Growing up as the youngest of 14, Brian discovered his passion for skating at the age of 10. However, his encounter with alcohol began at the tender age of 15.
In this episode, Brian reflects on his relationship with alcohol, what attracted him to drinking, tour life, and the skateboarding community in the late 80s and early 90s.
Brian opens up about his sexuality and what it was like coming out as gay in the skateboard community. Gain insight into the pivotal moments when he discovered his drinking was too much and how he ultimately detoxed from his alcohol addiction.

Brian is such a G. He was a huge inspiration for me to stop drinking because I saw myself in so much of his story and the ways he drank. I’ve always been a fan, but when I heard he quit, I was struggling pretty hard… and all I remember thinking was “Damn… that’s fucking badass. I wish I could be like that.”
Rolling up on 17 months now. Thank you, Brian. Life is fucking beautiful on this side of it all.
