      This is why I am glad that my monitor adds its own crosshair/dot for games like that. Makes things so much better and more accurate than most games built in crosshair and I'll never have to buy a scope or dot to play a game properly. BTW the warzone crosshair is ever so slightly left side biased.

      But the thing is it was weird bcz Roze skin was an MW Season 5 exclusive and there was literally no way to buy the skin after the season ended... Also when the season was going on people were actually not yet using the Roze skin and there was no talk about Roze skin, it was only after the season 6 ended and we got closer to CW integration, it got major traction, so Activision was not able to make money off it after it got traction bcz it was a limited-time item, so they just left it and the people who were playing the game during Season 5 (and bought BP) only had access to it...

      How is it "predatory" to literally just have a game package for 45 dollars that gets you lifetime access to the game and all future updates with no monthly sub fee? Who's holding a gun to someones head forcing them to pay a thousand dollars?

    • @chasekidd
      @chasekidd Před 2 lety +2

      @@Baleur While I am definitely a big defender of Star Citizen, and as I mentioned above, I love playing it, it is 100% predatory when it comes to marketing.
      The cycle ships in and out of the store, often raising the prices of the ships when they come back, creating a sense of urgency when a ship you might want is being sold.
      The ships are defined basically as gifts given to you for pledging money to the game, not as you buying the ships, specifically so they can ignore any refunds/returns or disputes.
      Their are multiple tiers of exclusive clubs you have to buy into either through subscriptions or just spending a ton of money.
      The high pricing of the ships in general is 100% whale bait. They aren't priced that high because they cost that much to make, it's because there are enough people willing to buy them that they can price them that high.
      Also hull-limited ships, pretending like there is a limited number of ships available when it's a digital good to create an artificial demand to justify sky rocketing the price.
      It's a good game, I've spent over 1k$ on it, I don't regret buying into it, but I can recognize that their business tactics are in no way ethical, and prey of the fact that people with too much money to spend, or just enough money to afford it and have a fomo will buy the ships.

    • @depwise1154
      @depwise1154 Před 2 lety +3

      @@chasekidd Do you really think it is unethical ? (genuine question) If it were to feed big fat publishers with only promises (as the video pretends) I would agree, but the game has no publisher so to speak, that's the big difference that is very rarely touched upon. RSI doesn't have a traditional business model, and it seems misplaced to judge it by traditional standards. The game kept on a crowdfunded model with rewards at the level of the investment (until some recent external investment at least), so no big investor on a capitalistic model is fattened from the money put by backers. The benefit goes to the company (who functions and grows thanks to it) and to... the backers themselves who get (progressively) delivered their dream game, therefore I do not see how it is unethical. In a sense, this business model could be seen as more ethical than traditionnal ones, as no greedy middle men extracts value from the work of developers, and all of the money invested actually goes into the game. It is even done with a level of transparency that has no equal (to my knowledge), so again, only more ethical to me. It's "direct marketing" meets the gaming industry.

    1. Star Citizen is not a pay to win
    2. All most every ship is in the game and the ones that are not in it are being worked on.
    3. all you need is the starter ship that costs $45 and then buy all other ships in game.
    4. The game is taking so long because CIG asked it's backers is they would want planet side action on ground and they said yes.
    so CIG had to start over on the project for it to have ground combat and landing on planets with out a loading screen
    The game does have it's issues as it is in alpha but it is a good game that will make a lot of other games feel weak.

The game has 48 unique ships to choose from, and that's not including their variants, which would put it up over 100 different ships.     My feedback on this video;
    Don't know other games but really familiar with Star Citizen so my feedback will be based on that.
    First: Pay to win: No, first of all every player can earn the ships and everything is balanced. For example if you bought a big, expensive ship in the game you can't do anything unless you have a crew of a lot of people. And a same number of people in starter ships can take you down, its a fact.
    Also there is literally nothing to pay to win. What are you winning? Its a space sim game with player interactions and massive active communities. Us as the playerbase who wants to support the game, are buying stuff with our disposable income. The main reason why 40k package is hidden after 1k spending is to prevent people who spends money instinctively and irresponsibly to go get that package when they just found out about the game.

If Digital Extremes decided that they should give a chance to collectors to buy those cosmetics ofc they would sell higher. So if you want a full set of extra cosmetic armor and another gimmic you need to pay like 20$, 'cause that gives you 3x "regal aya" which is this events special currency for instant buying either full weapons/warframes or cosmetics. I see that as a very reasonable price for someone that is a collector, 'cause that's the actual target audience. Again, those were meant to be exclusive limited items yet they returned, so ofc they are more expensive now...
