Awesome video, tons of info! I was hoping to catch you at the range to ask your opinion of the Tikka T1x MTR and now I know. Everything you've mentioned matches up with what everyone else in the sport says, CZ 457 are top tier, followed by Tikka's. If you're looking at the Ruger or Savages, you get something way better in terms of build/reliability/accuracy with the 457 for pretty much the same amount of money. Good stuff, keep the videos coming!

Fun list. Thanks. I've got a T1x MTR in an Oryx chassis. So much fun. First try at a precision .22. When shopping, both the CZ457 and Tikka were in the running. I went for the Tikka for the really nice stock trigger and because I'm eyeing up a T3x in .223 for fun longer range precision stuff (I'm limited to 400 yds at my range) and figured keeping the same form factor would be a great idea. Having now lived with the T1x for a while I may ante up for a CZ457 of some flavor, if only because I'd like the option to easily upgrade the barrel - not something easily done with Tikkas from what I can tell. Great video mate. I thought I’d watch it because it had the rifle I’ve just paid for and awaiting delivery. It’s the first gun I’ve bought since I was a kid when the government here in Australia had the buy back but I’d already sold my guns by then. It is a lot harder here now to get a gun/ rifle/ pistol as you have to qualify and hack your way through a lot of red tape. Finally I got a “Permit To Aquire” and decided on a CZ457 LRP so I was pleased that you rated it so high in your assessment. Hopefully I will have it next week. Cheers Jim

Excellent video! I am still trying to decide between a CZ 457 and a Bergara B14R. I think my biggest sticking point is the availability of 2 stage triggers in the aftermarket. I only know of 1 for the CZ, but there are a plethora of options for Rem 700 clones. This is the first I have heard of the Bergara BMR so I will need to look into that option as well...
Remington never chambered a .22lr with the 700... What do you mean by clone?

After watching this vid, I'm glad I just purchased a CZ 457. I was on the fence about purchasing a Vudoo or Rimx. And although they can be excellent rifles with excellent actions, etc... for the price point, they are far too finicky at this juncture to invest in one yet. In my research I kept on reading of too many frustrated owners; particularly of the Vudoos than the Rimx, about extraction issues, magazine issues and so on and so forth- to finally consider one. So I went with the CZ 457 because of its track record and aftermarket support. Hard to beat!
Maybe someday I'll own a Vudoo or Rimx, but not yet. I just don't want to deal with the headaches. Thanks for the vid! 👌💯

Largely agree with your comments and rankings. Very happy with my CZ457 Varmint Pro and have a Chasis VP on order. I've had two Ruger Armerican rimfire rifles. Neither were the LR/target model, but I was disappointed with the accuracy of both. They were 1.5 MOA at best.

Very helpful video. I have had my eye on a CZ 457 Varmint with 20" barrel. I cannot find any info on how these rifles are chambered. This seems to be a closely guarded secret. To me the chamber specs are the most important features of the rifle. Why? Because unlike the centerfire world where we can fine tune the cartridge to the chamber, with rimfire we search for the ammo brand that works best in the rifle. You touched on this point when discussing the Ultamatum - has an adjustable barrel nut to account for differences in headspace, etc. In the US we use SAAMI, but I think in Europe they use CIP - slightly different measurements. Since I can't afford a RimX or Vudoo, or even a CZ MTR (match chamber), I want to make sure I get a rifle chambered at Bentz or close. What do you know?
would you consider doing a video to compare different cz457? like among synthetic, american and canadian?

I shot the Ruger Precision for 3.5 seasons. It never honestly held me back in club events. I'm shooting a Vudoo now (bought used) and it's way more comfortable to run and plenty accurate! BUT, the mags suck and I've had more malfunctions in 6 NRL meets then I had in the ENTIRE time (including practice, lot testing, plinking, etc) with the Ruger.
As a result of not running 100% I actually dropped a couple spots in our league leader board! My friends think it is hilarious...
I think I'm just going to buy a chassis and shoot my wife's Bergara this year. We haven't run it super hard, but it feeds and ejects flawlessly so far. Not as accurate as the Vudoo (better than the RPR), but at least it runs.
2 prominent rimfire smith's have 'fixed' my Vudoo...and I finally got it back before Christmas. Fired 300 rounds of Lupua and had 4 fte's the other night! Now I know why I got such a 'good deal' on the Vudoo.
Yeah the mags are the weak point for the vudoos (I have a video on that!). They've announced a re-design of their aluminum mags that they'll debut at SHOT, I think it will solve a lot of their mag issues..
WOW! You covered an incredible amount of territory. I was fully expecting to disagree with you on several of your rankings before I watched the video. I agreed with every single choice! The only one on the fence was the Kidd rifle, but there are some other things about them that put them in the same B+ category for me. Very well done. On another note, does Canada have a special class to make people so nice? It kind of pisses me off that Canadians are so nice LOL!

Thanks for the ranking... even with the bias for CZ 457. I was deciding between a CZ 457 Synthetic and a Tikka T1X MTR, but went for the Tikka because of the better barrel and feel to the CZ 457 Synthetic (and I couldn't get a CZ 457 with the match chamber and barrel for a good value for money price). I would have had to spend the equivalent to the entire CZ 457 Synthetic rifle price for a better competition barrel from the UK or Germany to get the same as the Tikka T1X MTR out of the box. Only the CZ 457 At-One, CZ 457 MTR and the CZ457 LRP had a barrel and match chamber equivalent or better to the Tikka T1X MTR out of the box, but the first is not available in Europe, the second and third are a good €200 EUR and €500 EUR more expensive than the Tikka T1X MTR. From the European perspective, I would put the Tikka T1X MTR at a A- (great out of the box), the CZ 457 LRP at B+ (too expensive and the strange painted wood stock) and CZ 457 Synthetic at a C+ (requires too many costly upgrades and only good out of the box for shooting rabbits / squirrels and general plinking fun). The Tikka T1X UPR would be a B- (for the same reasons you mentioned in the video).
The At-one is available in the UK now so maybe coming to europe soon.
@@Lethal_Intent Too late for me... Bought a Tikka T1X MTR. Would be nicer to get the CZ457 ProVarmint or Chassis instead of the At-One in the European market, not just the North American market.

Thanks for the video. That’s a lot of rounds through a gun. Was that with the Factory or after market barrel. CZ is a good gun.. I have saw a couple of people have gotten rid of Voodoo because of magazine problems.
More so with the factory barrel but I’ve also run it for quite some time an IBI.

I believe you underrated the b14r mine shoots light out stock. With the right ammo it’s a one hole rifle at 100 yards when I do my part. Also works flawlessly and just running it stock and doing very well with it in prs.
Respectfully, I have never seen a rim fire rifle shoot a one hole 10 shot group at 100. I shoot 30+ matches a year at the local,Regional and National level and not even the most highly funded F class shooters can do that. If they are shooting well that day and have Very readable conditions I have seen a 10x on an NRA A-33 target.
Owning a bmr, it is a very accurate rifle that so far isn’t overly picky with ammo its a awesome rifle.

Probably the same tier as the custom 10/22 but higher because it’s not a semi. They’re a lot of fun to shoot and quicker than a traditional bolt action!
In agreement with your analysis and a great guide for someone looking at getting into the sport. Love the 10 22 , but the dollar cost value for them is not ideal and Ruger is not a value for anyone trying to get on target. The only thing stock still in my original Ruger10 22 is the frame and I'm spending a small fortune now on building another one that will be more precise. Just got the BMR and I'm pretty impressed with the initial sighting in and the start of the initial shooting in of the barrel.

The MTR and LRP are basically the same barreled action (but the LRP has fluting), you have to decide if the adjustments in the LRP stock is worth the extra money. If I were buying a 457 today, I'd get the model that comes in the MDT XRS 20".
One big Plus with tikka is the foot print is the same as the T3.
I don’t know if Canadian distributors have access to the Ruger 1022 LTV with CenterX most will shoot 1/2 minute at 100 yards, i’m shooting a kidd trigger, which is probably not legal for NLR22 base class

Glad to hear someone say the savages are showing up and pretty good. I only hear about the CZ. Would you recommend a b22 over the mark2? The models I like are only $50 difference so I’m leaning towards a b22.

Does anyone know if the Bergara BMR is allowed for production in Canada? Looking at the Feb 2022 list it isn't on there and the MSRP is more than $500.. it is nice that it includes a 30moa rail
I think it should be okay for production, I haven’t seen one in person yet. I would be surprised if they are considered in open category

I dont agree that the RPRR is not a precision rifle. I own one and I can easy make 5shot groups on 45yards that you can cover with your nail on your litlle finger. At 100 yards, it precent sub moa.
Is the Ruger American LRT really in Production? It's normally around the $759 (or greater) range in price.
I believe it is, the CRPS/ORPS uses USD retail prices and the limit is $700USD. The American LRT is $699.
@@Womfat The FAQ on the ORPS website makes no mention of the LRT. Further, it states the MSRP limit is $500 USD for the rifle.
It’s outdated, those are the rules from 2020. If you scroll further down the FAQ page, there is a 2021 rule book document with the new amounts.

Great Vid! Not criticizing your review because I've not shot all these rifles but I find it difficult to believe that CZs are the only S-Tier rifles amongst all those you've critiqued. I'm a big CZ fan too. I guess you did admit you're biased, lulz.
Never had a single issue with with my rimx. About 3000 rounds in. Have a few buddies with similar flawless function. Every voodoo guy I shoot with wished he had the rimx mags. Lol
I've learned that the chipping extractors were a common failure on the earlier RimX's. Makes sense as most my buddies were early adopters. After Zermatt figured out the proper material/heat treat, seems like it's not an issue anymore. I tested a rimX for some time and can admit the RimX mags are unarguably better than the Vudoo mags!

Oh man, I totally forgot about the Lithgow. I had checked out a demo one at a match and quite liked it. They are very uncommon in Canada currently though.
It's a really good rifle with a really nice action and uses the same mags as cz. We are getting more imported in Canada. Ask your local dealer to contact Impact outdoor supplies out of Alberta. if you want one.
@Womfat did you upgrade the barrel on your wife’s 457 synthetic?
For a little while I had but an CZ MTR barrel in it. The synthetic barrel was better for her because it was lighter though.

@@jonahchua It was measurably less accurate than the MTR, but completely acceptable for our club level matches out to 100 yards.

CZ 457 LRP for the WIN!!!!!!!
Been running my RimX for almost 2 years and 5600 rounds. No feed or extraction issues, I attribute that to proper stock/bottom metal fit.

The Annie rating is way off. Several top tier US NRL22 shooters are running Annie (Model 64s?) right now. I would love to see a straight-pull Annie 1827 in a chassis (but that would be a $5K+ build for an idea that hopefully would be better than a Vudoo ... hopefully).
RimX loses to Vudoo every time due to the RimX fixed extractor. I've seen the feeding problems and inability to singe feed cost shooters points. For that kind of money, any feeding problems crushes your soul (and all the 700s are susceptible).
Honestly, you need a tier over S class for the 700 footprints. Call it the Money Is No Object to Win (MINOW) class. That's where the Annies and Vudoos and RimX belong. They are simply better than the other options, but you pay for it.
Hey, that's fair enough! We just don't see many up here so they're not really on my radar. I was ranking them all based on the criteria I outlined at the start, but I agree, if you are willing to pay for the custom actions, they are basically a separate category!
I think you’d have to swap the 10/22 and the 795 for the production class. The Marlin is substantially more accurate than the 10/22 in stock form.
Never seen a reliable vudoo. After owning two now, I can attest that your better off with a CZ, Annie, or rimx.
