ❤️✌️
Amazing.
Morgan was the one giving Chris the confidence to sing.
Have you listened to the George Jones version? Completely different but the version I grew up with. Love Chris Stapleton's version though. Won't say I love one more than the other but Chris is special.
When they met she had a recording contract and he didn’t. If you want to hear a song where she is featured…”Amanda”
It's 🔥
Chris is to Country as Ren is to Rap, and Ronnie Radke is to Metal!
Nuff Said!
Yes cold is good and sometimes I cry and death row
I just got the 1k like! Nailed it
He was raised on country, blue grass and soul. From my understanding he and his wife singing with him have 5 kiddos.
Ok you want to watch his live performances which sound better than his recordings.
1. Live impromptu performance of It’s A Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World 🌎
2. Sometimes I Cry 😢 live at the Bing Lounge
3. I Was Wrong live at Austin City Limits
4. Cold 🥶 live at the 2021 CMA
5. Hold On duet with H.E.R. at the CMA’s I think 2020.
6. Medley Duet with Justin Timberlake of Tennessee Whiskey 🥃/I Can’t Drink You Away CMA’s not sure of the year.
7. Live Duet with Jennifer Hudson at some awards show can’t remember the songs.
8. Tennessee Whiskey live performance at Austin City Limits.
9. Official Music Video
Fire Away
10. Official Music Video
Say Something Duet with Justin Timberlake.
11. DeathRow live performance at some country music awards show.
There’s much more and before he became a singer he was a master guitarist and songwriter for many famous artists across genres so you probably know his work.
You can Google that and get a list of songs and artists. I’m still working on that.
Beautiful *subbed*
Welcome to the #FTBFamily 🔥🔥
An American Treasure !
Cold, Fire live Cma awards. DEATH Row, It's a Man's World. I was Wrong,
You need to lsten to his version of It's A Man's World
Do you like country message videos you need to see Martina Mcbride and her music video of concrete angels, (watch it and hear the lyrics to the end) and another must watch start to finish Randy Travis "Three wooden crosses"
Check out the coma with Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake’
Cam awards 2015.
He's straight CHURCH
No lies told. This dude is a problem!
This is technically country, but there's a LOT of r&b here.
Must check out DEATH ROW,CHRIS STAPLETON
Have you reacted to Hardy and his music video of "Wait In The Truck" must see Start to finish scene!
When I said I wasn't effected by the flooding. I meant my area in these Kentucky mountains weren't flooding. I was deeply effected by what I seen on the news.
Bonita canción
This dude is a mix of Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and AC/DC
His Guitar Solo is much better live too..
Watch his tongue he does it with his tongue...
A love story like john and June cash
He’s currently touring and coming to my state (Maine) in July. Tickets are stupid expensive but I can’t NOT go!
I'm going to the NH show...worth every penny
@@jasonercolano2328 awesome! One of my oldest and dearest friends from Massachusetts is making the drive up to go with me.
@@lisazaccardimeunier8378 Awesome! I don't know if you've ever seen him live before. He is much better live than in the studio!
Actually, you got it backwards. He's shy and she calms him. 😉
Shout out to Morgane over there, very pregnant with baby number five.
Crazy as it is this isn’t even close to his most impressive live. Check out Cold-CMA, What are You Listening to, Sometimes I Cry and my favorite It’s a Man’s World-James Brown Cover.
You look JUST like Mookie!!!
Please checkout him and Justin Timberlake live at the country music awards. Straight 🔥🔥🔥
Morgan and Chris stapelton singing Amanda, or Morgan taking the lead singing you are my sunshine . If you want to get a better listen to Morgan . Live versions
Watch them sing Amanda.
It is totally opposite of what you thought. Actually Chris has very bad
stage fright and Morgane told him she will be there he can sing to her or
just stare at her in the audience. We wouldn't even know Chris if it wasn't for her.
The late great Sam Cooke reincarnated! Do a comparison and tell me I'm wrong. Soul is just soul.
Listen to touch the Hem of his garment by the late great Sam Cooke
Funny you talk about shy....it's actually the wife pushing him to not be shy. He has stage fright, which is why he was a song writer for so long.
The only reason we are listening to him now is his wife
🔥🔥🔥🚒👩🚒🔥🧯🧯
If you haven't felt it and heard it, he is and was influenced by BB King ... ❤️ ♥️ 👏 💖
"She can probably sing"???
People are people
Everyone can sing lol
Some sing in the shower hahaha some to an audience
Little known fact... Chris stapleton's dad was a 6'10 black Pastor from Detroit named Luther Vandross.
True fact. I swear.
