- Odessa is Ukraine's third largest city and a bit off the beaten path as far as travel in Europe goes. And what a shame... BECAUSE IT HAS SO MUCH TO OFFER. Coming from the west, Ukraine is already insanely budget friendly in comparison to its counterparts, but it also has so much beauty and heart that I really urge everyone to give it a visit and see for themselves. Odessa has amazing beaches, beautiful architecture, a thriving nightlife and of course INCREDIBLE FOOD. This is a vlog of my first day of exploring. Stay tuned next week for how I travel Odessa under $30 a day!

When I retired and being somewhat fluent in Russian, I decided to volunteer in Odesa. Stayed 8 years, returning to the US last year. Still consider Odesa my second home.
I know how you feel. Love at first sight, back 7 times. Just celebrated my 50th birthday there with my Odessa crew.
My girlfriend was born in Odessa, and came to america 10 years ago. She is now a citizen of the USA. But we are going there this october, for a month. So excited!
Moving to Odessa next week and this was a great video to watch in advance! Looking forward to moving even more now!
Have fun!
It's such a beautiful day too 🍎
I was born in Odessa and haven’t been back there in around 17 years! Watching this makes me excited about going back there this September!
You are going to have a spectacular time!

hello from Ukraine ♥️ Glad you liked us 😊
Never been to Odessa but was in Kiev...
My favorite thing about Ukraine was simply just how hospitable and genuinely nice / friendly people were. Americans are polite on the outside but Ukrainians were nice & lovely people with a big heart on the inside.
Will go back some time and Odessa will be on the list for sure..
I recognize some areas from my trip to Odessa. Nice city.
What a wonderful world of Odessa and the host of this video. Wishing you of more success. Thanks
Thank you Alina. Great job.
What a wonderful video, i didnt want it to end! Glad to see that you are going to do another video about Odessa:)
Alina.
I have heard that Ukraine has a long history and tradition.
Thank you for showing me the attention to detail.
The city is so old and beautiful.
You're so beautfiul Alina. Really loved the travel vlog
Thanks for the video, I'm from Odesa and this is making my mood better.
Would love to go, just looks magical
Awesome Video, and Place😘😘!
Hello Alina ..i liked your video very much ,and yes your right odesa is a great city..some great buildings, cafes, restraunts and lovely beaches..i was there in 2013 and i loved it..i plan to revisit again in a couple of months from now so i hope the weather is kind ..the opers was a wonderful experience for me also..and i loved the aqua park too,..x
My all time favourite city. Beautiful architecture, friendly people and I felt safe as a lone traveller. Plus for a cat lover heaven!! Indeed would love to live there
My experience in Ukraine was very rewarding in September 2018! Thank you for making a great video of your experiences!
That's awesome! And thank you
The first time I visited Odessa was in 2013, since then the city seems to have changed a lot. The restaurant scene has really taken off the last couple years and the city doesn't have as much of the gangster feel it had in 2013. I agree with you about that restaurant, had lunch there back in August and the food was both good and the price was very reasonable.
Both of my great grandpas on my dad’s were born in Odessa. It would be cool to go there one day.
I just set my Reminder! C Ya 2morrow!😘😘
Wow love Odessa ! And her !
Excellent video !!! Flying there this Tuesday!!!
Great country - one of my favourites - I’ve posted a lot of videos on Ukraine on my channel - really liked yours
And love your vlogs❤
Walking down and up those stairs are much healthy for you than taking the Tram. The food presentation was excellent. I always enjoy seeing your drone footage and the music accompanying them. Yes, one day I have to visit both Kiev and Odessa cities in Urkraine . 😁
I’m glad you liked it and hope you get to visit sometime soon!
I was in Odessa with my ex gf, lovely city and lots of beautiful memories, we rented an apartment from a Babushka we met at train station, It was cheaper 9 years ago and it was really nice one.
Indeed I really loved Odessa and your vlog gave me a good inspiration on my trip (even ending up with my Vlog on Odessa as well) - thanks a ton!
I'm so glad :) Have fun!
Great vlog!
I was there September 2018 and January 2019, and am going back in July.
God morning sister Alina God bless you all ways thanks to shering this video
Hello Alina!!! Any time you have something about your home country, whether you are speaking the language or visiting... I tune in to listen. I love it
Aw thank you!
Happy Holidays from Texas !!
i'm impressed video is very nice i love Odessa and i hope some day visit it
Amazing video!!! Thanks a lot!!!
Now that is dollar power! It is called corn on the cob. I really enjoyed this video.
It's beautiful.
Thank you for the nice video, it brought back many fond memories. Odessa was the first Ukraine city I visited in 2001, since then I had been back many times. I stayed mostly in hotels on Deribasbaskaya so a little on the expensive side. Some of the most memorable were the beaches (I swam in the Black Sea too), night clubs on the beach that opened til 6 AM, the wax museum next to the Opera House, and the most memorable were two military men with machine guns watching everybody exiting the airplane on the tarmac and then taken to customs staffed with only women in military uniform, but with high heels and mini skirt, in 2001. Needless to say I walked right into a pole and gave a good laugh to the women.
haha oh my God
It's a lot nicer now than in 2001
Definitely turning into my dream woman.....
Taya and Wheres poppy are my favorite so far.
You are great thank you so much God bless you beautiful video it is great
I was in Odesa last Spring for 2 weeks and had so much fun I returned for the month of October. I only speak a few words of Russian (hello, thank you) and I found very few people who spoke more than a few words of English. That didn't matter, I could still take the public transportation everywhere, even to the outskirts of the city. The 2nd trip I stayed near Gorky Park (which was my favorite park) and visited the City Center almost every day. Thank you very much for sharing your videos... except for the restaurant, I was at all those places. If they don't have a bigger war, I'm going back this Spring... and in the meantime, learn a few more Russian words. Again, thanks.
I just went last month. Looking to go back in December.
Just travelled from Kiev to Odessa!!! This place is BEAUTIFUL!!! Everyone we meet is so nice and helpful. Also this city is really alive at night 😁😁😁 favorite place is the Ibiza club for sure!!
Kiev
What a happy girl. Informative and happy :)
Alina you are really good in making videos of major international destinations.
Can Odessa be compared with Monaco or Nice but then at the Black Sea ?
Thank you! I would say so. It's obviously not quite as ritzy as the two (I have been to both as well) but if you're looking for a place to relax and have a great nightlife, Odessa definitely measure up. Their beach is also better than Nice since that was so rocky when I was there.
Love from odessa
Last month on 12th of October I visited Ukraine,Kiev and its absolutely beautiful and the churches are so beautiful. Also people are so polite and good. Definitely if you all are planning to visit Kiev you should.❤
I'm so happy you had such a good experience! Kiev is such an incredible gem of a city
I enjoyed watching the video. :D
I do need to do Odessa, Love Ukraine 🇺🇦 and my friends there, Such a good people, humble. It is truly a Great for me, Be Safe Alina, Belus Traveller
I am moving there this summer!!!
Yayyyyy my hometown, looking forward going there soon after 10 years :(
Great video!
Hey Alina,my name is Robert and I'm a hybrid just like you. I'm half Ukrainian and half German. I live in the United States. Great video by the way. It makes me want to start planning a trip asap. Thanx and keep them coming.
haha that's awesome. Thank you for the support!
There are a lot of Ukrainian-Germans in Canada
Trying to decide where to go in the Ukraine...I live on my sailboat in Mexico (thank you internet ha!). Great video...I went ahead and sub'd and rang the bell bc I'd like to see more. Great editing except for me, the music in the middle was a little loud and the wind was distracting in the microphone. Also I'm not a Vegan or Veggie so I praying and gambling that they might have real food there! Hahaha! I am going to visit the Ukraine and looking for where to go (flying not sailing). So far Odessa leads the list. Thanks for the vid.
Just beautiful city and country....love to go visit there on my next trip. How about showing me around? That's if you want to go again. Take care Alina and thanks for showing this beautiful city.
yeah she's going to travel there just to show a random dude around
Дрон отлично справился со своей работой. Город был великолепен с высоты полета птиц.
Lena Andreeva spaseeba! 😁
Yes me to. Thanks.
Beautiful city my goal is to travel never go hungry in Ukraine.
Ukraine is on of my favorite countries to travel in Europe! I liked Kiev better than Odessa though...
@Jonas Sandoy odessa in winter sucks, Kiev more all year around city
Kyiv is more fun in terms of theaters and clubs, but Odessa has better beaches
Hey what's up? Nice vlog. I went to Odessa this summer, and I really enjoyed it) Btw, Plov it's not Ukrainian rice, it's actually from Uzbekistan, even though it turned popular among all former soviet republics.
Alina, great video!! It seems you were there at the same time, i was lol.
Last 2 weeks August, first 2 weeks September?
And you aren't the only one who wants to live there hahaha
Alina, currently booked for a 9 day trip to Odessa in July to get some landscape photos and do video of Odessa. I watched your Kiev video and liked the cityscape Andriyivski Uzviz that you recommended. Are there any good cityscape or pretty vistas/landscape shots near the city? So far, the Opera House and the Steps are the two key sites. Also, do you recommend later in the year, you said you visited in September, 25 degrees and not crowed, do you recommend September or October over July? Thanks!
July is awesome if you want consistent beach weather and a more social scene, Sept/Oct will be quieter and also no guarantee of the beach, so it depends what you're going there for. For vistas it's mainly congregated on the upper part of the board walk before the stairs, there's lots of drop offs where you get a good view of the water. There are quite a few companies that do day trips outside the city, so maybe pop into a tourist house and see if there's some cool landscapes more outside the city. Have fun!
Ukraine is amazing! My cousin and I have been here for a couple of days already and we have definitely fallen in love with the people, food and even their traditions. One thing though, it is a little hard to get around, unless you speak Russian or Ukrainian. Or are able to make friends with locals. I am a little bit on the shy side (though I am sociable) but my cousin was able to make friends with a local girl who, by chance, spoke a little English and Serbian. She has been showing us around the city and telling us which places to visit, where to eat, etc.
We like it so much my cousin is actually thinking about moving LOL Not sure he’s serious. But Київ (Kyiv) should be a definite must if you are planning a summer vacation to a place you’ve never been. Trust me, you will fall in love!
That’s wonderful to hear! Glad you’ve overall had a great time!
I've been to Odessa, and think it's great. So much so, I'm planning on going back my next trip to Ukraine, and will be looking to buy a country house, close to the city sea. When I was there before, it was only for four days tho, so I don't know much about it. I did go to the opera however, and really enjoyed it. The beach I went to wasn't as nice as the one you showed. I'm glad I watch your trip here, as you know just what to tell people, about vacationing. Also, I'm vegetarian, and appreciate you showing the meals you get, which are the same as I would choose. You may eat meat, but I've never seen you show meat dishes in any of your videos. I'm not so sure about your meal only costing $4. I don't drink beer, but I think with that, your meal would have cost more. Still cheap, but you were at a nice restaurant, so I would expect to pay $5. USD. I was amazed tho, my first trip to Ukraine, at how good the restaurants are, and so inexpensive.
Also left Odessa exactly 20 years ago, also live in Toronto. Great video about a great city, thank you!
I like cob on the corn also!
I'm going to Odessa for vacation in early September, I'm soo hyped😎😁
Have fun!
Thanks👍
Im having a great time😁
Well Alina, my beautiful. Odessa is another beautiful city. Love them buildings with columns. Got a little worried when you said you're gonna live there... but for a month, sigh of relief... You had me at, like...oh no, please not... I'm liking you close by. Well, I'm from Southern Cali n you just up North, one country over. All to yourself with that pomegranate ice cream, how could you?! Kidding, mine me not. Enjoy! Never herd of that flavor...but sounds good... You ended this video with a nice song. Its as if we apart even when we are not together, are we? Kidding. Mood sets in and...words got me all thinking...darn, she got me... But I like that song very much. What's the title and who is it by?
-S. Lim
Glad you liked it! The music is all from a company called Epidemic Sound that has royalty free music that you pay for a subscription for.

Great video
Odessa is a beautiful and interesting city. I avoid the overpriced beach clubs and go to Club Vostok at Filatova 20. The DJ plays 70s - 90s American and European Rock and Roll.
I'm travelling to ukraine and i really need your help haha which best cities and alot of things if you have time
Karwar city,villge ,kolhapur city,madgaon city,palolem road ,hotels ,resto.tea points ,colva road,anjuna beach road,goa ,india

Best sea view
Yes, good things need not be expensive....
Alina @ you are talking so good about u country , when I have chance to see it. ...
Its becomes more emotional when you get to know the history of the city, country. Thanks to mr santosh george kulangara (a well known traveller from south india), we go to know about kiev, oddesa, countryside, the politics, the space industry and great man behind it "Sergey Korolev". Also thanks to alina for showing us the modern odessa..❤❤❤
Shyam Sankar hahaha india many problems the people's make toilets on the street ! and the streets are full of smells of skunk urine. ... who else wants to travel there ! .
Big fan of your Vlogs and your Instagram posts. They actually seem to be a product of genuine compassion
Hi...
I like to see blowing lanes and movies theaters...thank u.
Hi Alina ! Love Odessa very much, my favorite place to relax in summer. I’ve been there 14 time sense 2009 and can’t think of a better place to have vacation. I try and stay 3 weeks at least because it’s a long trip from Hawaii where I live. I was last there in 2016 thanks for the memories!
Alina, I've watched a lot of ukraine vids. IT'S tempting to travel there, but I can't think of anything exciting to do everyday once I get there. I just don't have a large menu of items to keep me busy. When I go to Rome , Naples, Dublin, London, there is plenty to see and do. If I go to Odessa, and stay for four days ,what to do. The beaches and food is not enough. Opera is great, but seasonal, can't always be there. I've talked to Ukrainians here in Cal.and they don't want to go back there. Just don't know what to think. Thanx
I THINK I'M IN LOVE, LOL...
Watching this video was heartbreaking! lol! I have been to Odessa 3 times. Last July my fiance ( she is Russian) and I spent 5 weeks there with friends from Nikolaev Ukraine, Canada, the US and Singapore. I am a New Zealander living in Australia so quite an international mix of friends! I asked my fiance to marry me this trip and she said yes! Odessa holds so many great memories for me, the beach clubs where we would relax most days were the food is great and drinking cocktails in the sun. I really enjoyed your video and it bought back great memories! Thanks for sharing, you have a new subscriber! keep up the good work!
Thank you so much and congratulations to you guys!
Did she say cob on the corn? 😁 Very nice video though!
yes
