Bali is considered to be the 'Island of the Gods' because of its jaw dropping nature. From its pristine southern beaches, to the lushness of its northern rice paddy fields, as well as its striking volcanoes, there is a lot to see when visiting this magical island. It is no surprise that Bali has become a popular destination not only for tourists, but also for remote workers. For better and worse, southern Bali has changed a lot in the last few decades, becoming a very international community with a lot of digital nomads calling it home. Would also recommend getting your place on a quiet side street off the main road, but right on because there are a few places that do live music on there but if you’re off the road at least 300m, you can’t really hear it.

Interesting video. I'm not the target market for this video, since I have no interest in being a digital nomad. However, as always you cover the pros and cons of each local from your point of view. This is great for a traveller, and then you layer the digital nomad information on top of the general information.

Good honest video. Ubud is very crowded, but has everything you need, especially good internet and great restaurants, it is still not cheap compared to most areas of Thailand, we were in Hua Hin Thailand and it is very reasonable, housing is inexpensive because they really overbuilt, lots of empty places in Thailand means lower prices, beautiful beaches too.

PS. You're right about having an insurance anytime we travel: While filming in Saudi Arabia I had a health issue and if I didn't have a travel insurance I would have paid a huge amount of money to have my body checked at a private clinic in Riyadh

damn bali used to be much cheaper... That's more expensive than italy..
It can be cheaper, but you have to stay in very local areas and those are not always surrounded by the same kinds of amenities that foreigners might expect and internet can be spotty. But yes, on a whole Bali has increased quite a bit in price because of how popular it is.

You never cover food expenses, i know you like to eat out few times a day but how much does that add up to in comparrison with avg rent being 500usd per month. Does food cost you more than that?
That’s fair but it’s tricky to cover because it has way more range than rent in a way because what might be a mid range restaurant to be, some people might consider expensive. I personally tend to spend more money on food than rent because I like to go to nicer places and get multiple coffees out. If someone does local budget places, their numbers would be completely different. I’d say I spend about $30-40 usd on food a day.
@@AlinaMcleod that's a good point Alina, would you ever consider filming local grocery stores, like how much staples cost, potatoes, chicken breast, and milk. It would be nice to see how much markup these restaurants are doing based on grocery costs. In Canada as you know we are boycotting Loblaws, it would be nice to show Canadians what groceries cost in other countries. Since you are there in Bali it would always give you extra views to compare Bali food prices to Toronto food prices etc. thanks for your reply. Have a nice weekend sweetie

not being rude Alina.. please do a video about some of the immediate negative stuff about Bali.. yes.. its a beautiful island.. but it can also be a very unhygienic place with a big garbage problem.. as well as those annoying uneducated locals.. verses arrogant drunken foreign tourist who's there just for the cheap alcohol and something else..
I get the impression that she talks more and more like content you find in tourist bulletin at local hotels; I rather would listen to environmental issues that country faces, as contaminated beaches due to poor education in environmental awareness in people, Alina with due respect keep an eye open for more up today issues and not such “rosy” subjects as how strong the Wi-Fi is or how confortable a restaurant is, good luck in your endeavors.
I mean there’s plenty of channels that you can watch for that kind of info. That is not something I’m well versed in or what my channel has ever been about, so not sure why I would suddenly switch to that.
