Probably my favorite episode of the season. The scene of Aemond claiming Vhagar is straight-up magical, I love the detail that he seems to be the only one to hear and acknowledge her calls at the funeral. Plus this video is giving me a much-needed break from lesson planning, so that's much appreciated. Great work as always!

@@rosita3528 he was a kid as well and he was literally outnumbered 4 to 1 and his atackers had a knife and he was still defeating them so they had to throw sand in his eyes to manage to cut him. Very few kids could pull off what he did.

And only Lucerys had a knife and he didn't use it until the end of the fight after Aemond picked up a rock. He fought off a 5 and 6 year old and 2 girls. 27:32 It's actually Criston who moves first and Daemon only moves to stop him. Criston starts moving and Harold yells "Ser Criston do not", before Daemon even moves. And after Daemon and Criston clash, Criston gets subdued by other Kingsguard members. After that Daemon is free to move but he doesn't go anywhere. If he wanted to intervene somewhere else, he easily could but he doesn't because he only moved to stop Criston.

(Alicent and her kids are excluded since they're Greens so Daemon doesn't consider them his family. Also Rhea Royce is excluded cuz Daemon never really considered her as his wife)

HOTD does a great job of portraying Aemond, he always gives me those same vibes as school shooters in school safety videos. Then when considering how he’s treated as a kid it starts to make sense, especially with how he acts after getting an incredibly dangerous weapon. So I hope the show continues on this path, rather than not making him the monster he truly was during the dance.

I was worried I slipped into a coma and woke up in the far future this morning. The amount of pleasant surprise at seeing another update AND not being in a coma cannot even be fathomed. Well played Glimbus.
What always annoyed me was in the books rheanys mother was a brunette, and so was she. Had she been made a brunet in the show, I feel a lot of the rumors might have been taken less seriously seeing how rhyneara’s children would’ve been her grandchildren, people might have been more inclined to believe genetics over adultry, maybe
I think for thematics and all they could have had her be dark haired during the who gets to be heir at the beginning and then showing her with silver hair to indicate both the time passage and to make her look more like the rest of the Targs would have done a decent job aswell, since they aged her up quiet a bit in the show. Maybe give her a few darker streaks during the first 5 episodes and then make her fully silver haired for the rest.

When i first watched this episode, my dog decided to acting up and while i was trying to deal with him i missed Lenor rowing away. I also waited untill the entire show was released to to binge it in a day. so spent the rest of the season really pissed at them for basically having him assassinated Lenor so they could marry. Later I saw other people talking about the changes from the book to the show and found out he survived. Neadless to say i was really shocked and had to rewatch it. I'm glad my boy lived and even if he soon dies to free up seasmoke i hope he got to live a little while on his own terms away from the BS court life.
They did dragon riding so much better in this show. Daenerys came off Drogon looking like the cover of a beauty magazine. Aemond came off Vhagar actually looking like he wrangled and rode a monster. I never realized how poorly dragon riding was portrayed in GoT until they started doing it in HotD.
I thinkthe worst part about this is that she looked like a mess after her first ride on Drogon, but never afterwards. Always perfect hair, Sansa can't ride on horseback without having her braid being messy, but Daenerys can ride a dragon and look perfect.

Among the many bad things Alicent has done, betrothing her kids to each other has to be one of the most egregious tbh. Sure, he hasn't gotten around to his soccer mum arc yet with the kids in the pit, but surely she can see that Aegon is not turning out to be a super great guy and to subject her daughter to an incestuous marriage to him? Just to avoid her being married to a bastard instead? Of course, this is also equally on Viserys for consenting to the betrothal but honestly dude is so out of it I doubt he's aware of Aegon's nature.

She could have just enganged her to Aemond, who is at that point far better behaved and not after every girl around him. It would also be poltically way better to have a first born prince free to marry for alliances.

Viserys did have a dragon! But he died, and it's heavily insinuated Viserys rode him once because he knew that Balerion was way too old to have a new master. Viserys I was a great person, but a weak king, and him riding a dying Balerion and having Balerion die on his watch symbolizes the downfall of the golden age of the Targaryen dynasty, while also showing that Viserys was selfless and merciful. I couldn't think of a better Targaryen for Balerion to have in his twilight years, and it kind of made Viserys look powerful, even if only symbolically since Balerion was renowned but past his prime. I'm honestly surprised GRRM glossed over Viserys so much in the books considering how pivotal of a role his actions and consequences were. I'm glad the show and Paddy did the character justice, he deserves it

It really annoyed me how they made Daemon in HotD seem so disconnected and seemingly not in love or even affectionate with Laena when in the book one can make the argument that out of all the women he's married or been intimate with, it's obvious that Laena was his actual true love.
