"The middle portion of the game was intentionally stretched out to drive players to buy these time savers" It actually made me just drop the game completely
This is interesting subject. I usually play rpg's the way that I have to do as much of sidequests as I can before continuing with the main mission. So I think this would work for some players like me, but the "timesaver" should still absolutely be free. I in fact usually loose interest in the game after I have done the main story even though there could be lots of content left in side quests. One opposite game mechanic I dislike is in farcry 5. I don't play the assassin's Creed games so idk what this is all about. Was it like the old saints row where you had to do side quests to earn XP to do the main quest lines?? Can someone explain it to me or give me cliffnotes??
@@maxbracegirdle9990 I've forgotten nearly everything about this game so bear with me, but I think the issue was that the game not only had a crap ton of quests, but the quests were stretched out to be unnecessarily long with their tasks They also loved making the player travel from one end of the map to the other On top of that since the game has a leveling system, unless you found a way to cheese through it, some missions were impossible to do if your level wasn't high enough so you would have to come back later after screwing around and levling up
I remember when one of the older Ghost Recon games got removed from steam merely because it wasn't making Ubisoft money. There was still a huge playerbase for that game, but since it was older and in the same vein of some of their newer games, they just straight up put it down for the sake of moving players to newer games. Idk if it worked, but damn it was scummy, and that was my favorite game at the time. Edit: it was phantoms.
Fishy Vagina you can't generalize like that. I've been a "gamer" for as long as I can remember and everything that i have ever bought in a game has been in a f2p game with my own money that I want to support. Then there will be spoiled kids and teens but it's just as much the parents fault as the kid/teen to just throw money on AAA trash. I've also not bought any AAA games for like 4 years now at least cuz they are all the same just with a kinda new story.
@@cryptiik5700 Speak for yourself. I personally believe they make some of the most amazing games out there. They are in this industry for ages. Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Brothers in Arms, Watch Dogs, Rainbow Six, For Honor, The Division, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Rayman. I've been with them from the very beginning and still enjoy the amazing experiences they release. Their open world games are mesmerising! There's nothing like AC Odyssey out there. They get hate for microtransactions and time savers. Sure, I don't agree with those practices. But they never bothered me from enjoying their titles. I never felt like even visiting the store to browse through those things you could spend your pennies on. It's just this mentality of compulsive spending. They are there, sure. But do you have to buy that stuff to enjoy their games? NO! You have a gun, does that mean you can go out and start shooting in the crowd? NO!
@@Alexthelion93 they win you over with the pretty graphics and landscapes. Yes the worlds they make look great but the design of their open worlds are so mundane, their side quests are lazy as hell and most of the world is empty with nothing to do. Take Watch Dogs Legion for example the world looks nice but again its dry and the story is completely forgetful. Underneath all of that facade are scummy and shady practices 24/7, Ubisoft is becoming the new EA year after year. When you pay full price for a game it's full for a reason especially if its single player not "pay us 60 or 80 and we'll lock more than the majority of the content that was supposed to be in it since day one under a pay wall". Yes you aren't forced to pay but they know full well what they are doing. Companies are going to lock more and more content under pay walls the more we allow it to happen. They get loads of profit from it which makes them lazy in creating titles. If you noticed with every single recent Ubi game the structure of them are all the same it's a copy and paste with different genres
@@Alexthelion93 "They get hate for micro transactions and time savers". BRUH! that is the exact reason why everyone dislikes Ubisoft and the video is about. They create the massive open world but they intentionally code the game such that whatever you grind even for months you won't get your desired level. AC odyssey proved to be horrendous!. The world is massive which means more time you can play you can level up more but no, let setup the level bar such that it could take days to gain next level and force them to buy time server and boost pack. Just try reach level 45 in that game without booster and time saver pack, your ass get fried out and you will get burn out. Not to mention that side quests are boring as hell and it will be a huge let down for gamers which will push them such that, instead of getting immersed in the world you either had to cool your fried ass or continue getting burned up for gaining XP. About Prince of persia, they got greedy and tend to release VR version which got flopped even before that shit got released. They purposefully not releasing it because, Ubishit have no other way but to make single player compaign. This will lead them to terminate micro transactions for that game and there will be no cash grab. This is the particular reason they are not releasing POP. Instead they tried POP with multi player with VR but thank God! It failed. Also the Division, Rainbow six siege and other games, yes the world is great and huge and all, but are you satisfied by finishing up the good side quests and some filler contents and leveling up by usual Game mechanics? like witcher 3, GOW 4 rdr2? NOPE! The mechanic itself is obliterated by Ubisoft for cash grab even in Single player game! SINGLE PLAYER GAME?! Microtransactions in SINGLE PLAYER GAME?! I will whole heartedly pirate these type of games and even when I pirate these games i demand refund! Period.
Thanks for including trials, doesn't get a lot of attention but is actually worse than what you mention in the video. You CAN get the acorns in game to buy the scarab, map packs, other bikes etc. but in order to do that you have to either find squirrels or complete contracts. The squirrels are often ridiculously hidden in tracks and the contracts are EXTREMELY difficult but when the community came together and made a guide for people how to get the easiest acorns ubisoft released a patch that made it even harder, true story. Me n my pops have put in about 300 hours on trials (albeit a lot of hours on user tracks) and we still had to pay $30 to get all map packs and bikes after finding all squirrels and not wanting to do the hardest contracts.
@@jackdanila9893 I guess the standards of gaming will continue to fall then. I'm just surprised there are enough players that keep this cycle going, sure they only need 20% of the gaming population to make these work but I'm curious to know why these people support this.

Before they updated Odyssey, I hit max level long before I came close to finishing the game. Ubisoft, like EA, has neglected tons of their amazing franchises in favor of the mediocre cash grabs that are Just Dance and Assasin's Creed. For nearly 8 years, Rayman has been kicked to the curb and laid dormant as a franchise. Not a single Rayman game ever since.
I feel like with Odyssey, they were trying to go for a "Axxess" model, where they wanted players who bought used / rental copies to pay more for the game. Which sorta makes sense since used copies of Odyssey are common. But the reason for that is because people keep selling the game for this very same issue, they don't want to put up with it. Not to mention, people who paid full price didn't get the booster for free.
Funny thing about timesavers in Creed is that you could implement all of the options resources/bonus exp with a simple trainer. Felt good to press F1 knowing each time you pushed that key you slapped money out of a greedy exec's hands.
Another thing about #10 is that when we were allowed to make out own custom missions there were some that were auto completing and would just reward xp to get around the grind. Ubisoft made these levels a bannable offense. So much for "time savers" and player-choice. Only a choice if you have to pay for it.

To tell ya a little more about the Gryphon issue, buying him then was to get to play him early, specifically before he'd be available for in-game currency. On steam you could buy him, play him once as long as you played within an hour after purchase, and then the next time you'd log on, he'd be locked again and trying to play him would just take you to the Uplay store page. This issue, if I remember correctly, took almost 2 weeks to fix, rendering the whole point of buying him early.. Pointless!

Where's all the people who say, "Stop being so entitled!" Or, "you don't have to buy it." Who don't get the point of the issue? It's that companies intentionally remove or split content to make a quick buck. The more people rationalize it the worse it gets. People lost their shit back when Oblivion added $5 horse armor. Now people would happily throw money at that same DLC if it were $15 and justify it.
ok so no dlc are added game content not useless shit that make your horse look fancier or double your xp and no if a horse armor was 15$ in a 60$ game people would not be happy proof is star war battlefronts 2 who ended the lootbox shit because it was what you juste said.
@@VouesolaR There is a difference between large expansion packs that have a lot of content vs being nickle and dimed for little pieces. Lootboxes you pay money for an RNG machine to gamble a chance to get the content you want. That's what people were upset about. That and the ridiculous method of acquiring cards (progression) from them. The other is designing the game to be excessive unless you are willing to throw money out. It's predatory game design and it's becoming all the more popular as more games fall under "live service". People gladly spend $10-15 regularly for simple color palettes and "cosmetics", which is just as useless as the infamous Horse Armor but they justify it. People buy it, and companies prey on that behavior.

I'm not sure what other games did this, but by far the most absurd thing that has happened that absolutely tilted me was when Virtua Fighter 5 crossed over to next gen (from PS3/XBOX360 to PS4/XBOX ONE) and basically all the content and unlockable characters went from earnable, to purely DLC. I used to play Virtua Fighter 5 heavily in 360 days. And loved the idea of grinding the game and unlocking characters through story progression and buying all these cosmetics via in-game currency. I don't play the assassin's Creed games so idk what this is all about. Was it like the old saints row where you had to do side quests to earn XP to do the main quest lines?? Can someone explain it to me or give me cliffnotes??
@@maxbracegirdle9990 I've forgotten nearly everything about this game so bear with me, but I think the issue was that the game not only had a crap ton of quests, but the quests were stretched out to be unnecessarily long with their tasks
They also loved making the player travel from one end of the map to the other
On top of that since the game has a leveling system, unless you found a way to cheese through it, some missions were impossible to do if your level wasn't high enough so you would have to come back later after screwing around and levling up
I remember when one of the older Ghost Recon games got removed from steam merely because it wasn't making Ubisoft money. There was still a huge playerbase for that game, but since it was older and in the same vein of some of their newer games, they just straight up put it down for the sake of moving players to newer games. Idk if it worked, but damn it was scummy, and that was my favorite game at the time.
Edit: it was phantoms.
Why do “premium” games that you buy have micro transactions, you don’t buy the game to pay more money.
Because they don't want some of your money, they want all of them.
just like with consoles and PS plus shit.
Premium means more things to unlock by buying more things.
i think it's because some people buy it so they do it, who would say no to free money. i personally never payed for micro transaction in a payed game
This is why piracy exists and pirates always gets the ultimate editions
yessir, companies like ubisoft don't deserve a penny anymore
Period.
@@Alexthelion93 I hate Ubisoft because they ruined AC franchise

The fact that there's even 10 of these is mind blowing
I never knew I could want a whole company to spontaneously combust as much as I do now.
I'm just... tired. I can't even find the energy to be upset anymore.
I sat back and kicked my feet up for this one lol
You should do a best microtransactions video. I'd be interested to see what would make it....if any
Odessey’s time savers were removed when it was discounted.
“Here’s a list of cash grabs by Ubisoft”
*Lists micro transactions for every Ubisoft game in the last 10 years*
Are they wrong
@@questionfor9502 video should’ve just been called Ubisoft micro- transactions that suck then lmao
@@dyaniscott but.. they're cash grabs. Awful ones, that suck🤦
Falcone turn up the volume on your mic just a bit, I feel like your sound got lower..
Lol. Paying to increase health and Melee damage for 5 minutes. That got me rolling on the floor 🤣
With the next gen - at the time - they decided to scrap that whole concept and instead lock what you WERE able to earn behind a blatant paywall.
Imagine buying things in SP game when you can get it with cheat engine or some other 3rd party software
Because, its illegal
I’m not first
I’m not last
But most importantly
No one asked
Well said
But you still felt the need to say it.
Lol , I comment my view number from time to time idk but someday it will be a trend
they did that "time savers" shit in Valhalla too.. month after release and reviews were out...
i remember that therussianbadger said that in some r6 siege events you get all the cosmetics but only for the duration of the event
