I think the ford model A is the best car ever built in the history of automotive production! Minus the safety problems, everything about them is just so well made and reliable. My grandfather had an original unrestored 4 door A, it never ran in his possession but was a great candidate for restoration because it was all there and not very rusty. I wish I knew where it was today. all the wood on the interior was so cool to look at because the material was deteriorating but it was still in fair shape. It was the first A I had seen in person to really grasp how well made and simple they were. that was around 2003 when I seen the car.
The car in this video"the last Model A" was owned by the Coulter Brothers in the early 1960s The brothers lived in and owned a wholesale florist business in Maryville Tennessee. They had about a dozen restored A models including the one this video. I saw this car in about 1963 at a car show in the Knoxville Tn.area. The story was that the Ford museum was trying to reacquire it. A few years later I heard that the museum had finally been able to acquired the car and put it on display at the Greenfield museum in Dearborn. It is an interesting piece of history and is where it needs to be.

@@AModelA This car was in the personal collection of Roy Frost of Pell city Alabama. I have personally seen it several years ago. He passed away in 2016, to my knowledge his children still have the car.

About 10-15 years ago a friend bought a Model A body from Ford. It was at their proving grounds in Arizona. They had found it on the property and moved it to hiking path/lunch area they had made for the employees. When they sold the facility he asked to buy it. He has a Ford Motor Company receipt for 1 Model A body undoubtedly the last "A" sold by Ford. He used it for yard art in NV and then gave it to a friend in OK.

Sadly, I have inherited my
Dad's 29 A,
After doing a bit of research, it turns out that the built by Briggs body, was not just your average four door,
But a taxi body !
If it could only talk the stories it might be able to tell us !
The firewall is actually the factory original color of a olive drab,
I am going to follow through on that color, and do a triple tone of,
two shades of green, with the common black running boards, and straw yellow wheels, and matching pin-stripe at the belt-line !
I have seen a number of A's done in that combination, and I fell in-love with the look !
Would be interested in a possible storyline on taxi cab bodies of the era !

Stories like this always make me wonder what parts are squirreled away at these automakers. Years back , I remember reading about some folks that had bought the surplus DeLorean parts. They were refurbishing models and building some “new” ones. I wonder what Ford, GM, & FCA could build from spare parts?

I have seen old photos of trucks built in Australia and marketed in Australia in 1932 with a factory two and a half ton carrying capacity. These photos show, cast iron spoke hubs with demountable steel rims, duel rear tyres, and 1928...29 cab cowling and hood and radiator and fenders. I have also read in old truck magazines that the Ford trucks in the US only two ton rating up until 1934_35. I am only stating what I have read and I am not trying to start an argument 😊
Extremely informative. I wonder how many late Model A’ received 1932 Model B 4 cylinder engines? As Model A late productions came down the line, the new Model B where on the opposite line.
Thanks for watching. There were still plenty of A engines sitting around in Ford warehouses in late '31 and early '32 so it's highly unlikely that B engines wound up in an A. However, we have seen photos of AA's built in early '32 that have a Model B radiator shell, headlights, and horn!

A better question would be “When had Ford made the last production run Ford Model A (1928-1931)?” This undertaking actually began in December 1927, whilst assembly line workers completed of existing parts thousands more through to March 1032.
Good stuff. A close friend restored a '31 Deluxe Delivery and eventually came to the conclusion that it was actually built in 1932. This video confirms he may well have been right.
That would be cool to see. The books by Steve Plucker would show you how many deluxe deliveries were assembled at each plant in 1932.

I like the Phaeton, that Edison received later in 1928. What happened to the original Tudor body?
Was Edison's Model A, the first one in Florida???
Edison's phaeton was assembled in May or June of '28. The chassis and body all date to that time period. There is at least one photo of Edison with a Model A Phaeton in Florida in 1929 but it is not the Phaeton that survives today. It isn't confirmed but it is believed that Edison's Phaeton was kept in New Jersey until it was donated by his widow to the Henry Ford. The Tudor has been lost to history.
Edison's early '28 Phaeton is currently on loan at the Model Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan.
If only cars today looked like model A ford instead of uninspiring toasters or microwaves

Where is the fuel tank on the last one?
Good question. The filler neck was on rear driver's side so most likely it was underneath the rear of the car and used a fuel pump to get gas up to the engine.
Makes you wonder if they put a B engine in it for the pump along with the benefit of the balanced crank shaft.
I called our local Ford Dealership and said I was interested in buying a Ford Double A, could they send me a sales brochure or could I take a test drive, and the guy on the other side had no idea what I was talking about.

The AA is the name of the larger 1.5 ton Ford trucks built during the Model A era. The Model A was on a 103 inch chassis, the AA's were 131 inch and starting in 1930 they also offered a 157 inch truck chassis. Check out www.aafords.com for more info. Thanks for watching!

What's laughable about the model t is Henry Ford wanted a million of them built but they could sell them people were tired of them, they were actually dumping brand new ones in off the New York harbor.
