  • The Zimbabwean national football team under the tutelage of Reinhard Fabisch between 1992 and 1995 was dubbed the “Dream Team”.It was so good that it feared no one.A series of impressive results both in the 1994 African Cup of Nations and 1994 World Cup qualifiers had put them virtually on the brink of a monumental football achievement for a country that had never before qualified for both showpieces. They have two winner take all matches against Zambia(to qualify for the 1994 African Cup of Nations) and Cameroon (to qualify for the 1994 World Cup). Only outright wins would guarantee Zimbabwe’s safe passage. The nation was hoping and they had good reasons to.This team had been good thus far. However amidst all the euphoria backed by hope ,hearts were broken.A 1-1 draw against Zambia in Harare and a 1-3 loss to Cameroon in Yaounde ended the dream. So near ,yet so far!!

Zimbabwe, Mali, Zambia, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea and Libya are the most important african teams which haven't been participated yet at WC

@@komodododo7961 i didn't say they were close to win. I mentioned their overall statistics at ACN or WC qualification,... Participations (qualifications) and so on. If one considers african national football teams which havent yet qualified for a WC, these are the most relevant. Whats your point, you have one team that is more relevant than those? Or just want to quarrell?

I remember the Egypt game. They had to cancel the game, due to violence.
    Dream team, won both matches.
Made, me both proud and scared, to walk the streets of Cairo.
That's the same time the Zambian team crashed. Such a shame

Zimbabwe won the 1st leg in Harare but controversially lost the 2nd leg in Cairo. The game was then replayed in Lyon, France. We drew 0-0.

I repeat, please take note and edit the spelling footage. I understand the audio. If a deaf man who can read or an American who doesn't understand the African accent reads that footage, he would be misled by the errors in expression which would be a disservice to the good content of the documentary.

Not true at all, stop spreading false history, there were two main tribes at war with the British South Africa Company (BAPTIST), where ZIPRA was the military wing for the Matebele tribe, whereas ZANLA was the military wing for the majority Shona people. Robert is the only leader to manage the amalgamation of both liberation parties into a singular and synonymous revolutionary body of modern-day ZANU-PF. Literally, the creation of what is China today

@tindotings7892 I'm glad you think that the Ghukurandi massacres were an okay way to unite the parties. Nkomo was thrown into jail, and numerous senior ZIPRA commanders were killed. Get your facts straight and stop reading the ZANU PF history books, who will only tell you what they want you to hear.
