What? How could anything beat Iron Man? I know it's all opinion based but still.
it's because, in a way, was technically one of the first full blown mechs to appear on the big screen, to the point were it is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about mechs in movies.

What makes the Aliens loader so epic is the backstory. It's basically a wearable forklift, not a battle suit. It's a resourceful short notice, best fit repurposing. Also, it has a gritty, near-future plausibility that the other futuristic fantasy suits lack.
I still don't understand how the Jägers from Pacific Rim are excluded. Sure they're A LOT bigger, but don't they pretty much fit the description at the beginning?

That's a mech. The difference is blurry but generally things this size are considered mechs. A suit is usually mostly hollow for you to fit in and has humanoid proportions, if slightly larger. Mechs are much bigger. Anyways, my take on it.

@@reysanggalang8256 I agree with ticci and Nomad. Otherwise you'd have other mecha giants being controlled by multiple pilots/controllers i.e. MegaZords (Power Rangers) or the aforementioned Jaegers (Pacific Rim).

My favorite continues to be the "Bio-Suit" 7:19 from District 9. The design is so sweet because it's meant to be Alien Technology for use by Prawns. The Entire suit looks like a beefed up, mechanical version of a Prawn. The whole thing looks exceptionally photo realistic because the animators carefully took light readings from the actual locations.
The amp suit from Avatar was designed and created by James Cameron the same James Cameron who designed the power loader from aliens because from what I heard James Cameron took a good reference of the power loader to create the amp suit

Sorry, but what is the criterion for distinguishing between robot suits and giant robot?. In my personal opinion, the Amplified Mobility Platform and APU are sufficiently large to be considered mechs, besides its design is less humanoid and closer to a military vehicle.

Nah, I agree with the choice of the Power Loader: it was the first time any sort of mech suit had been used convincingly in a well done movie. It was a jaw dropper. I was a kid when I saw it in the theater. There was real cheering.

When the Power Loader was revealed in Aliens it was a cinematic milestone. Built as a movable, full-scale prop, it still looks more "real" than so many of the newer CGI/morph fantasies. And what's not to love about a hum-drum work tool suddenly being pulled into duty to save the day?

And this video suggests it's better than an armor that can fly, blast the shit out of anything, survive an atomic bomb, and even combine to other suits like the Hulkbuster to combat a being with regeneration and superstrength. That's not mentioning all the weapons it can have. Aliens can suck Iron Man's iron balls, that forklift doesn't even deserve a mention in this list.
The only point for this top 10 list that makes sense is to piss everyone off by promising an objective view on the 10 best things in a certain category only to deliver their 10 personal favorites. I understand both the point of this video and of mojo's top 10 lists but I also understand that they are still bullshit.

I think it was the size factor; mechs/mecha are vastly different from exo-suits. The Avatar ones certainly count, as do the APUs from Matrix, due to their small size.

eternalypissed not yet but im on the tech program in my school so i could at least create the interface and i have a friend doing industry so there is the suit (we lack electronics) and i got a friend about to start transport so i think we got travel thing down

The arc-gun (which tears apart any lifeform). Magnetic field that keeps any kind of bullets and missiles. Missile launch system. 2 variants of automatic weapon systems (which minigun and small-calliber autocannon). And design. This should be the exact suit for destroying your enemy. The bio-suit from District 9 is the coolest one. It has weaknesses on the back-side (less armored), but using this one - gives you a great advantage in suppressing fire tactics or providing covering fire.
Always remember when watching a watchmojo list: Nostalgia beats everything, even fucking logic.

It is slow because unlike most suits robot in the list, is not a obvious CGI. It was made with mechanical effects , making it more realistic and memorable.

pendraco2000 that still makes it a mecha, mini or not, so your comment that its “mini” really doesnt mean anything. The list said power armor/suits. That means something you wear not something you pilot. You dont wear an AMP you pilot it. So no it shouldn’t count.
watchmojo even said that you pilot the suit for the matrix as well.

An exosuit is not a gigantic machine, which yeagers are, so tgey dont count
And an exo grants the wearer extra abilities, but the yeagers, don't get me wrong I LOVE pacifif rim and the yeagers, don't grant any abilities to the users itself, it is controlled by them.
Jaegers weren't included the same reason Megazords, Gundams, Zoids, EVAs, MechWarriors, Voltron, and Transformers weren't: Exosuits are smaller and more personal to the wearer like a suit. All the aforementioned are gigantic mechs that its user PILOTS as oppose to wears to enhance their own natural abilities. Big difference.
U can't compare them to transformers, just because they're huge doesn't mean they're not exos, the user controls it's movements. and to the guy that said the don't grant any abilities? Are u fucking kidding me? What more abilities could u get out of a exo?

I have a nostalgic attachment to the lift loader suit from Aliens. It's clunky, it's old, it's impractical, but that's why it was so cool. It clunked, whirred and tromped around clumsily, but beat the "bitch" in the end, thanks to its toughness and kick ass pilot.
I also like it because none of it is CGI. It was all practical effects and still holds up almost 30 years later. I'd say it even beats some of the washed out effects of today.
So yeah, I like the loader better than Iron Man's suit. Tony Stark's suit may be that hot new Lamborghini, but the Loader is a classic.
Edit: Just read some of these comments. Man, some people get so sore when their favorite isn't number one. Remember kids - it's fiction - all imaginary!

Ok the alien movie is a classic I will admit that, but lets think about this in terms of what they can do. The power loader is a suit meant for moving boxes and a few other menial tasks its a bipedal forklift essentially. In terms of user protection its completely open to the elements unfortunately the moment the Queen charged Ripley in Alien she could have easily impaled the Queen on accident, acid all over her, movie over. The Iron Man Suit can do everything the Power Loader can do while not being cumbersome or huge or slow. Than there are the other things the Iron Man Suit can do like fly, fire missiles, fire concentrated energy, operate in space with no danger towards the user and I am just talking about the Standard suit. Than there are the suits for infiltration, exploration, fighting on mostly equal grounds with an iconic green guy, a god of thunder, or a world destroying asshole.

This was early to mid 90's but I think I remember a movie with Amanda Bearse from married with children (Darcy) where she was in a giant robot suit fighting. I was young so I could be mistaken. Definitely no movies on imdb with her in a big robot suit
Aren't Jaeger's suits are just bigger robot suits piloted by a human? Don't see why they couldn't be included. And Powerloader is great and all, but its still a glorified forklift for industrial usage. How did it managed to beat other combat suits like Iron Man, Avatar's AMP, Combat Jackets?

You guys forgot about the guyver suit in Guyver and Guyver 2 Dark Hero. that suit was much cooler than a lot of the other suits on this list.
The Jaegers in pacific rim are the same as the mech suits this review included only bigger and they would kick ass on all the other picks in this review ...COMBINED!
+Meta Patriot I think Iron man would beat the jagers based on the fact that they aren´t agile enough to hit him. Sure he wouldn´t do enough damage to take down a Jäger imediately, but he has enough arsenal to render one leg inoperative, making the Jäger immobile and pretty much useless.
Iron man could defeat any suit on this list easily, especially the jaegars cuz he's a lot faster and more advanced.

I still look at Iron Man Suit as the best kind, fully built in Exo SKeleton, weaponry, full scale holographic HUD, Arc Reactor built in, Missile systems, flare system, minigun system, basically every kind of system in one suit, you cant ask for more

NONE of these are "robot suits"! They are either powered armour or exoskeletons. Robot suits properly are those you out-of-hand rejected in the first sentence. The only thing that would qualify as a robot suit in Iron Man would be the Hulkbuster from Age of Ultron, and that's worn OVER his regular powered armour. Yes sir, that is exactly what i thought when i saw the video. There are mostly power armors, not roibot suits. A robot "suit" would be like a tank where the pilot sits in a cockpit. Power armor si the one that you wear like a costume...
Anyway, as a "power armor" video, it is pretty good. Still they are mission Captain Power from that 80s tv show...

The District 9 was the best as it was Robotic and could operate alone or with a Person. Its movement and weaponry were believable too.

I would go for the Cyber Suit from Star Kid. I watched this movie when I was little. It was cool and fun. I would choose the Cyber Suit, because I prefer it for fun and safety. The suit has a cool and innocent feel. It reminds of the amor suit from Metroid and Mega Man.

and to anyone else who nots that they are the same the MJOLNIR class ARMOR is not a mech suit, as a mech suit is an external giant mechanized robot that you are able to envelope yourself inside and control, there is a massive difference between battle armor and a mech suit

Hey! They forgot to mention the 1990 movie "ROBOT JOX".
Though its NOT A ROBOT SUIT, but its like giant robots being piloted and are comparable to Pacific Rim's giant robots.
They are weaponized with guns, rockets, lasers, etc. The robots can fly as well.
They fight in an arena just like in "Real Steel" but WAY MUCH BIGGER.

I like the Elysium exo-suit the most b/c it's the most realistic IMHO. Powerlifter, as great as the scene is, wouldn't be on my list at all since it's more of a vehicle to me rather than a suit.
On a side note: What about RoboCop and, more importantly, Robocain?
