  • I installed the “2014-2020 Toyota Tundra Crewmax Plastic Rear Under Seat Storage Unit” from www.esptruck.com.
    Here’s how it went!
    I needed to make some minor modifications (cuts) to make the unit fit properly, but once that was done, I’m happy with the purchase and the final outcome! I’ve got some nice storage bins under my seat now!

    Good space for tow straps and jumper cables, so you can pull fords and chevys out of the ditch😃

    For such a big and roomy truck. Toyota should of ALREADY had this put it for the crewmax, just like the doublecab.

    You laid out the template incorrectly. At 41 sec you did it right but you changed it.

    I have a 2014 Tundra and it didn’t have under seat storage like my 2006 did.......I cannot believe for the price of these trucks that they still don’t have it!! I love my Tundra but come on Toyota.....get with the program, these are trucks--> we haul shit!!!

      The crazy part is that my 2008 had space under the seats. No storage cubbies, but plenty of space. Now why would Toyota go backwards and take storage space away is baffling. Not only are you losing space, but you no longer have a flat floor!

    I know you probably have had a few comments about the placement but I will add that it was installed slightly too far rearward. I appreciate the video, I also have a 2020 CM and will be purchasing this very soon. It was great to see what the wire in the center bin position looks like, this will ease my install anxiety for sure. Thanks.

    I appreciate your video A LOT! Just bought a 2020 TRD Pro and the same storage bin. The complications you ran into will keep me from making the same mistake. Obviously the manufacturer changed the template but didn't update the instructions for placement.

    I installed it by tilting the 1/2 moon side in first, not the back side first. I found that loosing the seat track bolts made it much easer to slip in.

    I have a 2017 crew max and ordered the same one and i had to trim like u because they updated the template but not the tray cutouts but ended up liking it better because the tray sits backwards more and tucked in under the seats instead of poping out of under the seats wich I wouldn’t like

    Having to modify a $225 plastic tray is BS

    • @robinstewart6510
      @robinstewart6510 Před 3 lety

      I didn't have to modify the tray. Not sure what we did differently to account for that. By the way, that $225 plastic tray is tough. Mine has held a selection of tools (sockets, wrenches, hammer, etc) for roughly five years without damage.

  • @wiisad
    @wiisad Před 3 lety

    I highly recommend measuring several times and cut it once. Also, it really helps to take the carpet material and place it in the cutout areas where the storage system will sit in to help with noise dampening. Lastly, you want it to fit a little snug to the point where you have to tap it in with your fist. I have a 2018 Tundra and it came out great. I recommend watching the videos that the company has on line as well to help in the installation.

    Commend the company for creating a solution for the Tundras. But if that's how it lines up, they need a redesign. $200 bucks and still have to modify for it to sit flush? Seems like a simple design flaw....

    • @_paulbrian
      @_paulbrian  Před 4 lety +2

      Totally... I think something changed w/ the 2020 Tundra and they didn't modify for it. I would have returned the tray, but I was already committed by the time I realized it didn't line up.

    Mine is farther forward in my 2015 and the template the provided had different alignment points. I’m assuming the realigned it due to the wiring on the 2020 pushing it back. I think they may have messed that template up because you should have to cut the plastic on the tray.
    You did what you had to do and it turned out great regardless. Good job man!
