your voice makes you sound like the friendliest person ever haha
Totally makes the video
Watching this video, I realized how much I've learned from you, Donna! I refer to you with my family as "the sweet lady who taught me to square foot garden". : ) Thank you for so generously sharing your knowledge. Your recommendation of the greenstalk was all the endorsement I needed and it was my gift to myself for the fall garden season! Love it, worth every penny! Can't wait to learn how to pickle jalapeños! My son loves them!
Well done, Donna! What a wonderful harvest! -Ashley with GreenStalk Garden
Your voice is so soothing and makes me feelhsppy and sleepy. Your the perfect voice for ASMR
Your channel is a absolute joy to watch and your presentation and methods are crystal clear. Really appreciate it
Wow, thank you!
Im so buying this and I'm gonna give this a try Thank for sharing!!!
Old school says put your seed starts on top of the refrigerator for a slightly warmer environment. Thank you for the close up on the stack system!
I sis that too when I first started gardening. However, sometimes I would forget about the, lol. The warming mat does a great job too, just have to watch it closer.
Awesome. I just put the seeds straight into the seed starter pods with soil and use warm water to water them.. works great!
This is a great video. You have a lovely speaking voice.
Your videos are great. No chatter, just great info. Thanks!
I appreciate that!
Oh man, and now I found the video on how to set the whole thing up! I'm in trouble, this is going to be fun. Thank you for sharing, I am excited to try this with my peppers!
Glad it was helpful!
That thing looks awesome, might have to try 1 next season.
That vertical garden is dope af
They also like warmth in their roots during the seedling phase after germination.
Damn friendliest, kindest, most soothing voice I've ever heard............voice of an angel I would surmise.
Cool setup! Thanks for sharing
This was so helpful, thank you so much!!😊💗
I love the design of the planter. Seems convenient for us living in apartments who can't grow outside. My window is cluttered with plants. As for red jalapenos, I'd keep the seeds as the green ones aren't mature enough to grow more.
Hi, Donna, have you tried making candied jalapeños? They’re really good with cream cheese on a cracker or toasted baguette slice. I usually take out the seeds though, so they won’t be too hot.
I haven't tried them but it sounds delish for sure!!
Good morning Donna. I just subscribed to your channel after "finding" you again. I live in Zone 9B along the carcinogenic coast. I live for Thai food and after being involuntarily retired due to an accident I started growing as many ingredients as possible, mostly from grocery store leftovers. I have been gifted a few essential ingredients from my Thai friends such as galangal and my kaffir lime tree. This year I took a leap and bought some pepper plants(jalapeno. tabasco, and cayenne}at the local Lowes or Home Depot? I got a late start and had a few minor problems but it has been so much fun, especially now as they are beginning to fruit. My wife and I have been considering a retirement move to W. North Carolina to get farther away from hurricanes and to get more seasons LOL. Would you mind sharing what county you live in? I'm sure I'll be asking more questions as I love your channel, your tips, and your voice ! TIA, Will
Hi Will! Sorry for the late reply - I did not get it and happened to be scrolling through the comments here. We live in Buncombe County. Most of WNC is very nice. I also enjoy Haywood county, Waynesville area. Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks for commenting!
85’F is perfect if you have an incubator. You can sprout directly in plastic throw away water cups “Dixie Cups”. Be certain to poke holes in the bottom of the cups to allow extra water to drain.
I like your voice.. calm and sweet ❤️ thanks for the info 👍
I made candied jalapeños last week but I had to use peppers from the store. I'm so excited to grow a ton myself! I just ordered a greenstalk since I've already used up most of my garden beds. I also watched your bunching onions video and got inspired to start some of those seeds also. Thanks for all of the great videos! By the way, was is that red poker that you are using called? I really wish I had one of those when I was starting my seeds in soil blocks.
Wonderful! You'll love growing in the Greenstalk. I was using my shrimp deveiner. You can sometimes find them in the seafood department at the grocery store or on Amazon.
@@RainbowGardens I've got one more question! I'm only using 3 tiers of my greenstalk and I have 10 jalapeño plants growing. Do you ever rotate your greenstalk so that the plants can get the same amount of sun or is this not necessary?
I like your video on Pepper growing 😁.
Very succinctly put.
Glad you liked it!
Great video love it
Where do I get the tier system at?
Great 👍 The green jalapeño is other variety from red jalapeño ? Thank you and have a wonderful day!!!

i have jalapeno plants in one of those long pots. they are too young to produce yet. but hopefully soon.
Can I ask what zone you are in? And that was amazing!
Do you need to germinate seeds
Where I am, coastal temperate Australia, Tomato will grow all year but not peppers. Maybe with a greenhouse. Project here. Thanks
Hello, I am having an issue and I'd like your help if possible. My jalapeno plant has many healthy blooms. However, they only put out a maximum of 3 peppers at a time. They will only produce more fruits when I harvest the peppers which have grown. I would prefer to let my peppers stay on for a bit to let them turn red but my yield is so low. Can you tell me why my blooms drop or don't mature if I already have peppers? Am I not fertilizing enough? Thank you! I really love your channel and I appreciate you for sharing your knowledge with everyone; it's really helpful.
Hmm, I haven't heard of that before is your plant large enough to grow? My jalapeno was kinda skinny and still produced which probably wasn't good. But if you want red you can pluck then while there green and put them by a window or something they'll turn red after like a few weeks
Blooms dropping and low yield could be an indication of:
- too much water/not enough water
- too much fertilization/not enough fertilization/wrong kind of fertilization
- bug infestation either on the plant itself or in your soil (or both)
- too warm/too cold
- not enough sunlight
- overall weak plant (weak seeds to start off with, bad genetics).
It's too hard to tell from here without knowing what you feed them, how often you feed them, how much water you give them, etc., so giving you advice right here on the spot is nearly impossible, my friend. But I myself did have that same issue with one hot pepper this year - while the other ones weren't affected at all - and it turned out it had a really bad bug infection. Not only on the plant itself - which I was able to tackle pretty quickly, but also in the soil itself - which I didn't notice until I pulled it out of its pot. URGH. 95% of the blooms fell off in less than 48 hours, resulting in a very low yield on that one particular plant. So maybe THAT was your issue too?
Cheers.
damn girl, pretty sweet setup you got there! cheers from brazil
You are the chef John of gardening
Haha!
@@RainbowGardens great info video, the information that you deliver as clear as Chef John (food wishes)
What potting mix was used for the green stalk planter? It looks light and fluffy
I made it and the link to the video is in the description area below the video.
Hi Donna. Great harvest! Do you ever prune your pepper plants? ~ Helen
No. It’s called cropping.
My husband got me the leaf green stalk, will this work for peppers as well?
I would recommend the Original for peppers. However, you can certainly try! it should still grow but the plant will be small and probably not much peppers. I would try very small peppers in a leaf. I grow a of of bells in the original too. you can check out my channel for more GS videos.
I'm from St.Petersburg Florida we grow year round what's a winter
Couldn't i just use like 10 regular buckets full of soil at vary sizes and do this with more soil, and more space for their roots?
The thumbnail pic reminds me of the album cover for Extraordinary Machine by Fiona Apple
How long do pickled peppers stay edible?
Excelente video, Gracias
Will green stalk deliver the planter to India ?
In my growing zone they grow year round would the roots in the pot eventually choke each other rout or grow peacefully
The old roots will eventually die off and rot so you are okay with leaving them but I would get the old cluster of root out
You can prune the roots after each year and add new soil
I don’t see the link for the tower
The voice at the starting reminded me of Google's voice assistant...
Love the video,🤣
Haha! Glad you enjoyed it!
Donna if I was to do this in a raised bed how tall would you said I need to make the raised bed? Thank you so much
I grow peppers in 6 inches using the square foot garden method and the soil blend. There's a lot of info on my channel about it.
@@RainbowGardens thank you so much I’m so thrilled to have found you!
I love jalapeno peppers
I eat them every day heart healthy❤
Awesome system, but I'm not convinced that it won't fall over when some strong winds occur. I mean, it's top heavy, sooooo....
Nice yield by the way!!
Cheers.
No way unless it's user error. I have 7 Greenstalks and have been growing in them for 5 years. Only one time, I had one situated on a sloping driveway and we had winds from a hurricane which made land fall on the coast of NC. The winds made their way through the western North Carolina mountains and blew over the GS I had on the slope. It was okay because it was close to the end of the growing season anyway. Happy Gardening!
I am planning to grow peppers
How often should I fertilize it with the miracle grow you suggested ? And do I stop fertilizing when they start producing ?
Hi! Here is a video which should help: czcams.com/video/x-WOvgyCYMY/video.html
I feed about every 7 to 10 days and get around a total of 20 pounds of peppers per each 5 tier original Greenstalk. I continuously feed them to encourage new blooms.
Unfortunately, the soil blend I use (in the "tips" video), many of the components are hard to find or out of stock right now. It is fine however, to use a potting soil mix. Make sure to use potting soil.
@@RainbowGardens
Thanks for your help this really help can’t wait to grow more
I mix peat moss with compost but I use perlite instead of vermiculite not sure if it makes a difference
@@658trudy it makes a slight difference, but I'd what I would recommend if you can't get vermiculite.
@@RainbowGardens
Thanks
Very nice!
Thanks!
@@RainbowGardens You're welcome 😊
Through lactose fermentation??
Yes, I have a video on my channel.
What size is your planter?? Is it the extra large one?? Thanks love your channel
hi Aisha,
It is the 5 tier, so the largest one they sell. I just love using them for fresh herbs and veggies!
@@RainbowGardens the price for this planter is absurd. This china product probably cost $5.00 to make.
@@tonyfc8809 I believe it's made in Tennessee rather than China
@@tonyfc8809 it is made in USA and not China.
Will this method work with thai chilly peppers?
Check out the video in this playlist where I grew other types of peppers, 24 plants, in a Greenstalk: czcams.com/video/ksc9UvMBw-4/video.html
The ziplock method can I place on counter with sunlight?
bmlsb69 no it needs darkness to sprout
It doesn’t need the heating pad, room temp is enough
Do they need a lot of water
Yes, water almost everyday when they start to produce fruit. Your soil should be high quality container soil so that excess water will drain away.
Beautiful! Do you make cowboy candy too?
Not yet!
i wonder if this will grow in the tropics
Maybe not handle really hot weather. Not a lot of soil there.
Cool
What Variety of Jalapeños are you growing?
The seed packet contained an assorted blend of Jalapeno varieties.
I grow green onions with each pepper plant and never have bugs.
I will try that thanks!😊
Muy Bien.
Thank you!
Instead of a 3-stage process, why not plant the seeds directly in your soil outdoors?
My growing season isn't long enough.

Who else just popped open a family size bag of Jalapeno kettle cooked chips???
I wouldn't use miracle grow on anything I was going to eat.
