I've played WoW since launch to this July - like 16 or 17 years quitting during Cata and WoD. I once again got fed up with the plummeting quality of life and ever rising cash grab practices, so I just switched to FFXIV. Hopefully for good.
Yes, they groomed you in their better years, but much like in an abusive relationship - you are better off cutting ties with a psychopath than come back seduced by their sweet talk, promises and your force of habit. The new mw is great because the battle pass replaced the loot boxes. IDK how you could add battle pass to modern warfare remastered maybe DLC maps and cosmetics but still better than the loot boxes MW remastered got

My son absolutely love the Skylanders games. He and his friends would get together at someone's house after school or on the weekends to play together for hours. They were expensive to get, but because he had so many friends to play with, they would "trade" characters for a weekend so they could all play different ones without having to buy every one of them... Good times 😸

For real though, it amazes me how companies like EA and Activision even continue to operate. Obviously big rich businessmen running it helps because they can just keep propping it up with their funding from Coca Cola, but I swear part of the contract with them must include a clause where you give up a hostage to the publisher for insurance' sake... like there are a lot of insanely talented developers under both those companies who could *easily* find contracts with other less cash-grabbing companies and pretty much guarantee a successful release.
They might not be around much longer if they keep laying people off just so the higher ups can get a bigger paycheck like fuck why does someone who sits on their ass need $2.5 Million in a paycheck?

I remember when I used to work retail around 10th grade for a few years onward. Skylanders had come out and parents and children went apeshit over those plastic toys. They sold "exclusive to store" ones I believe and also "limited" ones. I'd get calls all night and customers coming in always asking about them. You see their true colors come out when they get salty at the employee for the lack of stock lmfao

For the Overwatch example, they’ve changed it so you can’t purchase event items with credits when it’s not event time, but you can at the time of the correlating event including previous items.

Activision in D2 Year 1 was a horrid cash grab, first 2 DLC's were horrible, Dawning was just, "Hey give us money", right now the current season of Destiny is is probably the best D2 has been, since Destiny 1, I wont say Bungie as a dev and now free publisher of D2 has been better each season since leaving Activisions controlle, and the shader as consumable thing is about to go away in the next few seasons as well

@@darthvader4339 Sunsetting is Halted, Story and content are balanced, activities are rewarding and replayable, the grind is good , classes are pretty balanced ( stasis nerfed) , Season 14 and 15 bringing Big changes to Amour and shader customization. NOW, Bungie needs to work on New Player Introduction, cause from what i've been seeing, getting into Destiny at this point in time is like starting a show 7 seasons in, DX

MW Remastered was the most frustrating for me. CoD4 is one of my favorite CoDs ever, but having to spend so much when I could still play the original via backwards compatibility on my Xbox, there was zero reason for me to waste so much money. By the time they released it stand-alone I didn't care enough and I never picked it up.

@@warframehunter7298 I just recently picked them up again since the game themselves were quite good and I needed something my girlfriend would enjoy aswell. Looking at the fact these things are worth nothing now, it is still fun, at least for me and my gf.
We spent like hundreds on it for my son and all thats left is a couple broken figures he destroyed most of them at about age 8-9 wish we still had them.

Buying Cod points is horrendous, 200 points for $1.99 and 2400 points for $19.99 and every skins in MW 2019 costs on average $10 to $20 is insane and ridiculous! Comparing to buying all OG MW2 dlcs is worth $20, this is daylight robbery!

To me, the Galakrond’s Awakening adventure felt like a cash grab because most of the powerful cards you can get were locked behind this adventure (Fist of Ra Den, The Amazing Reno to name a few) were used in a lot of decks that reached legend rank

I played Simpsons wrestling when I was a kid, I definitely had some fun with it back then. Maybe not so much if I were to play it now.

Simpsons arcade game was one of the best Arcades of all time. It's also the first Arcade I finished solo. I used to play as Lisa (mainly because everyone wanted to be Bart or Homer, so it was always easy to get on as Lisa, so I put all my time into learning her)
Modern Warfare 2 campaign only remaster was a big one considering it sold for normal release price aka $60 when it didn't have spec ops or multiplayer, however it did lower in value pretty quick because of that fact.
Sky Landers was my childhood! Me and my brother would play it on the Wii all day. I usually played Trigger Happy, while my brother played Terrafin. We were so poor back then, but my dad somehow found a way to get us one or two every week! It was so cool and I am really thankful that my dad bought us almost all of the characters in Spyro's Adventure and Giants. They were stupidly overpriced. But, all good things came to an end when we tried to play Swap Force, and it broke our Wii. R.I.P.
I give them a pass on Skylanders because I thought they were (mostly) pretty well done and you could always grab a few on sale. I bought quite a few for my kids and they spent about as much time playing with them outside the game as in it so being able to grab 3 or 4 for 10 bucks for something my kids played with a lot seemed very worth it to me.

I have no love lost with activision but the overwatch point about summer games was fixed. In all events now credits can be used for skins (the new event skins are 3x the price of normal ones but hey, progress).
I didn't have an issue with the toys to life thing, but that's probably because I was too young to realize what was actually going on

13:43 that's still one of the most offensive things they pulled off. They snuck lootboxes in under the table post ESRB so the physical copies of the games still had E on them. Several stores I visited during this time included signs next to the games to warn parents of the change, since the lootbox update wasn't optional.
ok, pretty much all of these have good points EXCEPT for the watch one. you can just check the leaderboard in-game with the push of a button to see your in-game k/d.
Yeah its literally just a cosmetic and its not like checking your k/d mid match is that important unless you are going for a challenge or something like that

I worked as a manager in a retail store. I went to a brand new store when Skylanders was dying. The other stores offloaded 100s of that shit on me, and NONE of them sold. I was stuck with them for the 3 years I was there until leaving at least lol

I doubt this will be in the video but I want to share my one MTX experience, specifically with black ops 3.
I was 16 at the time, I got the game at release and grinded my way to max level fairly quickly. They added loot-box weapons post launch after about two months. They were obviously cool and everyone wanted them, bringing back fan favourite guns. It was impossible for me to get them (I believe the reason was because I was high level after seeing a ton of new accounts have all the guns) because they were obviously pushing MTX. Shortly thereafter they released a deal, 2,500 cod points for a “triple play” (one guranteed ranged weapon, one guranteed melee weapon, and 10 rare loot boxes). I thought to myself, I’ll spend $20 to get the cod points for two guranteed weapons, whatever, I loved the game at the time (still do). However, $20 only got you 2,400 cod points. The only way to get the remaining was to spend another $5. Buuut, if you noticed the $40 option came with 5,000 cod points, you realized you could buy 2 triple play packs. So I figured that’s what I was gonna do, $40 and get 4 weapons plus 20 rare loot boxes. I bought the cod points and purchased the first triple play, only to be met with a one time purchase limit (something that was not disclosed anywhere unless hidden behind TOS or something like that). So I just used the remaining cod points I got for free. 2 months later they ran the same deal.
That is the one time I ever bought MTX. They used nostalgia and deception to push people like me to buying more MTX without letting us use them like it was implied we could not knowing any better because I was 16 still.
