*The world is ending*
News reporter: Oh shit the Hollywood sign got destroyed!
TheCreeperGuy777 lol
Oh
shit im scared
Here's a new list idea for you: Top 10 times the Statue of Liberty has been destroyed in movies!
LoL
Poor liberty xD
or the Golden Gate Bridge
You maniacs, you blew it up. Damn you! Damn you all to hell!
So u to FurryAminal
so that's why there's "New" in New York. they have to rebuild everything... everytime
Omg that was brilliant!
Bro that was good!👍🤣👍🤣👍🤣
It also includes New Hampshire and New Mexico
I know it was a joke (and it was a good one😂), but it’s actually called New York because it’s named after the city York in England. This is also the reason why it was first called New Amsterdam, because the city was built by a Dutch colony
Bob S Lee interesting fact
Everyone: *Runing for there life*
Little girl: My house 9:22
OUR House
"Casino ad plays"
Correction: Lilly says "My hats". Don't believe me watch the movie with subtitles.
@@mc-ate-bit3814 comrade
Why do people run when they should know just by looking they don't have a chance in hell 😂😂😂. Would I run, no.
Aliens don't destroy the Earth, they just destroy America
For a good reason
This Is Nemesis Damn you are good
That or Hong Kong
Depends on the type of alien...Tentacle aliens would likely go to Japan instead of US...
That is true because It seems like every time aliens only land in America and not in around the world

it would be cool if there was a top 10 Rihanna song someday:)
tattooshark44 they are all the same. blah blah blah gameplay blah blah. dont forget to like comment and subscribe.
WatchMojo, you forgot no less than "The War of the Worlds"… Just sayin'.
I think San Andreas was spectacular
It wasn't out when this list was made.
I know but still
That's was an amazing movie
Yeah it was a good game
Well I’m assuming you aren’t talking about GTA..
YES, INDEPENDENCE DAY One of my favorite old movies eva!
and they're making a sequel for it
ID 4?
+The Fullmetal Alchemist 2
+The Fullmetal Alchemist independence day resurgence
oh well, im not going to watch it, it is just going to be a crappy sequel... I will always stick with the original.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day. That scene gave me nightmares when I was a child.
i agree but too short of a scene to be here
You ain't kidding man. Saw that movie when I was 10 and had many sleepless nights because of the scene alone.
i watched 2012 when i was frigging 6! nightmares all day everything that looked like meteors scared the hell out of me i stoped going to beaches that fucked me up
Alex Doge A little uncalled for don't you think?
hunterkiller1440 yes that is true
Mars attacks. I remember that movie. So funny.
FunnyPain ikr
I remember the solution at the end was a rip off from "Attack of the killer tomatoes." Which also had the same goal of being a cheesy nod to the 50's movies.
#8:Hong Kong the Pacific rim I did watch the movie trust me it was cool and pretty epic
and also the#2 los Angeles :2012
and the independence day also:)
But seriously i did watch these 3 movies believe me or not it's up to you guys
It's funny those are the same movies I watched from this list 😂😂😂
You must thank japan, pacific rim is inspired by neo genesis evangelion
Star Trek - ship destroys half the city..
..and then a chase insues which leads to even mode destruction..
* Khan brakes a glass door *
Hey! Glass isn't cheap, ya' know!
55urmom I mean just the other day I broke a window in my car and decided that I might as well get a new car.
Watch any "Die Hard" film, usually Bruce Willis and his partner cause as much if not more destruction than the big bad of the film. A smart mastermind in that universe would simply cause the appearance of an evil plan and then just sit back and allow Bruce to do the rest....
The most scariest one is when barak obama took over the whole united states and its still going on very destructive
mauricio cortez Im still personally waiting for the conservative apocalypse to reach my door. Ive been living off rations for 5 years because, according to them, everything is on fire, the communists have taken over and america was invaded by Saudi Arabia. Im hoping that there are still some survivors out there to read this message.
Mine would be
1. 2012
2. Man Of Steel
3. Pacific Rim
4. The Avengers
5. Godzilla 2014
6. Transformers: Dark Of The Moon
7. Independence Day
independdance day tops 2012 in every way,far more epic, better looking,no dumb idiotwho unrealisticly survives everything.
Oh come on now Bruh
Kal 'EL its your opinion, but i think it should b more like
1.independance day
2.man of steel
3.Pacific rim
4.Godzilla 2014
5.Avengers
6.Transformers
....
.....20-30:2012(seriously there are like a hundret movies that have better city destructions.i could put about 12 godzilla movies in here
still your opinion :D
Yeah true. But I loved Man Of Steel's city destruction. It could have had a lot more but if it had a lot more it would have got more hate
The most scariest one is when barak obama took over the whole united states and its still going on very destructive
"Do not drive your vehicles when King Ghidorah is in your area." tee-hee
8:47 why are people driving towards the tornadoes lmao
Ji trumpeter
For the news
Everyone knows that tornadoes are afraid of you more than you are afraid of them.
Because the people live in California and are dumb when it comes to tornadoes because they only have earthquakes.
Storm chasers
No Detroit? Oh wait that wasn't a movie.
Am I the only one who watches movies just for the city destruction?
No
I hope so.
Nope. It's was the best movie for that evar.
Lol ok
CGI in Pacific Rim was wonderful. The huge amounts of disintegrating glass from the buildings was very convincing.
new york: enormous creatures, dramatic weather, and coronavirus.
And Cuomo... don't forget that douche bag.
No surprise Roland Emmerich takes the top 3 spots with his best 3 films. He's literally the master of disaster.
Always NY, you americans seem to hate that city too much
I know poor lady liberty. She can't even move! RESPECT HER PLEASE GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Luckily Godzilla realized that San Andreas was right and attacked San Francisco in 2014.
It's because it's a big city.
haven't you every broken a birthday present?
?
2012 LA scene is simply the best ever - the detail was incredible. If all they did was read the phone book after that scene it would still be an amazing movie. Independence Day was building explosions and lots of fire.
Amen. 2012 is one of the best disaster movies ever and the excellent CGI still holds up today.
2:30
Thought that was Stan Lee in the cop-suit!
Me too
> Godzilla
> "The effects are *low budget*..."
_Excuse_ you? Godzilla had an estimated budget of about $5 million, which was *crazy* for the time. All they had back then were practical effects--they didn't have the ease of computers to generate everything for them (like all the other movies on this list). Just because it doesn't have CGI doesn't mean it's low budget. It's the only movie from before 1996 in this entire list, too. For the time, those effects were phenomenal, and still hold up very well even to this day.
Please stop spouting ignorant shit like this so I can like your videos more.
the whole thing is just peoples opinions anyway, chill dude
i think its time for you to calm down and learn about opinions
Every single one of these is pure opinion. Not everyone agrees with yours, so relax and accept it, or else the world is gonna be a rough place for you.
I will admit though, IMO, godzilla should have been number one. Not only for doing it first, but spawning a franchise famous for destroying cities to the preset day and beyond.
I well its hardly a opinion if the movie was 5 millions dollars is the only movie before 1996 and movies then using props heavily back then. Only the last bit. Other than that I believe the message of the movie was more than just having *charming effects* but actually giving life to the atomic bomb incident with inspiration of Hollywood movie monsters, and demonstrating the horrors of practice of bombs on civilians.
yagrU Factual errors are not a matter of opinion.
ian Schweinsteiger Actually, they make a good number of ignorant statements like these here and there (unfortunately).
Seems like whenever there is a disaster movie 90 percent of the time it is either Los Angeles, San Francisco or New York. How about we switch up a bit and try something like Houston, Philadelphia or Orlando.
BifordusMaximus Only reason that those 3 cities are chosen is because of the fame they have & how big they really are orlando philly & houston are no were near in the size they are.
What about european countries
+BifordusMaximus I think most of the time New York and Los Angeles is used because they are the top cities where there is more action and are considered sin cities. Everyone always usually wants to move to either New York or Los Angeles for their career move. Many people think that's why New Orleans had Katrina a few years ago....because of Mardi Gras (sin city) and a message was sent.
+Louisetyne Canque screw European countries. Paris got blown up in Armageddon. Can we please, for once, destroy something in Canada (where a lot of those movies are filmed, ironically)
+BifordusMaximus Well, those are not worldwide famous cities, I bet there's a lot of people that doesn't even know about the existence of Orlando or Houston.
I cried when transformers dotm was just an honourable mention😭
Man of Steel better be on here
Nvm it popped up as soon as I typed it.
kj walton I hated that scene
How is Sarah Connor's nightmare scene from "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" not on this list??
I know it's only a dream sequence, but damn... that scene has been described by many as the most accurate depiction of a nuclear attack on a city. And to know that those attacks were happening all over the world, in order for the machines to take over, no less.
I just imagine all the people in the rural South watching the news going "Well that sucks... pass the sweet tea."
What about :
Hong Kong - Transformers Age Of Extinction,
Slovakia - Avengers Age Of Ultron
4:59 "Because the footage is shaky and *REAL."*
So New York City got destroyed by a monster irl?
*SEEMS LEGIT.*
Wait didn’t they also built a laser because of our planet was dying?
Lol the camera man survived
@@toiletgamer1248 half way through the movie tho
Am I the only one that loves Cloverfield?
No. I think it's awesome aswell.
no like it
The hot girl explodes... is sad.
I dont like it
I loved Cloverfield you know that alien was a baby!!
I think pacific rim should be higher up the list
You forgot the terminator 2 city scene. Definitely the best one gave me chills watching it.
San Andreas, Godzilla(2014), Godzilla: king of monsters....
The destruction in Man of Steel was far more impressive then alot of the shit on this list. Not to forget it had the best visuals.
Wait until Godzilla 2014's city destruction
It still wont be able to top the original 1954 version
Mouthofthe$outh
yeah whats better 1954 film or modern cgi....hmmmm
i'm not saying it's gonna be better than the original i i meant to say is the city's destruction is gonna be extremely insane
Adirondack13 1954, obviously. If you really knew what Godzilla represented and watched city destruction scene and the aftermath, you would see which is better. The CGI is just for effect. The tone from the original is why it is so iconic than any other Godzilla destruction from any other movie
Mouthofthe$outh you can't be serious. Not all originals are better at everything. Of course modern technology will make the new one more spectacular and entertaining to watch...
Pacific rim: Hong Kong being destroyed by a monster. Meanwhile in Hong Kong in real life: citizens are destroying their city..🤣
*their*
*this post was made by the chinese communist government”
I love pacific rim
Somehow I knew Independence Day would be at the top. Good pick, WatchMojo.
I would also put the destruction of London in G.I Joe:Retaliation. That scene is really impressive.
Now I suppose San Andreas would definitely be part of this list
I'm a gonna guess Independence Day wins...
Oh shit I guessed it lol
Yeah
heh heh i love how like 70% of those were in New York or America! I feel safe in England! :D
Lol
EPIC corp Productions lol
should give gi joe retaliation a little watch then.....
they should have done london from G.I. Joe retaliation.
Vincent Yu Big Ben destroyed by alien ship, giant christmas star, giant sycorax ship, titanic replica nearly crashed into buckingham palace, zygon invasion nearly commences, destroyed by titanic in an alternate timeline, seems like the safest place in the world
Nerd point - in Star Trek Into Darkness, the warship wasn't "accidentally" crashed into San Francisco. Khan set the ships co-ordinates to crash into Star Fleet Headquarters on purpose. You even played that clip second previously.
In the movie the destination was the Star Fleet Headquarters but something went wrong with the ship (forgot) and hit SF instead
awesomeguy12100
Yea... the computer said something about maybe not reaching the destination, but its still not an accident.
awesomeguy12100 Where is Star Fleet Headquarters? In San Francisco.
And the computer said the engines were compromised and it could not guarantee the destination
I wonder who pays for the destruction
USA
uh, Nationwide is on your side ??
I don't care who pays for the destruction I wonder who has clean up 🙄🌪️😂😂😂
2012 isn’t CGI done right.
It’s the best disaster movie I have ever seen.
I'm surprised war of the worlds didn't even get an honorable mention.
Which one? Even the original has some city destruction scenes which are still not bad considering the space ships are on strings
It's a shame this came out before Godzilla 2014... That would have been my number 1
Max Ramsay exactly what i was thinking
Ricardo Castillo Same here
Same here man that film is awesome
I know right and I LOVE Godzilla it's sad that they left it out
"This time, the aliens are sending a little message."
Destroys Empire State Building
that part actually made me crack.
I own Pacific Rim on DVD and have watched it beginning to end about 7 times. I absolutely love the movie. To whatever company (ies) decided to make the second one have Guillermo del Toro do it. They made the first one so awesome.
The nuclear attack in Terminator 2 was definitely noteworthy.
2 Things:
1 why is it always NYC that always get's picked on?
2 Why is the Transformers film called 'Dark of the Moon'? why not Dark SIDE of the Moon'
i'll answer 2): its called the dark of the moon signify both 'dark side of the moon' and 'dark secret of the moon' and maybe also the fact that everyone, even autobots, were kept in dark about what they found up there
Kaustubh Veer
Totaly agree with you, and Dark SIDE of the moon sounds really long and bad lol.
1) because NYC is one of the piece of lands with the most amount of buildings tallest in height and tightest in range, as well as the amount of people in it per square feet (during the day).
Also, NYC is one of the most visited cities in the world. so in terms of familiarity and maximum damage. It is the best to destroy NYC
Sadly to say, it is also the same reason why NYC gets hit in real life as well
anthony shieh ouch.
Do a search, Dark side of the moon is a movie already.
I saw transformers dark of the moon when I was 11, i'm 17 now and everytime I see the cons destroying chicago I get goosebumps. The music, lighting...it's terrifying.
I just knew Indenpendence Day took the price. Wouldn't have it any other way :D
Well it looks much better because instead of CGI its a model city being destroyed by real explosives (with some CGI obviously) but practical effects always look better, for example Animatronic dinosaurs in original Jurassic park look better than Jurassic world graphics.
Nothing on this list compares to the ultimate scenes of City destruction as the scenes from the Power Rangers fighting the beasts. Power Rangers alone bring 3x more destruction to the City than any enemy was ever able to do.
Sum of all Fears should have been there, a whole city was nuked, but guess there is too much love for aliens
My favorite city destruction scene is either the destruction of Chicago in Transformers 3, Destruction of New York in Cloverfield, The scenes in War of The Worlds and Destruction of Harlem in The Incredible Hulk
i love deep impact because it's so real
Why is it almost always New York?
Why it is allways USA
+Kevlar cause the actors and the director are americans
i know right can they. put the scene anywhere else or something not always N.Y
cuz we make the movies...
I guess it's a more easier recognizable city
Well this was uploaded on my birthday so I can say that I was born to destroy cities
And i can say, no
A volcano in japan erupted on my birthday, doesn't mean i go round like a total idiot saying, "I was born to make things erupt"
YoMama_LuvsMe man does my comment hurt your feelings???
YoMama_LuvsMe
Number 1 he's not serious--Jose doesn't ACTUALLY believe a video controls his destiny, dimwit. Number 2, your cussing and vulgar comments are completely unnecessary. He said nothing hostile or insulting to you, so why don't you stop being a jerk. Number 3, you're the one who looks like an idiot in this conversation.
Jace Roberts thank you for being a nice and smart guy... in internet is hard to find this type of people, many just hate and hate and hate aaand... are just stupid
Cool list. Need to do a Top 20 though.
Why is Chicago on transformers dark of the moon a honerable mention
Yeah almost whole Chicago is destroyed
Yeah, it deserves a spot
That was freakin scary when i saw it as a kid(and the plot made it even more scarier, thinking Autobots are dead)
@@freakingamerspoint7424 Dude I saw it when I was 4 and still not scary
When I saw the decepticons shooting the Citizens of Chicago to thin air I was scared of that CGI effect.
what about Knowing... that destruction gave me goosebumps >.>
Maybe they are going to do a world destruction list
I don't know who comes up with these lists or how they judge their ranking but these are my 10 favorites;
1.) Terminator 2 Judgement day - Nuclear firestorm playground dream sequence
2.) 28 Weeks Later - Isle of Dogs firebombing
3.) G.I.JOE Retaliation - Zeus satellite orbital kinetic strike on London
4.) Day the Earth stood still(Remake) - Alien nano machine swarm consumes Manhattan
5.) The Sum of all Fears - Dirty bomb takes out Baltimore
6.) Avatar - Artillery strike on Na'vi home lands
7.) Battleship - Alien counter strike on Kane'Ohe Bay Hawaii
8.) Pearl Harbor - Japanese air strike on Pearl Harbor
9.) Skyline - Alien mother ship gets nuked over Los Angeles
10.) League of Extra-ordinary Gentlemen - Venice city collapse
and a special mention for Star Wars Episode IV - Death Star destruction of Alderaan(Not a city, but c'mon, its an entire planet)
I don't agree with most of your picks- the exceptions being London from "LoEG", and the Na'vi tree (because from the Na'vi's perspective it is a city, so an argument could be made there though I would not be the one to lead it).
yeah fair enough
did it have to be in a movie or can it be in real life?
Just movie mayhem for this one.
wildevil Independence day had to be #1, becouse it's one of the biggest movie explosions ever made.
Oh my god. I’ve never seen a pre 2019 WatchMojo video. What a difference.
No hate here. Huge fan.
The earth will say"What a load of fucking movies "
I'm sick of everybody complaining about the destruction in Man of Steel. Superman is the guy who can move planets, OF COURSE things are going to get destroyed when he goes up against someone of equal power.
I seriously thought "2012" scenes were more destructive then Independence Day. Also "Deep Impact" messed me up as a kid. Transformers 3 and War Of The Worlds had similar destruction toward humans.
We Want a part 2!!! And in it I want to see Shin Godzilla Decimating tokyo.
You know you're getting old when you see all that destruction and all those cool explosions, and your first thought is, "Now, who's going to clean that up?"
Movie: "Armageddon", scene: the destruction of Paris fits well on this list.
Actually all the meteor strikes in that movie fits well on this list. Paris, New York, and a city in Asia (sorry I couldn't remember which one it was) all get pretty well destroyed. But I guess you could count Armageddon as Deep Impact, seeing the only major difference in the two movies is Armageddons mission is a success.
Amen to Paris in Armageddon!
Is that the scene at the start of the video? Sadly i've never seen armageddon.
andy tenmen Could be, they destroy Paris only once in that movie ;)
Armageddon is a French prophesy from the 1800's, if I remember correctly
dang there's a lot of settings in new York. They might as well just put 9/11 in.
DUDE😂😂
+NiiZe AvALanCHe how does that deserve the crying laughing emoji, 0.5/10
+Kimg Gaming it's a joke,can't you take one?
Is it bad that I burst out laughing at this?
+Brandon Perez I can take a joke, yours was neither original nor funny
Can’t believe it’s been 5 years since 2014, time is flyin
You leveled my city!
Roland Emmerich and Michael Bay both have very sticky computer screens after watching this video.
My fave is godzilla 2014
I agree with that
Same
Same
Won't be going to Hawaii anytime soon...
Agreed, it was short but haunting. That music and sound effects...
GREAT list! and by the way, the earthquake in los angeles is of a 10.6 magnitude earthquake
You forgot to mention Los Angeles in "Day after tomorrow" - but you did show it. The City devastated by tornados was not New York
all the movies on this list are going to move 1 step backwards on the list as soon as the new godzilla movie comes out. sorry indipendance day :P
fuck yes godzilla 2014 is my life
Fuck yeah!
just realised the 2nd trailer even had a shot of a damaged lady liberty haha
What about L.A. in Terminator 2?
You know, Sarah's dream, the bomb and everything.
I agree with the destruction of Washington D.c. being at number one from the mid 1990s classic Independence Day.
That movie is one of my all time favorite movies throughout my life and possibly my favorite movie that had aliens out there. Such a real amazing classic.
Do you like Pacific rim
The apocalypse really hates New York
Not even an honorable mention for Seattle in 10.5
cuz tv movie
If they redo this, the laser scene from Shin Godzilla should be number 1
Cloverfield was badass! It had a super cool monster, good acting, and excellent CGI. If it wasn't filmed in shaky-cam POV it would have received much better reviews. Still one of my faves to this day.
The little battery in the camcorder was the real star of the movie.
lol San fran in the new Godzilla though
oh my god yes :D
fuck yes
***** I don't know... there are a couple movies where entire planets got blown up. Remember the Death Star anyone?
*****
It's really only downtown that gets trashed.
Mars Attacks! One of the most underrated movies ever.
They need to make an updated version of this. Independence Day Resurgence had some great ones.
any movie director:needs a city to destroy
new york: *chuckles* im in danger
Damn it New York! Get your shit together!
As the same with Lady Liberty.
new york and the statue of liberty should have a top ten on its own
***** you bastards
I LOVE YOUR Videos
Godzilla is a professional. Even bring his own french horn band
Yep
Pacific Rim...my favorite movie of 2013.
Let me emphasize: " *my* favorite movie of 2013."
Although it's not a movie, the destruction of London in Mass Effect 3 was pretty awsome :)
One of my favorites is Independence Day resurgence. When they arrive over Singapore.
Sam Andreas And Las Angeles in The Day After Tomorrow
