You know you can make a sourdough starter without instant yeast. You just gotta mix equal parts water and flour in a container, cover it, leave it in a warm place for a day, and keep feeding it equal parts water and flour every day until it smells sour and froths. I don’t know if you can use this for other types of bread though.

It’s actually a pretty interesting manner of mindsets, and how conflicting mindsets come into play. Some people are taught they should ask for what they want directly and that it’s rude to beat around the bush; others are taught that it’s rude to ask directly, and thus they get around that by trying to hint and nudge at what they want or need without directly saying it. You could say it’s a matter of direct and indirect action, in a way. When you learn to recognize that, and learn to realize that other people learned differently and neither method is inherently wrong, it makes it so much easier to communicate with others you’re close to :) (I’m naturally indirect, but I’ve learned to recognize when people in my life are more direct and try to respond I’m a manner more communicable for them).
